If you're a cunt off the booze; you're a worst cunt on the booze, & if you're a jovial bloke on the booze, you;re ditto off it.

It's an amplifier of your innate personality, not an excuse !
Hmm, I've known more than a few who are pleasant until they're in their cups. Now, it may well be that their day to day is just a facade, but anyone who's a cunt and suppresses it is doing everyone a favour and at least trying imo.

Definitely not an excuse for Hogg, mind. Just thinking out loud that if he's to try and turn things around and stop digging his increasingly deep hole, not drinking would be a good start. He clearly makes dreadful decisions and is unable to exert any control over his worst impulses while lashed.
We can agree to disagree; but my observation can only be that Hogg was clearly not continuously drunk in his marriage, & the court case makes it clear that his behaviour was continuous, & not some intermittent lapse when he was drunk
True, and certainly with the amount of rumoured shagging around you'd think it not possible for him to be plastered that often and hold down being a pro player, but I'm thinking mainly of the headline incidents that have brought him real trouble with tangible consequences.
- the bender (and cheating) that saw him given the option to retire rather than be booted out of the Scotland WC squad
- Christmas Time kerfuffle at the wife's house that resulted in restraining order
- this breach of his bail

I boil it down.

- Kids who've heard the fights, & just want security
- An adult man who can't accept his responsibilities

Nah, there's a problem with the gargle. Tackle that and other things might sort themselves out.

Final warning! Coercive, controlling and threatening behaviour. What a nice chap.
Stuart Hogg has been warned that he will be sent to prison if there is another breach of his bail conditions after he admitted contact with his estranged wife, Gillian.
The British & Lions ace appeared in Jedburgh Sheriff Court after being arrested on Tuesday for repeatedly contacting Gillian. He spent a night in the cells, where he admitted breaching his bail, and sentencing has been deferred.

Hogg, 32, is set to stand trial later this month after being charged with stalking in Glasgow and Hawick and sending messages of an alarming and distressing nature in Hawick and Devon.

It is alleged that he monitored his wife’s communications, tracked her movements, controlled her family life for seven years and also accused her of infidelity.

The bolded is very common for cheaters. Projecting their own behaviour onto their partner and, in a bout of stunning hypocrisy, try and prevent it.

Because they think their behaviour is normal and everyone is the same as them, in an attempt to make their behaviour ok in their own mind.

Time to see if that threat of prison for breaching bail will be made good on, he's just been arrested for exactly that.

Guy needs proper help, from a psychiatrist, rather than this famous-people-self-help bollocks he seems to have had so far.

Seems to have been lifted on Monday for a new breach of bail, presumably contacting the family. Locked up overnight and bailed this morning. New trail date of the 4th November.
Either incredibly arrogant or incredibly stupid.

Or maybe incredibly drunk, if past escapades are any indication. None of the possible interpretations - arrogant, stupid, drunk - are good, mind.

Wondering what he's doing back in Borders if he's supposed to be playing in Perpignan this weekend. Is he unfit or just taking a quick trip home to harass the ex?

If you're on bail and breach your bail conditions then get bailed again it's probably a bit of arrogance coupled with a weak judicial system.

Do the rest of them get released on weekends to play ?

It's a bit of a commute down from Scotland on weekend release.

He was due in court for the initial offence which makes it even more astonishing.

Fucking idiot, and laughable legal system.

Put the cunt behind bars for a week or 2, and if that doesn't work, hit him with all sorts of fines and the prospect of doing real time.

The family shouldn't have to deal with him showing up and acting the cunt whenever he fancies, and getting a slap on the wrist each time.

His ability on the field has no bearing on the fact he has always been an arse. His infidelities go back years, he was notorious at Glasgow. How he stayed married so long is a mystery.

I was never aware of these until all this happened. It's certainly tainted my view of him in the context of him being a Scotland legend. Whilst it doesn't change the fact that he's one of Scotland's best ever (arguably best) players I'd not consider him a legend.

What's the situation re prison capacity in Scotland currently? We're seeing an astonishing amount of leniency when it comes to sentencing due to prisons being at capacity in England. It even impacts on recall decisions, which is appalling.

I kind of get that. I think in Scotland we expect our rugby players to be good, salt of the earth types. Anyone with an outsize ego generally gets the boot. I guess because it's such a tiny community.

Letting folk out early as in England, with the result being a young guy was released after slashing someone only to kill someone within half an hour of release

Hogg in court today.
Former Scotland rugby captain Stuart Hogg has pleaded guilty to a charge of domestic abuse against his former partner, covering incidents over a five-year period.

Hogg – who earned 100 caps for Scotland before his retirement last year – appeared at Selkirk Sheriff Court on Monday.

The court heard that Hogg’s actions left his former partner feeling fearful and wishing “for it to be morning as soon as possible.” He admitted to sending 200 text messages within a few hours following the breakup of their marriage and to using tracking apps to monitor her location.

The court also heard that Hogg would often return home after drinking with colleagues, engaging in abusive behaviour, including shouting, swearing, and accusing his ex-wife of “not being fun” for choosing to stay upstairs with their children.

Sentence has been deferred until 5 December, when a full mitigation will be provided by Hogg's legal team.
Given the prick has repeatedly breached the court orders & been re-arrested twice (?), I think he should do some actual time, however short. Just enough to lose him his job
