Genge and Sinkler just shite scrummagers, should have kept Marler and Dank Hole on.

Mind you lets not forget the 6 points given away by brainless Farrell and Manu

Honestly not sure what Sinckler's there for anymore.

At least Genge is decent in the loose.

Billy was the really poor selection though. Just a shadow of his former self and Ludlum would have offered a lot more off the bench.

Fair play SH you managed to grab both final spots despite NH being in it's best state for a long long time

Surely this week or the 3/4 playoff will be his last for England?

It was an appalling selection to parachute Billy into the world cup squad to begin with, let alone persist with him after fuck up after fuck up.

Obviously the respective benches and what started happening in the scrum was massive to the outcome, but England's performance didn't really last much after 50 mins or so. The accuracy of our play went in most facets, particularly our kicking, the game wasn't really being played in the right areas and there was plenty of stoppages and opportunity for the Saffers to use that scrum dominance.

England are a very limited (crap) team but for a large part of the match played their limited hand quite well for large spells and kept it more competitive than most of us thought it would be. Congrats to the Saffers, I thought you were pretty awful and did your best to aid England and play into their hands, but that last quarter the tide turned and the best teams make sure they take advantage and get themselves on the right side of the result.

Have two players ever gone to shit as quick as Genge and Sinkler, pretty sure England would have won that if the others had stayed on.

Who knows with Borthwick, but you'd think so.

We almost got there and played the conditions, but hopefully there's a bit of growth in the gameplan in the 6N. I'd rather not watch us box kick and garryowen through the whole of the next 4 years.

No idea why they were hauled off. Should've been left on until they couldn't move. Called it at half time, presumably along with anyone who knows anything about rugby, that when our replacement props came on the scrum would turn and SA would win off the back of it.

Ludlam's omission in favour of that useless lump Vunipola should be a fireable offence on its own.

Bit of a problem with English rugby is both of those players have gone to a club where they aren't being pushed. Since leaving Quins and Tigers both have gone to shit.

Surprised at how poorly SA played the conditions.

Steward has one real ability and that's catching the high ball. There were no low kicks or any kicks that moved him around.

Saffers dug deep. Pollard early was a good call.

Extremely funny game. Best of luck in the final, South Africa - you were extremely and comically shite today and it made for a very entertaining "contest". Nice to see scrums win a match. Rassie was exposed a fair bit today, SA's approach was mental and had they lost no one could've complained. It's almost as if they had no idea what sort of England team they would be facing.

Good reverse angle of the final scrum penalty there - Genge definitely crumples then angles in. Far more annoyed by Fourie being allowed to get up again for the try, but when you are a team that refuses to use the ball there can be no complaints when you lose a game you've dominated but not put to bed.

Anyway, we did much better than France and can stand proud as the best of the NH again, so that's that.

Should be a fun final.
Got to think if it is pissing down like that the All Blacks will win.

We'll get to see if we're being too harsh on scabnose when he announces next years 6N squad, because if he doesn't do a massive clearout immediately, he's out of his depth.

Of course a lot of players will probably do him a favour, & retire immediately from international duty, & so Youngs won't get another fifty caps :???:

With all due respect, while our approach was incredibly negative, you're barking if you can't acknowledge that it was at least executed extremely well for a long time, and that the England pack gave the mighty SA pack a bit of a hiding for 50-odd minutes

I’ve said a few times that the England team just doesn’t seem to have changed for years and it’s the same old names, but the new 2nd row was great, Chessum has probably been the best England player for the last 6 months and they have 2 or 3 young backs that are superb that they won’t play.

England played the conditions better, but overall the bench quality was the difference + Farrell being a petulant little cunt and giving away 3 cheap points

That’s a shit take. It was a limited game plan, and they didn’t execute it as well as they could, but they were great.

And it was a semi final so you probably don’t understand.

Martin started this game not Chessum. Though they are pretty similar in playing style one wears a scrum cap and the other is ginger. There is a younger equally large sized Chessum who looks decent. Itoje has also recovered some form.

Agreed, although I worry (for you guys) that the apparently rigid gameplan puts blinkers on. Earlier in the second half there was a massive overlap and then a forward hit it up.and farrell chipped through. Although their winger made an arse of it, the overlap was there before.

Tigers are pretty well covered for future locks with Martin, Chessum and Chessum (the younger). I agree Chessum (the older) has been good.

Yes, I completely agree. It's a big reason why we lost. We were so committed to the territory game plan we abandoned any chance of using the ball any other way.

When Ford and Lawrence were on right at the end chasing the game, we had a brief glimpse into a world where England dare to use the ball, and it looked good.
