I have just read that the final squad is only due september 1st, so they still can change the 33 as they like.
No chance, would destroy the team if guys were named then unnamed. This Bok side have always been open about selections, there's nothing secret going on. Libbok is now the first choice 10.boere wors wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 8:57 am I have just read that the final squad is only due september 1st, so they still can change the 33 as they like.

Thanks for posting. Some good insights. Will still be interesting to see if Handre will make it to the RWC and if so, how they will use him.
Nel's youtube is good. This Bok coaching team has always been good on transparency, probably why there's less crazy fan pressure on them. There's a recent interview with Rassie on Nel's channel where Rassie says he learnt this at Munster, that the fans need to be included.boere wors wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 8:59 am Thanks for posting. This vid gives us some answers on what I noticed regarding backs during opposed training (there's 14 backs selected, which gives a 7/7 split)._Os_ wrote: ↑Tue Aug 08, 2023 2:57 pm I'm guessing this is the 23 they're looking at. Went with a 5/3 bench, but the selections make 6/2 look more likely. There's only 6 backs selected not playing scrumhalf or wing (and even Kriel can play wing, so it's really 5). This makes Libbok/Le Roux/Willemse/Kriel nailed on for the 23, then they decide if they take Esterhuizen or De Allende and if the loser goes to the bench (probably not, as they're not utility players), then there's the other 8 backs covering scrumhalf and wing.
Even for opposed training 14 backs means two backlines of 7, which means the second choice backline in training will have some odd picks at 10/13/15. Can totally see news reports about Moodie playing 13 or 15.
Secondary positions:
Kolbe - flyhalf/fullback (flyhalf mentioned, but has also played 15 for the Boks, which logically could've also ruled him out at 15 depending on how they think he went)
Faf - flyhalf
Williams - wing
Le Roux - flyhalf
In opposed training it looks like: Reinach and Hendrikse definitely at 9 a lot of the time, Faf likely the starter so he's at 9 with Libbok as his 10 too. Williams probably on the wing a lot (meaning Moodie is elsewhere, probably 13). Libbok is in one 10 jersey/bib, and the other is shared between Faf/Willemse.
Pulled hamstrings from box kicks.
That's a fascinating interview. It's so rare these days that coaches will be so honest and transparent._Os_ wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 8:38 amNo chance, would destroy the team if guys were named then unnamed. He's really a numbers guy, amazing how he's got so many different percentages at his fingertips. I can see how be balances out with Rassie who is more emotional.
I think he's cleared up some of the issues quite well about Pollard.
They have done absolutely nothing to ensure flyhalf is a position that is secured. No development of youngsters. They are still convinced Willemse is a 10. I see Willemse hit out at critics saying we musn't judge them on kicking as a flyhalf.
Scotland is showing as a serious contender for our pool. We cannot afford to vok this up in the pool stages......................

Sards, what are your predictions for Boks vs Scotland and Boks vs Ireland?Sards wrote: ↑Mon Aug 14, 2023 6:08 am They have done absolutely nothing to ensure flyhalf is a position that is secured. Scotland has really been hardened by those French matches.....I wouldn't discount them. Ireland will beat us I think. I think it is pretty clear from the latest comments and selections that Libbok will be our starting flyhalf. Which is the logical choice.
There's another way of looking at it, that Scotland doesn't respect France's defence so did what they thought they could get away with. Maybe they try something different against the Boks.
Also, you need to harden up, Bok unbeaten run no defeats.

Just ignore him. He's trolling, fishing for reactions. Only way someone can be posting the stupid shit he has for the last 8 years.

We are going to play most of our games in the Takealot's cheap Total tools kit.
Why would I be trolling. Or looking for a reaction. You really do think very little. He asked my opinion. I answered. Simple.average joe wrote: ↑Mon Aug 14, 2023 12:07 pm Just ignore him. I agree, give Sards a break. He has been watching stats since his days as Sardyntjie on PR.Sards wrote: ↑Mon Aug 14, 2023 2:09 pmWhy would I be trolling. Or looking for a reaction. What exactly of Sards comments is considered trolling here? He has a valid point. Scotland is in good form already and by no means a walkover. It is a tough group and we have to be at our best right in the first game. Yet our latest showings haven’t installed much confidence. Only 3 weeks and 2 tests to go to get in formSards wrote: ↑Mon Aug 14, 2023 10:16 amScotland has really been hardened by those French matches.....I wouldn't discount them. Re Scotland
Every team on the planet knows we will have a crisis on our hands if Libbok goes down. I don't think they will risk him against Wales or New Zealand. It's him and then nothing. But let's see what the brains trust comes up with tomorrow. France was dealt a serious blow in that department and everyone is suddenly licking their chops.
I believe in Manie. He can do the job for us. Bur he is the only plug in the Dyke wall.

Who ever loses that match must win their match against Ireland or they are out. Thus, we better win that first match or the pressure is really on

Yep. Put Willemse in 12 and kind se naam is wit willem.
Unleash Moodie and KLA.
France just lost a prop as well to the Scotland match. I am not worried about Libbok kicking. He showed me something against Argentina. He didn't give up. He persevered. Much respect.

French props are fat. And unfit. And over-played. Inevitable they will lose some this month.

I'm hesitant to waste my time to explain it to you because you parrot some of what he is posting. But I'll do it this once because I believe you're not as bad a poster even if a bit misguided, and because I have time to burn. If you look at my post, you'll notice that I didn't quote any other posts. You need to look at it just as that. Let us not focus on this one point of Scotland's recent progress but address the issue that is Sards trolling. Sards, for most part, have been against everything and anything this coaching setup has done from the time they started back in 2017. I have my doubts on his motives but whatever they are, one has to consider his posting past. Whether it be provincial bias or a personal disliking in a certain player/coaches or a grudge against other posters, it all boils down to trolling anyways.
Rassie and Nienaber have been very open and clear from the get-go. If you cannot at least see the reasoning behind what they do and why they do it by now, then anything anyone says won't help.
Sards might post something now and then that resembles sanity but it's a drop in the ocean compared to the utter rubbish that he posts (a broken clock is right twice a day). And it's everywhere, each and every single South African rugby thread gets infected, it's unavoidable. So, no I'm not stalking him. I grew up with rugby and I'm a South African so naturally I'll click on these threads and read other peoples opinions. I have in the past felt it necessary to point out his bullshit to perhaps make him feel a sense of shame so that he stops, but I'm now at the point where I feel any time spent on him just feeds him.

That would imply that Sards is not a bad poster.
Perhaps, perhaps I've been dupped. I mean, the guy pretended to be an 18-year-old girl once so it's not beyond him. Luckily, I'm an adult and these things hardly faze me.
