Sharks had a much better 2nd half. Glasgow at least haven't got a bonus point and had to defend well to keep the Sharks out.

Faletau injured yet again, poor sod. Only just back from a calf injury he got after only just coming back from a broken arm.

Koperaal. This win by the Lions cramp up the log even more. They have an easy run out to the final.

That was a great try. First Zebo breaks the line for the first time in a decade, & then a great cross kick, & strength by Hodnett

Love Hodnett, the pocket rocket that he is.

Match official kit isn't the most flattering to their physiques.

Brilliant result for Munster. Red card or no, that's a very good performance.
Thought the ref was very good to; good comms, & didn't fall for any of the gamesmanship from either side, it was always just play on !

Bulls v Munster was the match of the round so far. Bulls shouldn't have taken Le Roux off, with Goosen getting red carded doing that meant their attack had no strong play makers close to the ball, meant all they could do was bash and hope. Goosen did a rugby moron move getting that red card, Bulls were getting on top before that. Arendse was brilliant on defence down to 14, saved at least one try with his tackling could debate if he stopped one or two more.
Big win for Munster. Bulls gave it everything, they're not winning the title if they cannot improve.

Help me out here please. Which SA teams play home games at altitude?
Lions (Joburg). Bulls (Pretoria) and Cheetahs (Bloemfontein) are both also above 1000m but not as high as Joburg. They all get the altitude tag from commentators.Uncle fester wrote: ↑Sat Apr 20, 2024 5:40 pm Help me out here please. Which SA teams play home games at altitude?
Stomps (CT) and Sharks (Durban) are both a very short walk from the sea.

Agree. Losing Fourie IA massive but hey, let's give credit to Ospreys Cheetahs. The were good and deserved the win.
Edinburgh were dreadful in the first half against a poor Scarlets side, but rallied in the second period to win 43 - 18. That takes Edinburgh up to 8th in the table, on numbers of games won. It's very tight.
Edinburgh will need to show that second half form in the remaining games in order to be in with a shout of the play offs.

Bad day of results from an Ulster POV.
The race for a playoff/ERC spot is shaping up nicely. Massive game for Ulster next week, against Benetton. After that, we should beat Scarlets but are likely to get done by Leinster and Munster, so I reckon 48-50pts is probably our max.

Ian Madigan for Ireland.

I'll be a lazy bar steward & ask the Q rather than check myself; if Leinster get to stitch that 5th Star on their jerseys, does that mean that the 9th place spot in the URC qualifies for the Champions Cup, as the returning winner automatically qualifies ?
I ask because that's how Connacht qualified once in the past on the back of a Leinster win.

Was that the time shown in the documentary about Connacht, when Eric Elwood led them so passionately?
That turned me into a supporter

Different era from the times Connacht qualified that way. It's strictly 8 teams per league now.fishfoodie wrote: ↑Sat Apr 20, 2024 10:20 pm I'll be a lazy bar steward & ask the Q rather than check myself; if Leinster get to stitch that 5th Star on their jerseys, does that mean that the 9th place spot in the URC qualifies for the Champions Cup, as the returning winner automatically qualifies ?

If the Champions Cup or Challenge Cup winner don't finish in the top 8 and therefore miss out on qualifying automatically through their league, then they would take a spot and the lowest ranked side in 8th would miss out instead (or theoretically the sides in 7th and 8th miss out if both Champions and Challenge Cup winners come from the same league and both finish 9th or lower).
2020/21 Top 14, Montpellier finished 10th but qualified for the 2021/22 Champions Cup as 2020/21 Challenge Cup winners and 8th placed Toulon missed out.
2021/22 Top 14, Lyon finished 9th but qualified for the 2022/23 Champions Cup as 2021/22 Challenge Cup winners and 8th placed Toulon missed out.
Your problems start before Libbok. But it's fair to say he is having a shite season. It goes like that. Creates more competition for the 10 jersey nationally. Your front row is aging and Ginger is coming back but he is hardly the player he was. Dobson is going to have to dig deeper into the player budget and find some extra roupies for some decent props. Maybe sell off Dewba. And hope you get some value back.

Chance for Glasgow to go top after the next round, but of course they still have their own SA tour to negotiate, including a game against the Bulls.
A red card will do that.
I thought the Sharks result was outstanding in the context of it being our B side against number 2 on the log and away....
We can be proudest of all the Saffer sides that took losses on the weekend.
Onwards and upwards.
There is a huge log jam at 40 and 39 points on the log...
Imagine if the Sharks win the challenge cup......whoever ends on 8 in the log could be making way for the Sharks....
That could very well be the Lions or Stormers......
All to play for.
And the Lions Stormers match takes on huge significance
