Well, I like it. It makes the Boks a lot easier on the eye and also if the RWC game against Scotland is about who can play the best expansive rugby instead of who has the best physicality - I'm thinking Scotland's chances would improve considerably.
But I'm sure Nienaberasmus can think along those lines as well so I'm sure the Boks will revert to type and pummel Scotland into the ground as per usual.

As rugby expert Ox said when he saw Moodie play a few matches "Ja, move him inside that's a 13", and as rugby expert Ox guessed Moodie has been running at 13 in training a lot. Nienaber says with Am out, Moodie is the 3rd choice 13 behind Kriel and De Allende._Os_ wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 9:27 amThis vid gives us some answers on what I noticed regarding backs during opposed training (there's 14 backs selected, which gives a 7/7 split)._Os_ wrote: ↑Tue Aug 08, 2023 2:57 pm I'm guessing this is the 23 they're looking at. Went with a 5/3 bench, but the selections make 6/2 look more likely. There's only 6 backs selected not playing scrumhalf or wing (and even Kriel can play wing, so it's really 5). This makes Libbok/Le Roux/Willemse/Kriel nailed on for the 23, then they decide if they take Esterhuizen or De Allende and if the loser goes to the bench (probably not, as they're not utility players), then there's the other 8 backs covering scrumhalf and wing.
Even for opposed training 14 backs means two backlines of 7, which means the second choice backline in training will have some odd picks at 10/13/15. Can totally see news reports about Moodie playing 13 or 15.Secondary positions:
Kolbe - flyhalf/fullback (flyhalf mentioned, but has also played 15 for the Boks, which logically could've also ruled him out at 15 depending on how they think he went)
Faf - flyhalf
Williams - wing
Le Roux - flyhalf
In opposed training it looks like: Reinach and Hendrikse definitely at 9 a lot of the time, Faf likely the starter so he's at 9 with Libbok as his 10 too. Williams probably on the wing a lot (meaning Moodie is elsewhere, probably 13). Libbok is in one 10 jersey/bib, and the other is shared between Faf/Willemse.
Kurt-Lee Arendse has known him since they were kids, says Moodie's preferred position is 13.

Sards is more inclined to get his reliable "info" from FB. He swears by it.
I must say.....I have always preffered Nienabers teams over Rassies. Look how Rassie vokked up against the ABs. Whilst Nienaaber tackled Argentina....
Its like compared blunt force trauma against Surgeons precision.
Old timers vs youth............................................................................
Also a lot of attacking rugby that Rassie despises , preferring to kick the leather off the ball and Brutalize the opposition by dominating the contact.

We are all entitled to voice our opinions. I think you do understand that. Rassie will be gone after the RWC....same with Nienaber. I wasn't even referring to the RWC. I was talking in general. This is a Springboks going forward thread....not the vokken RWC thread......twat
I cant believe I have to deal with so much stupid .......

I must hand it to the Bok management. In the lead up to this world cup, we are really putting forward such a positive image of the Boks. The players interview so well, the coaches are open and transparent, and all the stuff on social media is very well curated.
Compare it to a lot of the other teams; England and Australia are PR disasters, NZ are up in arms about Hansen joining Australia.

Le Roux got changed for Kwagga last minute. That match was played with a 7/1 bench split. Reinach played on the wing. To me that says Kolbe/de Allende/Kriel/Le Roux are all definite starters.
But it raises something unexpected. Kwagga is a Sevens player, he can play centre/wing in a pinch. The only scrummie they seem to be leaving at 9 only is Hendrikse. It is possible to go with a 7/1 split and use Kwagga and Faf on the bench to cover the backline. Not sure that's a great option, but it is available. I would stick with the option from the Wales match, 6/2 split, Willemse coming on at 12.

Doesn't seem to make sense to take such a risk in the backline, when a handful of the forwards can be 80 minute players_Os_ wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 9:12 pm Le Roux got changed for Kwagga last minute. Looks like just an option to squeeze even more power into the bomb squad. The momentum and pace of the game is dictated by the forwards. ABs were down a forward and we had a 7/1 bench. If the Boks are in the final quarter and one or two of our forwards are faster, it's a big advantage.TheNatalShark wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 9:16 pm Doesn't seem to make sense to take such a risk in the backline, when a handful of the forwards can be 80 minute players
I don't know if it's a good option, if there's backline injuries it starts getting messy. But it is an option and we're a team that needs 5 pointers now.

It will be interesting to see what our coaches make out of today. For me, we finally have evolved past Pollard, de allende and Willie.
Pollard doesn't feature unless there's an injury. He's better than Libbok.boere wors wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 10:10 pm It will be interesting to see what our coaches make out of today. For me, we finally have evolved past Pollard, de allende and Willie.
Thing with de Allende is he can play 13, so it means Willemse can come on at 12 which is his best position and De Allende can shift to 13 with Kriel going off or moving to wing. That's a really strong option and what I would go with.
Le Roux is just next level, highest amount of assists of any player in the RC, reads the game better than any of our backline players. Absolute lock in now we need to score tries and can't rely on place kicking.
For me: 10 Libbok/12 de Allende/13 Kriel/14 Kolbe/15 Le Roux all start, Willemse on the bench. The only questions in the backline for me are if Faf starts or Hendrikse, I quite like Faf's energy and how he plays to the ball like an miniature openside so would probably favour him, if Hendrikse isn't starting I'm not sure I have him on the bench. The last question is who plays left wing, if Am was fit then it's definitely Mapimpi but he isn't, Arendse is scoring a lot but he's the only wing who started both losses against Ireland and France last year I think he has some weakness in the air which Mapimpi does not, Moodie is an obvious massive talent and has the potential to become an all time Bok great if he stays fit but he's still a rookie and making basic errors, not sure who I pick.
That was a dominant and energetic performance from our forwards. Crushed them. Our backline defended well except for the NZ try. That was too easy. Every player put everything into that game. That makes a huge difference. NZ waa dominated across the park. Very difficult to give MOTM to any single player. Outstanding performances from all the forwards. Marx probably the standout for me. In the backline AE was huge....but Manie deserved it for me. Here's a kid that has been slated for weeks and comes up with a flawless performance when it matters. I would give it to Marx because forwards are always overlooked for awards. However, it would have been a good gesture to give it to Manie to build his confidence.

Willemse nailed the 15 jersey with his MOTM performance against the All Blacks.
Hope AE also.

I don't think he deserved it. He was probably the poorest of the boks yesterday. Dropped the tackle for the Kiwis try. Kicking for line poor compared to Willie whilst Manie was sublime. Selfish on attack again, not passing like Willie would have done. Dropped high kicks.OomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Sun Aug 27, 2023 3:38 am Willemse nailed the 15 jersey with his MOTM performance against the All Blacks.

Not convinced by him at all. That was a buddy buddy award to deflect from the deficiencies evident.
Marx, PSDT, AE and Manie deserved it far more than him.

Definitely AE for me at 12. And with Manie at 10 we dont need Willie any more. Willemse is usually really good as last defender, and if pointing fingers I think it was Moodie who missed to tackle the NZ 9 in the first place.

AE for me too. As for Willemse, I’d still start with Willie. It’s a bit ironic that Sards is complaining about Willemse defense, Willie is notorious for being iffy on that front.boere wors wrote: ↑Sun Aug 27, 2023 7:09 am Definitely AE for me at 12.
