I'll be watching this game with an Irish mate in a South African owned beer shop.

Some of sweetest drinks I've had have been given to me by Indians, Pakistanis and Chinese . Often as an antidote to spicy dishes. In Sudan the national drink is tea, with enough sugar added to saturate it and form a layer on the bottom of the glass. Anyway, a brandy and coke is going to have less than half the amount of sugar of a glass of orange juice.Sards wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 8:17 amDude. No one likes a snob. Deal with it. Coke Zero. So in the context of being South African adding enough sugar to your drink such you can tolerate it can be associated with hard man notions, and elsewhere not so much. Fair enough
You really don't understand how cultivated the Saffer dad bod is. We take care.

It's a fair charge it's snobbish not to approve of people adding coke to brandy (or whisky or what have you). Nonetheless those who do are philistinesSards wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 8:17 amDude. I popped out in my dorp to do kid pick ups and drop offs. Stopped at the local fresh produce outlet. It was pumping. Green and gold everywhere. Men, women and children. Meat flying off the fridges and extra staff in the butchery sorting out the shelves. You can see how much it means to us. Because of the late start potjie seems to be the thing. And of course the cold weather.......again. I am doing finger food. Rashers, wors and chicken pieces.
Going with branners and coke met eisch tonight

I did savoury jaffels (Boer pensies) at the Church bazaar. Lots of old Bokke and not many mooi Bok ooie but its sure is Bok day today. Make no mistake.Sards wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 11:31 am I popped out in my dorp to do kid pick ups and drop offs. Stopped at the local fresh produce outlet. It was pumping. Green and gold everywhere. as for the jibe at the men involved - you have no idea what customers are at play here
My plan to get to Paris for the match fell through
So I'm watching the match in Valencia. Found an Irish pub, hopefully there's a few Irish there to make an atmosphere.
Wearing my Bok jersey and already found a few Saffers wandering around. Even my Spanish taxi driver said he was a fan.

The last Bok match I was at there was a Spanish family in front of me, I asked them what they were doing there (tickets weren't cheap), "to see one of the greatest teams in sport". It was a bit strange.

The clue is maybe that they haven't started Connor Murray at 9, who I rate as their best scrumhalf, but definitely their best kicker at 9. Looks like they're going to run at Libbok. Will be interesting if Willemse appears in the flyhalf position on first phase when the Boks are defending, Willemse better at defending in the line and Libbok very good at cover tackling.

What is Farrells record against the Springboks in WC matches?
We all do, even R2 dreams about him.
I'm now starting the brannas en coke. Need it to get through this England match.

I have this habit of only start drinking after the Bokke first score. So have to start late._Os_ wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 4:16 pmWe all do, even R2 dreams about him.

Thanks for that, was wondering when the game actually kicked off. Ooohhh 2 choices, either the Saffa coverage or heaven forbid the Aussie One (doesn't say, but hey any chance to ruin a game of rugby, think I'll tune into the Saffa one).Guy Smiley wrote: ↑Fri Sep 22, 2023 10:29 pmI've made a countdown clockGumboot wrote: ↑Fri Sep 22, 2023 10:09 pm The RWC site has the kick-off time as 8am here in New Zealand...but we'll change to daylight saving time at 2am. So, does anyone know if the listed kick-off time takes that into account? Getting up early on a Sunday is already against my religion, so I really don't want to get up even earlier than I need to, if I can avoid it.

I’m picking a Sefrican victory. They’ll spent the limited playing time putting up high balls and smothering Ireland in the forwards. In the remaining 57 minutes of non playing time we’ll see Sefrica dragging the equivalent of a Curry’s superstore of white ware fridges, freezers and chilly bins onto the field. Oh and there will be 25 substitutions at halftime.

This is going to be epic, I hope.
From a selfish perspective I have to back the Boks, it gives Scotland the best chance of progression, albeit very slight and it would mean us having to beat Ireland, which I find it very difficult to see happening.
This could well be a dress rehearsal for the final, I can only see NZ or France matching these sides.

Any nibbles yet? Except this one...ScarfaceClaw wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 6:23 pm I’m picking a Sefrican victory. Im watching the game at Monte Casino. Massive crowd here with the big screen. Nervous about the game. Hope missed kicks will not be a reason that cost us the game

I saw a tweet somewhere that compared the size and height of the teams and their benches...
Ireland are taller and heavier.
That may be the case but they are not as powerfulGuy Smiley wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 6:38 pmI saw a tweet somewhere that compared the size and height of the teams and their benches...

Well those 4 sides are all playing each other in the quarters.Tichtheid wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 6:27 pm This is going to be epic, I hope.

But it might well be Italy in place of us, very possibly.

Come on, Italy are not getting close to New Zealand.
What I'm saying is that the other side of the draw is not on the same level and whoever wins those quarter finals on this side will make it to the final
Fair point, but I’m not passing up a wide open mockers opportunity like that.Tichtheid wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 6:48 pmYmx wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 6:43 pmWell those 4 sides are all playing each other in the quarters.Tichtheid wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 6:27 pm This is going to be epic, I hope.
