Kicking off in Israel
Reports that Gazans in Khan Younis are being ordered (and threatened) to return North, despite Israeli warnings to remain in the south as the war is not over.
Israel forces apparently using smoke bombs and firing in the air to try and keep them from going north, some injuries recorded.
Also reported that Hamas ambushed IDF after the ceasefire was in place:

Israel know that no one is going to stop them and know that whatever they do the world will move on. They’ve known this for a long time and don’t care, the US will never turn against them and the rest don’t matter.C69 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 22, 2023 8:18 pm From all the pics from Gaza it looks more like a preconstruction site. It looks to me like somewhat that needs to be bulldozed and a new City built upon.
Was this an objective from the very begining? Ask the citizens to leave so that the infra structure can be destroyed and then then resettled with Israelis?
Has this even been muted by Israelis?
It looks like ethnic cleansing techniques. A coordinated strategy like the settlements.
I hope I am wrong but the pictures show a deliberate attempt to create an unhabitable desolate wasteland that no one will ever be able or want to return to for years.
It's whole water and sanitation and gas and electricity destroyed, it will have to all be levelled and rebuilt.
This must be deliberate and have been talked about by the Israeli political parties at some time.
Edit: not sure about the bit about settling it with Israelis, but Gaza isn’t going to be anything like it was before by the time this is finished
And yet at the same time Israel in many ways for many involved will not have moved on from the Oct 7th massacre/mass kindnap, indeed they'll feel threatened people are telling them they need to bring to a halt a scenario in which they're lashing out trying to feel safe. And they'll be in many ways even more aggrieved to hear that coming out of the US when they basically acted on US advice to set up a staged entry into Gaza, they'd have probably gone much harder much sooner.
Anyway, it's very easy to point at either side and establish a clear blame/wrong, none of it helps really.
The hostages, well that's a clusterfuck. Trying to work out who has whom where, and then trying to coordinate their return to a safe site that doesn't see them hit by a missile on the way, nor those delivering them hit by one on their return back. And every exchange of information goes back and forwards between say Qatar and various others and has at minimum 4 exchanges of information in a horrible game of Chinese Whispers, and not surprisingly not everyone (on both sides) is always acting in the interest of the hostages so false info goes both ways and the whole thing breaks down again, or it's just practically near impossible to arrange. And that even if Hamas could speak to all the hostages, which they can't so its much worse again.

Israel: watch us destroy all the things you need to function as a normal country.
Also Israel: why won't you behave like a normal country?
I think he's referring to the fact that both sides have agreed to a ceasefire, and at a certain time, and yet rockets were still fired at Israel 15 minutes after that time. Israel have respected the timed ceasefire, and don't appear to have responded.Uncle fester wrote: ↑Fri Nov 24, 2023 12:02 pmIsrael: watch us destroy all the things you need to function as a normal country.

You would figure somewhere between Oswald Mosely and Tommy Robinson.
I posted an article which had been already published by several media agencies as an incident, even the Canadian government were using such language.Uncle fester wrote: ↑Fri Nov 24, 2023 12:55 pmSo you're a hypocrite who can be ignored when you start bleating about media bias in future?Ymx wrote: ↑Fri Nov 24, 2023 12:08 pmThis might be difficult for you ..Uncle fester wrote: ↑Fri Nov 24, 2023 11:57 am

Media bias is a huge problem still. Look at the sky stuff only just above. Burley expressed sentiment at Israeli hostages.
It might well be why you are so antisemitic in your take.

Nice to have some good news
Hamas cancelled the hostage release at the last moment, claiming Israel broke the agreement and didn't allow enough aid trucks to the north. Israel claim their info must be delayed, and that if the hostages aren't released by midnight they start bombing again.
Gazans are apparently posting videos of the trucks arriving and in the agreed number, in the hopes of preventing the breakdown.

Reported that Qatar had indications that hamas planned to scuttle the deal last night, and sent an official to negotiate. There was a jet from Qatar that arrived at Tel Aviv that was wondered about, likely this guy. Qatar apparently applying pressure to Hamas to release hostages.

Hamas has released 13 Israelis and four Thai nationals in a second round of swaps under a ceasefire deal.
The Palestinian militant group initially delayed the exchange for several hours, claiming Israel had violated the terms of a truce deal.
The 17 hostages were released to the Red Cross and have arrived in Israel, via Egypt.
Shortly after midnight (local time), Israel began releasing 39 Palestinian prisoners to east Jerusalem and the West Bank as part of the swap that ultimately went through after international mediation efforts.
The deal appeared to stall earlier on Saturday as Hamas's al-Qassam Brigades said the plan would be delayed until Israel adhered "to the terms of the agreement", with particular issues in aid deliveries and the selection criteria for Israel's prisoner releases.
Under the truce — the first break in the seven-week war — 50 women and children held by Hamas were to be released in stages over four days in return for 150 Palestinian women and children who are among thousands of detainees in Israeli jails.
Hamas fighters freed 24 hostages on Friday — 13 Israelis, 10 Thai farm workers and a Filipino — and 24 Palestinian women and 15 teenagers were later released from Israeli detention.
Egypt said it received positive signals from all parties over a possible extension of the truce for one or two days as it holds extensive talks.
"[This] means the release of more detainees in Gaza and Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails," Diaa Rashwan, the head of Egypt's State Information Service said.
After more than a year in prison, Palestinian Qusai Taqatqa reunited with his family and had breakfast in his house in the occupied West Bank city of Bethlehem.
"It's an indescribable feeling, thank God I am among my family and among my mother and father, this means the world to me, thank God anyway," Mr Taqatqa told Reuters.

Israeli hostages being freedC69 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 22, 2023 9:35 am I wonder if we can get the pictures and back stories of all the thousands of Palestinian political prisoners held without charge on the MSM in the West.
Interviews with their families etc. These are a essentially hostages taken by Israel as bargaining tools. How surprising there has been no mention of this in the UK.
Both sides are a disgrace but the sheer scale of detentions of Palestinian civilians and children being held indefinitely without trial as per he article is horrific.
A light needs to be shone on this.
Let's hope to God the 240 Hamas hostages and the several thousand Palestinian hostages are released and those responsible on both sides are held to account..

The terms “lost” and “found” are misleading.
8 year old Emily was “lost” when she was kidnapped from a kibbutz by Hamas terrorists.
She was “found” 50 days later when she was exchanged by Hamas for 3 Palestinian prisoners.

Israel can FO with the summons though. Clearly a disingenuous ploy to try and bully the Irish government into backing their policies.[22] But the father said to his servants, `Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet; [23] and bring the fatted calf and kill it, and let us eat and make merry; [24] for this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.

Apparently Hamas are blocking aid and ambulances going north. Yesterday they accused Israel of not letting sufficient aid get North to try and break the ceasefire. It was down that enough did go through.

I don't think it's unreasonable to say Ireland is very vocally pro Palestine. The wording can then be easily viewed as trying to lessen the fact that a child was kidnapped and returned as part of a exchange deal. I very much doubt that was what Leo meant, but it's simple enough to see that no? Especially when framed from where it is coming from.
