7 new cases in WA overnight, all are foreign sailors aboard a ship at Port Headland.
Edit: One thing I have noticed is that in terms of announcing their daily covid-19 there is a big disparity between the states. Victoria's data comes out first, around 8-8.39am. QLD's data emerges 2nd around 9am and NSW comes out around 10am. WA is really tardy, even taking into account the timezone. It comes out between 4-6pm EST.

A lot of talk about among the political set regarding trans Tasman travel again over the last couple of days. It seems that the Federal govt has accepted the idea of different regions employing different international access instead of the one border approach they insisted on a few months ago.

That would be great and sounds like a common sense approach. It's startling that just about every stance that the Morrison government has initially taken relating to COVID-19 has been found to be wrong, and then resulted in a policy backflip.Shanky’s mate wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 12:14 am A lot of talk about among the political set regarding trans Tasman travel again over the last couple of days. October 19 is the date my fellow Victorians and I are eagerly awaiting. While some restrictions have eased from today, on 19 October hospo will be back in action with outdoor service only. That is, if the current trend downwards continues.

October 20th could be quite a night out in Melbourne. I wonder if people will hit town by the millions, or if locals will be more circumspect given everything that has happened?Jimmy Smallsteps wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 3:57 am October 19 is the date my fellow Victorians and I are eagerly awaiting. Judging by European standards it’ll make Millennium NYE look like a wet Tuesday night in March.Carter's Choice wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 6:34 amOctober 20th could be quite a night out in Melbourne. Thank God.
If the general public was given a vote for the future direction of the battle against Covid, would it be in favour of controlling the outbreaks or eradication?Carter's Choice wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 1:26 amThat would be great and sounds like a common sense approach. I think controlling, because eradication is very hard to do. But controlling 'Australian' style, which means very low numbers of daily infections (5-10 per day nationally).Enzedder wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 9:42 pmIf the general public was given a vote for the future direction of the battle against Covid, would it be in favour of controlling the outbreaks or eradication?Carter's Choice wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 1:26 amThat would be great and sounds like a common sense approach. Why would Melbourne behave any differently to the rest of Australia, you twat? They’ll be flat out getting into it and getting on with it and all pretence of social distancing will be out the window within 5 minutes..
Just as it is around the rest of the country.

So now Gladys is trying to force people back into the CBD to stimulate the economy.
Reading comments, people are not keen - Australia has been very behind the times with regards to working from home, now people hace the chance, they are not going to give it up

I don't think Australia's CBD's will ever return to their pre-covid normal. Not for health reasons, but for economic reasons. It is cheaper for employees to work from home, and less time is wasted commuting to and from work.mat the expat wrote: ↑Wed Sep 30, 2020 12:20 am So now Gladys is trying to force people back into the CBD to stimulate the economy.

Most companies have realised that this is the case ans productivity hasn't dipped.
A lot of the "Must be in the office to be working" Middle-managers were made redundant as well.
Local shops and cafes are doing a roaring trade
Eventually, a lot of office blocks will be converted to Units - the block I moved a company into only have 4 years before that happens

Fair to say that there are more new cases in the White House cluster than there are in all of Australia over the past 24 hours?

If the data is too believed, there is very little covid-19 in Australia. I hope they are correct but I am also worried that there is much more of the virus in the community than we are aware of.

Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton has told people to "hold the line" after television footage aired of people gathering in droves at St Kilda beach ahead of warm weather this weekend.
“Don’t risk everything. What we can hold back now means a truly normal summer. Please - Hold. The. Line”, Professor Sutton tweeted after a large gathering of people surrounded a television reporter, grabbing and kissing his face in breach of COVID-19 restrictions.
It shows Seven News reporter Paul Dowsley attempting to warn Victorians of the current restrictions while a group of up to 70 people gather behind him.

There's only 700 odd NZers in St Kilda, and we don't know how many of them were actually raised in Australia, so should be considered Australians. There's less Irish.Green light echo wrote: ↑Sun Oct 04, 2020 8:20 amSo am I but I suppose that says a bit more about their countries not oursJb1981 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 04, 2020 5:27 amThat sounds horrible. That's a lot of odd New Zealanders but St Kilda seems to attract odd characters. A more detailed look at the current state of play here in Aust. Just 286 total active cases is very pleasing, as is only 46 cases currently in hospital.
