Great win but if anything that game proves why Ford,
Care, Slade and Daly should never see and England shirt again.

Fucking drop goal  :lolno:

Fair dues England, played their best match in a long while.

Faz needs to take some flack here: the team is regressing in this competition. And Connor Murray was on the pitch because of him.
Disappointing performance for Ireland.

Are we pretending Ford didn't have a big hand in how well our attacking game went?

Agree on the others, even though Slade also had his best attacking game in ages

Another fantastic finish!

Expected Ireland's usual professionalism to see them through, but not today - fair play England.

No GS but Ireland will wrap up the title easily next week.

Loved everything about that, superb game and a great win. Maybe some humble pie from some of Borthwick’s critics?

England have to go all in with Marcus Smith, build a team around players like him, van Poortvliet and Chessum

I think it was despite, not because of Ford, he just booted the ball after the first 15 mins, reverted to type

He seemed to go into his shell though and that coincided with Ireland really coming back into the game

We need to be ruthless and move on. If Marcus Smith is available he should be starting. MSmith is 25 so will be in his prime over the next 3 years.

Nah, England did exactly what everyone had been begging for and threw the game plan England have used for 18 matches under Borthwick away. Full credit to him for coaching them to play like this, but it doesn't change what's come before.

Fingers crossed the result persuades them this is the way to go at home and away, too. Loads to love about it.

One swallow.

That's the first game that actually felt like progress. It would have been even without the result.

We are slowly but surely stumbling towards the most optimal backline. Furbank - Feyi-Waboso - Freeman is a much, much better back three than the configuration we started the tournament with.

BOD with the classic "this was good for the competition" coping strategy. We've all been there.

Think this is a bit mad to be honest. England were a much better team when Ford was on. Really all Smith did was drop a goal that anyone would have done, under little pressure as he had the penalty. All seems a bit emotional which is fair enough

I will admit that with the number of times a Celtic team has burst England's championship bubble over the years, it's nice to get one back. Albeit we've only delayed the crowning by a week, I back Ireland to get the job done against Scotland next week and claim the title

Yeah well you're wrong, sorry. And it's not like he wasn't prepared to attack in the second half either. No need to go overboard about the guy who played a pivotal role in our attacking game. No question his kicking off the tee was bad and some of his kicks from hand weren't good, but we didn't spend the second half kicking it away.

Give him a chance under a different club coach at Tigers. He needs to play well for his tigers 1st.

He did everything with speed since he came on. The England rush defense had the Irish on the backfoot. Making mistakes.

And we need to see how he comes back from this long term injury. Maybe he's fine, but maybe he's a lesser player. Either way it's premature to be talking about him in the international conversation.

Smith completely changed the dynamic of the England attack...offered a lot of threat ball in hand which Ford never does...he is very predictable and much easier to defend against.
