SA have it in the tight five, to no-one's surprise. Scotland can challenge in the back row, and have the advantage of a better 10. If Scotland can keep things competitive in the set pieces and narrow channels, and jackal the hell out of every breakdown with Darge and Ritchie, their backs can take it.

Don't think AE is injured. Maybe the coaches just want to see how Moodie pairs with DDA?

Could also be that the coaches think the backline without Faf, Polly and Willie is a little light on experience and wanted to drop in an old hand to settle things down. I don't know DDA, but I've never considered him to be a team leader. He does have 73 tests hunder his belt though, so he is by far the most experienced starting back. Could be that DDA was selected primarily for a leadership role in a pretty green backline (by recent Springbok standards).
Makes sense. Cheers.

Scotland will play it in the air. Kolbe and Willemse are weak there, knocking it on and not getting up in the air high enough for Kolbe. And of course just running at Kolbe and Willemse because that's a weak channel on defense

Ben Smith at RugbyPass is suggesting Scotland should kick the leather off the ball as aerial defence is SA's biggest weakness, and he points to the Lions Tests where IrnDu McMerwe ruled the skies (this is all according to him, ja).

Stuart Hogg's retirement will be most keenly felt in the tactical kicking game, where he and Finn Russell were brilliant together. I'm not sure Finn Russell can (and wants to) turn things into a kicking battle with himself as the only kicker. Something Ben Smith also recognises, as he suggests Russell and Tuipolotou should be going for plenty grubbers and chips to unleash Jones in particular (although the back three are also very happy to run onto those kicks).

I know Hogg's kicking was exceptional but still a bit harsh to say that Russell will be the only kicker in the team when Kinghorn has a massive boot on him and for years has been generally entrusted with the responsibility of kickoffs and kicking for touch for Edinburgh, even when not playing 10.

I'm not convinced Kinghorn has top-notch tactical in-field kicking in his armoury.

Everything is pointing to a kicking duel. That's the only way really to attack our weaknesses. Trying to bust through the defense close to the forwards would just be silly.

Duane reckons we need to analyze Fin Russel thoroughly.
My thoughts exactly. That's where the threat will come from. Wow.....he thinks the same way I do.....sorry man Sandy and co. You are so wrapped up in the ABs victory you think we are invincible . Remember Japan

This team for the RWC will be competitive. Don't think that on the back of an AB victory we will pulverize them.

Scotland's aim is going to be to run a couple of phases in the middle using a mix of Tuipolotu and back rows, with the structure we've seen recently where the alignment of Russel and Huwipolotou, with a back row included is such that you can't immediately tell who the ball is going to even after the SH has released it. Cause a misalignment that causes the SA winger to crash in too early or on the wrong man so Russel can put the long pass over the top. That tactic has been key for the last eighteen months and has been developed with that defensive tactic of the winger crashing in tight on the angle in defence. That'll be backed up with cross field kicks from Russell

Whther it'll work or not I don't know but I think that's the plan.
And are there two g’s in Bugger Off?

So will I. If we play well, we should beat them every time.
If we play badly or start slowly, we'll lose.
If Scots have an absolute blinder, they'll beat us and anyone else.

I'll still be annoyed.
