I'd have Bongi in the team above Dweba.

Bongi turned into a surfer boy since joining the $hark$. Dweba scrummaging is also much better.Sards wrote: ↑Sun Jul 16, 2023 7:30 amThat's just your WP bias coming through. please, for the next match start with Kurt-Lee Arendse, Marx, Andre Esterhuizen and Grant Williams / Jaden Hendriske.. Drop Mapimpi, DDA, Faf and Bongo to the bench. Please start with Libbok. Drop Willemse anywhere . He's equally shit in any position he gets dropped from.

We are ranked 4th.
All those above us are just better than us. It's that simple.
That doesn't mean that we can't beat them.Sards wrote: ↑Mon Jul 17, 2023 4:17 amWe are ranked 4th.

As disappointing as the result was, I don't think it's a train-smash.
If Kolbe was awarded his first try like he should have been, the final score could have been quite different.
The lessons learnt from the bench are key. You can't bring Marx on at 45 minutes and expect him to mop-up, he's switch things over and start him against Argentina. Same with RG, that guys deserves a start too.
I agree with Chilli, the Japan-based players need a kick up the arse. To much easy rugby against midgets.
I actually though the All Blacks looked poor in the second half, especially their kicking.

No it wasnt, but frustrating nonetheless, as again the should have/could have and poor selections have let us down.assfly wrote: ↑Mon Jul 17, 2023 5:57 am As disappointing as the result was, I don't think it's a train-smash.

In future we must be aware of our pecking order and cut the vitriol out....Also forget bomb squad excitement and chest beating and experimenting at fly half , full back and centre.....ffs......use specialist players that know what the vok they are doing. We have been down this road many times before and it hasn't worked out. How much longer are we going to do this before we catch a wake up.
Then maybe we can beat them.....Rassie must be a part of the scene but not dictate selections....4 years is a long time in international rugby....especially when your favorites have hardly played any rugby because you are saving them for special matches.
At the end of the day we look like fools and are absent from the RC thread because we are the losers.

Spot on. Rasnaber have to decide now who the starting XV is and stick with it from now on in the 4 upcoming games until the RWC. Stop the bomb squad crap, stop the Willemse experiment, start the best players. I only fear we all know who those are... the old rabble minus beast, louw and franz steinSards wrote: ↑Mon Jul 17, 2023 7:49 amIn future we must be aware of our pecking order and cut the vitriol out....Also forget bomb squad excitement and chest beating and experimenting at fly half , full back and centre.....ffs......use specialist players that know what the vok they are doing. Bar not starting Marx and standing Etzebeth down, I don't know what more they could have done. I said it last year I'll say it again, Marx must start every game.
I think we all know who our best team is - even the coaches do - but they had to use these three - let's be honest: RWC warm-up games - to see who is in form and who is fit. Plus work out the combos.
We have our answers already, even before the Argie match.
I'm no fan of the Bomb Squad either BTW. Being 12-15 points behind at half time is not a good strategy for a World Cup campaign.

Some of the team suggestions I have seen all have the same problem Rassie and Nienaber must face. Got to get some representation in there.Sandstorm wrote: ↑Mon Jul 17, 2023 9:39 am I think we all know who our best team is - even the coaches do - but they had to use these three - let's be honest: RWC warm-up games - to see who is in form and who is fit. Yup. Without Kolisi & Ox fit, they have to start Bongi in the forwards or we look very White. Orie is a fringe player.Sards wrote: ↑Mon Jul 17, 2023 1:35 pmSome of the team suggestions I have seen all have the same problem Rassie and Nienaber must face. Backline they can afford to leave Willemse out if we play Libbok. But if Pollard comes back & they think Faf/Reinach is good enough.....
I think Williams deserves a shot. I still think they missed a trick by not getting Nohamba in there. He is a converted flyhalf. Give me Nohamba over Willemse and Jantjies any daySandstorm wrote: ↑Mon Jul 17, 2023 2:21 pmYup. Without Kolisi & Ox fit, they have to start Bongi in the forwards or we look very White. Someone explain what Herschel Jantjies is doing there. No one in their right mind would trust him in a RWC match. You could sell Nohamba on that basis. I am only thinking about making the mix work. And I thought Nohamba was scintillating with the odd brain fart but solid at posts...

For the Willie haters calling for Willemse at 15
"according to Opta stats, Le Roux’s floated ball to put Kolbe away for a diving finish in the corner was his 45th try assist for his country, and the most by a Bok.
Only three Tier One Test players – Beauden Barrett, Aaron Smith and Conor Murray – have done better since Le Roux made his international debut

It's a real shame his defense let him down so badly in that game, he really was a turnstile and they targeted him.assfly wrote: ↑Tue Jul 18, 2023 5:42 amThat's absolutely incredible.Sards wrote: ↑Mon Jul 17, 2023 5:36 pm For the Willie haters calling for Willemse at 15

Malherbe, De Jager, Wiese, Mapimpi and Mostert were the ones I saw falling off tackles they should have made in the first 20 mins. Kiwis made meters-for-fun through the forwards, especially on kick returns.
De Jager, Mostert and Wiese should not only be making tackles, they should dominate the tackle. Not a lot of that in the last test.
Springboks, Stormers and WP supporter.
Isn't Willie one of the old farts that you are so desperate to get rid of? Replace him with Fa$$I.Sards wrote: ↑Mon Jul 17, 2023 5:36 pm For the Willie haters calling for Willemse at 15

Right now our focus is on winning the RWC......nothing else....put provincial kak aside. In terms of that I am hoping Rassnaber field the best side in all games at the RWC. Best per position. Specialists.
Also lets be realistic about player expectations....trying to make a player something that he is not is only going to end in tears...Watching players getting slated on fb is not fun. Poor Willemse is having a tough ride on social media....with calls for him to rather replace Willie at fullback because he is not a 10. As much as Rassnaber would like him to be.
The game against Argentina should be our first team. Heaven knows these lads need gametime

Willemse is listed as a utility back. Pollard is the starting 10, Willie is the starting 15.
There are players who's not yet had a chance to show what they can bring. The Championship is already lost and the last game against the Pumas can be used for further experimentation.
We have three warm up games before the WC officially starts.
5 August: Springboks vs Argentina (Vélez Stadium, Buenos Aires)
19 August: Springboks vs Wales (Millennium Stadium, Cardiff)
25 August: Springboks vs New Zealand (Twickenham Stadium, London)
Enough time to get the team settled.

Good news, from https://www.news24.com/sport/rugby/rugb ... s-20230720
Nienaber said injury-prone flyhalf Handre Pollard, who has not played for the Springboks since an August 2022 loss in Australia, is making good progress recovering from a calf injury.
The coach said he expected the Leicester Tigers playmaker to be available for the second of three World Cup warm-up matches, against Wales in Cardiff on 19 August.
Captain and flanker Siya Kolisi, who suffered a serious knee injury in April but is poised to skipper the Springboks in France, may also return to action in the Cardiff Test.
