Agreed, are Australia as bad as they look, or are the Bokke clearly the outstanding team currentlyOomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2024 2:17 pmRound 3 will tell us a lot of where we are at the moment.

Any SA URC franchise will dominate the Wallaby scrum and lineout. That has been always their worry. That's rugby basic rule.

Ireland last month already showed us where we are. We are getting carried away by two wins against a shambolic australian team

And that is the problem, the boks and the favourite tag do not play well together. I am not sure why the boks cannot motivate themselves the same way when they are favourites as they would when they have their backs against the wall. Maybe Rassie needs to find a good sport psychologist for the team.
And when that favourite tag goes together with an away trip, (many examples of past EOYT games) it can get even worse. That is where the All Blacks are generally really good. The boks need to find a way to convert the motivation they get from playing pressure knockout games in the WC to other games where they are the favourites to win. It is very frustrating that they can get themselves motivated for 1 month of pressure rugby but find it difficult for the 4 years in between.

Locks and 9s are weak. The rest is great.
Specially at altitude On the bright side I am interested to see how Razor develops this team, not expecting a great year, but at least retaining the Bledisloe would be cool It looks like he already has the rush defense covered, something Fozzie failed to do.
Springboks squad for the 2 ABs tests:
Outside backs: Kurt-Lee Arendse (Bulls), Aphelele Fassi (Sharks), Cheslin Kolbe (Suntory Sungoliath), Willie le Roux (Bulls), Makazole Mapimpi (Sharks), Canan Moodie (Bulls).
Midfielders: Lukhanyo Am (Sharks), Damian de Allende (Wild Knights), Andre Esterhuizen (Sharks), Jesse Kriel (Canon Eagles).
First five-eighths: Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu (Stormers), Manie Libbok (Stormers), Handre Pollard (Leicester Tigers).
Halfbacks: Jaden Hendrikse (Sharks), Cobus Reinach (Montpellier), Grant Williams (Sharks).

The midfield and outside backs are gonna cut us to ribbons.

All Blacks squad for the 2 tests in SA:
Hookers: Asafo Aumua, Codie Taylor, George Bell
Props: Ethan De Groot, Tyrel Lomax, Fletcher Newell, Pasilio Tosi, Ofa Tu’ungafasi, Tamaiti Williams
Locks: Scott Barrett (captain), Sam Darry, Josh Lord, Tupou Vaa’i
Loose forwards: Ethan Blackadder, Sam Cane, Samipeni Finau, Luke Jacobson, Dalton Papali’i, Ardie Savea (vice-captain), Wallace Sititi
Halfbacks: Noah Hotham, TJ Perenara, Cortez Ratima
First five-eighths: Beauden Barrett, Damian McKenzie
Midfielders: Jordie Barrett (vice-captain), David Havili, Rieko Ioane, Anton Lienert-Brown, Billy Proctor
Outside backs: Caleb Clarke, Will Jordan, Ruben Love, Harry Plummer, Sevu Reece, Mark Tele’a
Patrick Tiupulotu and Stephen Perofeta are both injured. Good to see that Ethan de Groot's neck has come right and he's fit to travel, and that Harry Plummer's been formally included in the squad (although no idea why he's listed in the outside backs).

I'll post the relevant article on the All Blacks thread, but Leon MacDonald has quit his assistant coaching role.

I genuinely fear for the All Blacks against Sefrica. We were shambolic against the Argies in the first and ok for about 50 minutes in the second. We have no attack structure, Mackenzie is all over the place and his kicking out of hand is very poor. We’re not going to get within 35 points of them. It’s potentially a 50+ point total against us.
Nah, the All Blacks usually manage to dig deep and find a their mojo when playing the Boks.ScarfaceClaw wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 7:29 am I genuinely fear for the All Blacks against Sefrica. I'd be very surprised if it doesn't end 1-1 with two close matches. Less than 10-points winning margin in both matches.

This All Blacks underdog tag is not a good sign. The mockers dont like it.
Tony Brown has made a huge difference to our attack.ScarfaceClaw wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 7:29 am I genuinely fear for the All Blacks against Sefrica. Look like Moerat to start against the All Blacks. Eben and RG out.
