The Irish nullified our power game brilliantly. You could probably argue the legalities but the way they handled the scrum after the bomb squad come on was a masterstroke. We demolished them in the first few, but they adjusted their approach, and it turned in their favour.
A scrum has the ref and ARs focusing on the scrum, a ruck, especially on the line, has them looking at offside a lot more. Shall we find some examples of the boks on their line at a lineout/scrum and see if they're all dutifully on or behind the line? I suspect not.Insane_Homer wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2023 12:14 pm "Consistent" example
Not offside = no advantage, no points (easy 3 in front of the posts that not even Mannie could miss)
Offside = advantage, 7 point score
Is that a screenshot from that godawful TAS youtuber? It's amazing how SA haven't lost a game without ref interference for years now.

There is nothing more depressing after a loss when the losers act like losers and blame the ref. Dik swak. Move on Boet, move on.
I thought the ref was very good. He let the game flow more then the average or should I say URC refs. To argue about shite is shite.

the neck roll
'straight' lineout throws
'fair challenge'
Lowes deliberate knock forward
and self-collapsing mauls
but apart from that, he was great

You have a history bitching about refs if memory serves. Not your most edifying trait.Insane_Homer wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2023 1:57 pmthe neck roll

No we can't complain.LoveOfTheGame wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2023 2:02 pmI was talking about the ref jou parra!
Sorry man. It's season. My phone just doesn't vokken stop. Get easily distracted. . Forget what we were talking about
Jesus - we were awarded 7 points because SA were offside? Even though its only a penalty offence? You indeed have a valid right to complain and are not a bat shit lunatic at all, cherry picking single incidents to suit your butt hurt pathetic narrative. Stop watching TAS Analytics you complete bell end.Insane_Homer wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2023 12:14 pm "Consistent" example

If you want a bit of balance, the second scrum of the game where we were pinged for early engagement for the 2nd time - rewatch it, there was no early engagement, he called set, then they came together and then he blows his whistle!
Bundee's mad break, immediately after it Kriel was a mile offside and shut down the attack. Ne'er a blast o' the whistle from Bin!
It's a game of fucking rugby, it never has been and never should be, refereed using a magnifying glass!!!
Aren't you a ref yourself? You ought to be ashamed of yourself!
Hands off Insane Homer! Roll away blue!LoveOfTheGame wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2023 2:03 pm You have a history bitching about refs if memory serves. Not your most edifying trait.

The freedom to throw long passes, expressive & higher risk attacking passes or speculative kicks under a penalty advantage makes the scoring of a try way more likely. If it fails, you can take 3 points or have another go.
SA should have been afforded the same opportunity for the offence.
In fairness to Bin, it should've been called by his AR

I know how the game works - you're the one struggling to understand it!!Insane_Homer wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2023 8:23 pm The freedom to throw long passes, expressive & higher risk attacking passes or speculative kicks under a penalty advantage makes the scoring of a try way more likely. You are a sad sack loser and the only consolation from just how pathetic you are is how quick your fellow Saffers are to call out your bullshit behaviour. Kudos to them.
In the heat of the moment I will forgive (and am guilty of) plenty of screaming obscenities at the TV, but to behave like this on calm reflection?
Rugby doesn't need people like you. You remind me of that fat sack of shit that stormed the field. These have been amongst the most childish, one eyed posts I've ever seen and that includes compared to the most idiotic provincial Irish shitfighting. Give yourself an uppercut!
I’d love to see whoever said that explain how Aki joined that maul legally just before it collapsed or how on earth someone could say the ball wasn’t immediately available when it collapsed. He was unsighted for both. Doesn’t make it the right call tho. It is what it is, ofc, but there’s no way he got it right.EnergiseR2 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2023 8:54 pm Just read there that the big call at the end Bin actually got right. The maul had collapsed without foul play and the ball was not available immediately. Apparently other refs interpretation of immediate is usually very lenient. Every days a school day

Not ROG or Sexton? Come to think of it, I don't recall Rassie having issues until after he spent some time coaching Munster

For the record, World Rugby law 15, Ruck
On the picture of Kriel above, if you take your line parallel to the 22 and move it up to the hind most part of the SA ruck, I'm not sure Kriel was onside, it's marginal at best.
So I don't know what the white line running though the middle of the ruck is supposed to represent in the above pic.Offside at a ruck
Each team has an offside line that runs parallel to the goal line through the hindmost point of any ruck participant. If that point is on or behind the goal line, the offside line for that team is the goal line.

Its also a still image when JGP hasn't yet lifted the ball. He's always a good half yard or more in front of each of the other SA defenders though, having never gotten back onside.Tichtheid wrote: ↑Thu Sep 28, 2023 7:46 am For the record, World Rugby law 15, Ruck

Anyway, it wasn't my point to argue the unfairness of that particular incident, just that rugby games aren't refereed using a magnifying glass. I'm certainly not going to keep arguing with a stupid idiot, so I'll leave IH to wallow in his own madness!!

He was onside, moments before this he was comfortably behind DDA. Your recollection is failing you miserably. give yourself an uppercut.

Can't believe some people are still discussing this meaningless Group game at week later.EnergiseR2 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 28, 2023 9:15 am Lads they are replaying the match. This is unprecedented
I've honestly got no idea what it's all about, just seen social media dominated by it.
All the money you made will never buy back your soul
The basic gist of it is that all of the rabid idiot sinn fein gobshites were pissed off that the red top republican Wolfe Tones song Celtic Symphony was so lambasted over the last year or so, that they have decided to hit back. They're claiming that Zombie is some anti-republican, pro-partitionist anthem and is all thoroughly anti-Irish and so shouldn't be representing the Irish team!!!!
They are bigger idiots than even IH and the fact they are getting all hot and bothered over this is delicious
