Look like Jake Whites poaching policy is not working well.
N24
Bulls mentor Jake White again raised the Springboks' overseas player policy in the aftermath of the URC final.
He argues the system will eventually harm the local franchises irrevocably because they won't even have the leverage of telling a player his international career is dependent on staying.
Despite their success in the market, the Bulls have still seen some key players depart for better offers in Europe and Japan.
While it's expected that the majority of his Bulls vintage for 2021/22 will remain intact for next season, Jake White has again reiterated that the Springboks' overseas ruling must be revisited if franchises are to remain strong in Europe.

Saturday's 18-13 loss to the Stormers in the United Rugby Championship(URC) final at Cape Town Stadium snapped the Bulls' streak of success in showpiece matches and also proved stalwart Arno Botha's last match for the franchise before departing for Lyon in France.

With a weekend report also intimating that inspirational skipper Marcell Coetzee was going to supplement his income with a short-term stint in Japan before his Bok recall, there's a distinct sense that White's dream of building a team over four to five years might be a pipe dream due to market realities.

And the Bulls' director of rugby believes giving players free reign to still play in the Green-and-Gold while representing foreign clubs merely adds to the exodus.

"It shouldn't be allowed," said White.

"They can't be overseas and then come back and be a Springbok. It cheapens everything we stood for.

"The reality is quite simple. Why would you stay in SA?

"Ask every guy if he'd work in London for double his salary or stay here and the answer would generally be the same because they can come back and play for the Boks too."

As much as White has achieved much success with his recruitment over the past two years, he's also lost players of national interest in Marco van Staden, Trevor Nyakane and Ivan van Zyl.

Underrated lock Walt Steenkamp and his previous partner-in-crime Sintu Manjezi as well as brilliant winger Madosh Tambwe are moving on.

As a result, White argues there's going to come a time when national interest starts harming franchises pronouncedly.

"We can build a team now and in two years all of them disappear. How do we make franchises stronger?

"I'm obviously excited by my players' development but how can I tell them to trust me that in four years we'll demolish everyone if I have no hold on them?

"It's another thing in SA Rugby that we just can't control."

Welcome to the world of Freestate supporters Jake.

I wonder how many poor players were told "stick with us and you'll be a Bok someday" by Jake the snake, only the someday never came and they ended up playing in the lower leagues scrap heap earning peanuts.
Fact is there's only so many Bok spots available and you only have a few years to make team.

Jake and Gert have a dream team behind them in Willem Strauss and Rathbone.

Just think what Dobson would achieve with this management team and sponsors

No thanks.

Perhaps you guys should concentrate on keeping White, he has a habit of jumping ship.

Finally Jake White found his home.

SS
Jake White has committed his future to the Vodacom Bulls and from now on, the team will only get better and better.

That was the promise from the former Springbok coach and current Director of Rugby for the Pretoria team after he extended his contract to the end of 2027.

White said he had found his happy place in Pretoria and now that he had committed, the side would only get “stronger and stronger” going forward.

I'd rather he do a stint coaching an overseas first. Maybe at a Premiership side.

If he's been missing since 14 November then that's worrying news. Last November the former SA Schools captain Muzi Manyike went missing and was found dead months later. Family and friends don't know where he is. That's a very bad sign.

Yeah that is very worrying, specially if his family does not know where he is either. Thats a long time without talking to any family or friends.

Jake White dont want to appoint Morne Steyn as kicking coach.

IOL
Flyhalf Manie Libbok has the backing of one of South Africa’s most prolific goal-kickers, Morné Steyn, to fire for the Springboks at the World Cup in France.

Steyn was recently announced as the Lions’ kicking consultant ahead of the United Rugby Championship and Challenge Cup, after retiring from playing earlier this year.

He has signed with the Ellis Park, Joburg-based team for the next two years.

Libbok is currently the only specialist flyhalf in the Springboks’ RWC group after Handré Pollard missed the cut after not recovering in time from a calf injury.
“A guy like Manie Libbok has worked his ar*e off to be where he is,” Steyn said.

“He sat behind me (at the Bulls), he sat behind a lot of guys and worked hard. They did not give him the opportunities.

“He is doing well now. Last weekend (when Libbok slotted five out of five kicks against the All Blacks in a record victory in London), we saw that he can be that 90% (success rate) goal-kicker when it is needed from him.

“He kicked very well at the Stormers, so I don’t know what happened the previous three games.”

Libbok maintained a 100% goal kicking record against the All Blacks last Friday night, and his coaches will hope that he can continue producing that kind of form during the pool stages of the World Cup, which starts in France next Friday.

He struggled with his radar in the match against Wales a few weeks ago, but Bok coach Jacques Nienaber and teammates put their faith in him to do the job at Twickenham.

And the classy No 10 did just that as the world champions put the New Zealanders to the sword in a battle dominated by their forwards and the “Bomb Squad”, while the backs – marshalled by Libbok – showed enough glimpses of what they could do should they start running the ball on attack.

South Africa will face Scotland (10 September) in their first Pool B match, and will take on Romania (17 September), Ireland (24 September), and Tonga (1 October) in their other pool clashes.

Steyn said it’s all about taking momentum from that All Black result into the World Cup.

“We all saw on Friday night what they can do and the type of rugby they can play. I am excited about the World Cup ... it will be an exciting one. I think the team is ready (for what awaits).”

The 39-year-old, who claimed the record for the most points (62) at the 2011 World Cup, said he was eager to grab the opportunity to start his coaching career at the Lions.

He is seen as a Loftus and Blue Bulls legend after winning three Currie Cups, three Super Rugby titles and a Super Rugby Unlocked trophy with the Pretoria side.

“It’s a funny story ... I spoke to the Bulls and was supposed to start there in August with the juniors, because the senior team did not want me as a kicking coach,” Steyn said.

“Behind the scenes, I heard Jake (White, Bulls director of rugby) did not want me there anymore as he had other plans.

“The Lions gave me the opportunity, and it’s awesome to get it so early in my career.”

Boishaai produced some great nr 8s lately. Roos , Horn & Hanekom and last year Fuller (he is a yster flanker). Dobson hold onto Fuller, so leave Hanekom at the Bulls.

Bulls launched their new kit for the 24/25 season. Glad they are incorporating the Barberton Daisy back into the logo. The daisy is also now in the side panels in 80's style digitized form.
