Can a 30 point loss be considered a minor success? Probably not, but its interesting to note that the Dragons at least engineered a number of opportunities in the Leinster 22, and a few right on the line.
Had they had a functional line out, they may have got a score or two more. Same old issues mind. Won and lost up front. If the Dragons had even a semblance of a front 5, they'd have been in that match for a lot longer.

Christ. That lineout... Fucking excruciating.
The speed of Leinster ball was way too fast... Needed a genuine 7. That said, in previous seasons that would have been 50+ bumming so could have been worse.
No coincidence that the best period was when screech and basham came on. I'm not particularly impressed by maksyimw so far.
I still want to see us with Bateman and brown in tandem to give us more carrying, basham or griffiths at 7 to give us the proper jackaller we need, and Tompkins at 12 for getting the ball wider to what is increasingly looking like a decent back 3.

I thought the Dragons were reasonably fast with the ball from rucks and scrums, but Leinster were so much faster and they seemed far more confident with the ball in hand. At times the Dragons players looked lost, unsure of what to do.
But yeah, that lineout was a fucking disgrace.
EDIT: I didn't get to see any of the Blues game, how well did they go? Apart from winning i mean.

Not pretty viewing, apparently our tactics were to play off the ball and defend, which we did rather well. Standouts were Seb and SLH(who I named as our starting 6 in the 8N, just saying), SLH especially was a man among and against boys. Backs were ponderous, Amos, Adams and Lee-lo aside. LL.Williams is a fine player, but doesn't fit the way our backs want to play.bessantj wrote: ↑Sat Oct 03, 2020 12:35 pm I thought the Dragons were reasonably fast with the ball from rucks and scrums, but Leinster were so much faster and they seemed far more confident with the ball in hand. I know Moore has had all the hyper, but I'd take everyone of James Botham, Will Boyde, Ellis Jenkins, Alun Lawrence, Shane Lewis-Hughes, Josh Navidi, Olly Robinson, Josh Turnbull over him, not sure why we signed him.
Still, was the easiest game of the season(bar the Dregs and Os I guess) and it was far from a romp.
This is already looking like it will be a much better contest, Scarlets one penalty to the good after 20 mins.
I’m streaming it, C69.
Another pen gets banged over and then Peter O’Mahoney gets yellow carded for shoulder-barging a ruck. Halfpenny now lining up a 3rd pen from a mile out... and nails out.
9-0 after 25mins, Munster down to 14.

Fair shout. Bit early in the season to be going all Genghis Khan, though.
Munster work a lovely little bit of interplay down the blindside and Jack Donahue skips in for a meat pie.
9-7
Any chance of a link?Ali Cadoo wrote: ↑Sat Oct 03, 2020 2:21 pm This is already looking like it will be a much better contest, Scarlets one penalty to the good after 20 mins.

Yeah, for a second there I thought it would ignite but it fairly ambled along in that half. At least Zebre provided some entertaining intent... most exciting thing so far has been Cawdor looking for a scrap with everyone in glaring distance.
So needs to be a lot better but at least you got the win and away as well. Interesting to hear about Lewis Hughes, hopefully he'll get into the squad for November.Theflier wrote: ↑Sat Oct 03, 2020 1:03 pmNot pretty viewing, apparently our tactics were to play off the ball and defend, which we did rather well. Javan Sebastian. Looks a decent player. And that scrum was impressive.
New Munster fly half having a shocker so far
