Pollard back training with Leicester Tigers... honestly I still don't quite get that whole story. He could have easily been nominated for the bok RWC squad, as he was always going to be fit latest by the pool stage. Somehow that whole story doesn't seem right, something fishy going on here.

I think he has been excluded. Not enough skill sets to be a multi functional player. They seem to favor multi skilled players over specialist players and they already have a specialist flyhalf. It really looks like they are giving Pollard the middle finger. Time will tell. He could still be called in.boere wors wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 9:44 pm https://rugbyonslaught.com/handre-polla ... ie-libbok/

Wait untill Manie have an off day.
Does $ards know that Money doesn't play for the $harks anymore?
JN explained this a couple of weeks ago. He's back to training but he's not match-fit and is still only doing limited contact. He'll get called up if there is any injury to a backline player, I'm sure.boere wors wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 9:44 pm https://rugbyonslaught.com/handre-polla ... ie-libbok/

Pollard is fully fit now but lacks game time. They can't pick him because they committed to the team weeks ago. These Bok coaches are very transparent with the players. Imagine telling a player that has put in the hard yards and done everything you asked of him "You're going to the World cup" only to tell him a few weeks later "we have to drop you because Pollard is fit now". Not only will they lose that players trust but the whole team will begin to have doubts. They made their minds up months ago that he was not going to make the initial squad and will be on standby as injury cover.assfly wrote: ↑Thu Aug 31, 2023 5:31 amJN explained this a couple of weeks ago. I have seen all those explanations by Nienaber, and they would make sense if it wasn't our star player and member of the core leadership group. Something more is going on there, they spoke about trying him at 12, maybe he opposed it and they showed him the door. Whatever it is, but there must be more to it, I simply don't buy it. Nobody would leave it's star player out just like that.

For 4 years they have been so conservative with their selections, always reverting to the same old, tried and tested. Only lately they seem to be open to change and favour form. I still would be surprised.
We've only had 3 years of rugby since 2019, thanks to Covid. I think we've done very well to bring in so much new talent and vary the way we play.boere wors wrote: ↑Thu Aug 31, 2023 8:01 am For 4 years they have been so conservative with their selections, always reverting to the same old, tried and tested. Strange how some think Pollard is a conservative 10 when he is known as a 10 that plays flat and takes on the line. Sure, the Bok's demanded something ells from him and he is very capable to play more conservatively but that's not his natural style. Complaints about versatility is also moot, Pollard can play 10 and 12 on a very high level. His injury came at a bad time and the coaches were not going to gamble on him being 100% with so little game time.

In an extended squad of 33 they could still have taken one of their star players and leaders to the RWC. Him, eben, kolisi and duane are the core of that team for many years, nothing one would leave out that easily just because the player can not train at 100% initially.average joe wrote: ↑Thu Aug 31, 2023 8:36 am Strange how some think Pollard is a conservative 10 when he is known as a 10 that plays flat and takes on the line. Steady there, boet. I miss Am and I'm not even a Bok supporter. He's in the pantheon of current rugby greats and it's a shame he isn't at the RWC. Him jogging through the in-goal area not even looking at his team mate scoring the try in the final because he was 100% certain his quick pass had done the job is my everlasting memory of the 2019 RWC. Thou shalt not speak of Am in dismissive tones.boere wors wrote: ↑Thu Aug 31, 2023 7:55 amAbsolutely, me too. I think nobody misses Pollard at the moment. You're going with a conspiracy theory whilst the coaches have been very open with what's going on in camp? Like any conspiracy bar the most outlandish, it has a 50/50 chance of being right or wrong. Personally, I would rather just go with what the coaches have stated.

Didn't mean to upset you. We all miss him, of course. Fortunately, others at 13 have stepped up in his absence, which reliefed the pain a little bit. Is what I was trying to say.

Just my gut feeling. Seeing him train with Tigers just had me thinking again. Coach has explained it thoroughly, maybe it is just that. For the reasons stated above, I can't quite follow his reasoning.average joe wrote: ↑Thu Aug 31, 2023 8:59 am You're going with a conspiracy theory whilst the coaches have been very open with what's going on in camp? You cannot ascertain that Moodie is great at 13. Against the ABs 80 percent of the backline had it easy. The forwards were doing all the work. But I do admire Moodie. On the eve of the world cup, I have a few thoughts I've been mulling over.
We could win the damn thing. We could get knocked out in the quarter finals by NZ or France. We could exit in the pool stages thanks to a tough draw.
Either way, I fucking love this team no matter what happens. It has not always been easy to be a Bok fan, looking back at 2011 and 2015, problems with coaches, poor discipline, the issue of transformation, etc. We have had so many lows, and so many embarrassing moments with our coaches. But the way Rassie has developed this team since 2019 is remarkable, especially without playing any rugby in 2020.
We have the best captain in the world. I used to doubt him, now I would fight in the trenches with him.
We have some old hands and some incredible youngsters coming through. Each with their own unique story, each representing their school, their club, their province and many coaches who have helped them along the way. So many that have come from such desperate upbringings to rise above and reach the pinnacle of rugby, like Mapimpi and Moody.
The way the team and the management have been conducting themselves at press conferences and interviews is just so professional. No dramas like with England, Australia. There is no media handbook stuff from our Boks, they just say it as it is, and often with a smile on their face.
But most of all, they give South Africans something to shout about and something to be proud of and to aspire too. Nobody outside of SA seems to understand how hard life is for so many people, so when the pubs and bars around the country fill up to watch the Boks, it just means so much more than most will every understand. Not to mention so many Saffas outside of the country, whom have their own homesickness to deal with.
I'm just so proud of the journey they have taken us fans since 2019. Every player in that squad deserves their place and deserves our full support. And if we actually go an win the whole thing, I think my head will literally explode.

Ditto from me.
RasNaber has been fantastic coaches lately. To left out the likes of Am and Pollard just show their integrity for keeping their own protocols and rules. The game plan change is refreshing and show that they can think out of the box kick.
I cant wait anymore for the WC to start which isn't a good sign.

I have doubted Rassnabber with some abysmal seasons coming into the RWC year. A really poor win rate and really dreadful tactics. Manie joining the boks and the talented youngsters forcing their way into the squad have forced a rethink about tactics and every match the unfancied have played in has been a visual spectacle. A celebration of running rugby. . I have literally loved watching that rugby. It's a future. So yes. Rassnabber have deserved the criticism since the last RWC and the players playing this Sunday are an example of that side bar Manie at 10, so not that excited about the team and the probable tactics we will see. Only the last months they seem to finally find form with playing the youngsters. I hope they can keep the momentum from the past month and go far in the tournament. Vibes coming from the bok camp seem to be very positive. Way to go. Looking forward to sunday.
