If the right decision is reached more often and the viewers don't have to sit through 5 minutes of deliberations, I really don't see the problem.

Farrell must've done the training course to get the week off his ban so many times he may as well be the trainer.
The correct decision was made. The game just cracked on. The crowd baying influence was not there.PCPhil wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 6:40 pmAgreeMargin__Walker wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 6:39 pmIf the right decision is reached more often and the viewers don't have to sit through 5 minutes of deliberations, I really don't see the problem.
The system worked and works well.

Nah, U20s team ought to be able to do the business, & that way we don't pick up any bans, or lose anyone to injury

It's actually quite a recent thing, it wasn't available for 2 of his previous bans, the most recent of which was 2020, so he did it for the first time this year.I like neeps wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 6:41 pm Farrell must've done the training course to get the week off his ban so many times he may as well be the trainer.
The ref still looked at footage for 2 minutes, and then made the wrong call .Margin__Walker wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 6:39 pmIf the right decision is reached more often and the viewers don't have to sit through 5 minutes of deliberations, I really don't see the problem.
My problem isn't the bunker as such, it's how the refs change their decisions on it, only for them to be altered a few minutes later, affecting the game.
In fairness, this was probably not the game of rugby to judge it on. And my frustration was mainly with Farrell and the referee dodging the red card decision.

What irritates me is how the English always talk of it in terms of "Farrell's tackle technique" in an attempt to diminish the simple fact that he's a cheap thug. He's not trying to tackle at all. Kawazaki will be on to defend him with similar washing attempts.

Hey I wonder if you noticed which two teams I excludedTorquemada 1420 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 6:47 pmWhere's J2M? I pointed out to him last week that modern players are so over coached that practically no team has the ability to play what's in front of it. France the same last week.

Throw in Fra and every team that has had a major man advantage this series has f**ked it up.JM2K6 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 6:58 pmHey I wonder if you noticed which two teams I excludedTorquemada 1420 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 6:47 pmWhere's J2M? Wales will be happy. Earls (angerland number 7) was right, no fucker plays well against Wales.
Wales have two goals during the match....stay close to you up until about sixty...then steal the win.
Opposition must shit themselves when Wales are within a few points of them after 60, and after thinking they have been dominant.
OK it didn't work today..but it was all going to plan nicely.
It would be easier to forgive Farnell, if he didn't do that contact with such fucking anger and hatred in his soul.

It's never that straightforward but if you are trying to make out that France don't play heads up rugby then I think you might be in the minority.Torquemada 1420 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 7:00 pmThrow in Fra and every team that has had a major man advantage this series has f**ked it up.JM2K6 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 6:58 pmHey I wonder if you noticed which two teams I excludedTorquemada 1420 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 6:47 pm

All the preparation has been for Farrell to start at 10 and be England's attack leader, defence leader, and captain. Regardless of your opinion of him, it's a big disruption
They even said he's not a dirty player, but how many cards/bans do you need to have to earn that description?Torquemada 1420 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 6:58 pmWhat irritates me is how the English always talk of it in terms of "Farrell's tackle technique" in an attempt to diminish the simple fact that he's a cheap thug. I don't think he's a thug, but his reckless defence so often hits players in the head, and he has made little effort to sort this.
No more mitigations in his disciplinary hearings please. (Which might not even harm England)

I think he's dirty. He's never put any serious work into changing his approach, as is pretty obvious. Not putting work into an area where you need to make I provement is deliberate.salanya wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 7:08 pmThey even said he's not a dirty player, but how many cards/bans do you need to have to earn that description?Torquemada 1420 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 6:58 pmWhat irritates me is how the English always talk of it in terms of "Farrell's tackle technique" in an attempt to diminish the simple fact that he's a cheap thug. You'd have to wonder how much scope there is to cause disruption, it's not like anything looks joined up as things stand
I don't actually know if any of his previous is pertinent. He's likely looking at 3 matches stood down, 4-5 if his previous comes in

You would think if your best mate in the world had contracted Motor Neurons from idiots dishing out dangerous and illegal tackles and impacts precisely like that, Kevin sinfield would simply refuse to work with them.
Am I giving rugby players and coaches too much credit?

Yes, I know. There are other recidivists. So, when have you seen it?

His 2020 decapitation of Charlie Atkinson was acknowledged in the judgement for his ban earlier this year and saw the Repeat Offender box on the judgement infographic ticked. That's why he only got two weeks knocked off his 6 weeks for contrition and good conduct at the hearing ( )instead of having the ban halved as seems to be the norm when a player manages to say sorry instead of 'fuck you, I'd do it again'. An extra week was then taken off for the tackle intervention course as it wasn't an option back in 2020.Rhubarb & Custard wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 7:23 pmYou'd have to wonder how much scope there is to cause disruption, it's not like anything looks joined up as things stand

So he's looking at 5 - they'll knock one off for being nice at the hearing (although Zander has raised the game with the tunnocks tea cakes) and he can't do the training course again so soon.sockwithaticket wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 7:30 pmHis 2020 decapitation of Charlie Atkinson was acknowledged in the judgement for his ban earlier this year and saw the Repeat Offender box on the judgement infographic ticked. What was the one earlier this year for? And is the Atkinson one still live as it were?sockwithaticket wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 7:30 pmHis 2020 decapitation of Charlie Atkinson was acknowledged in the judgement for his ban earlier this year and saw the Repeat Offender box on the judgement infographic ticked. If they considered the Atkinson ban in the judgement earlier this year, I'm not sure why it would be discounted several months on.

They do lapse at some point, I simply forget when. But the shoulder to the jaw is you'd think similar enough it's relevant as previous, so no discount and then can they avoid adding on extras?sockwithaticket wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 7:47 pmShoulder to the jawRhubarb & Custard wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 7:40 pmWhat was the one earlier this year for? Often a mistake to consider there might be consistency in disciplinary hearings of course.
