Who, my posting , or her driving and command skills ?

From more serious websites than the one I linked , initial investigation seems that:
Autopilot was accidentally left on
Ship crashed into the thing it was meant to survey
Evacuation occurred without ships extensive fire suppression systems being activated properly
Ship then sank

All in all, it was a massive cock up for her

Old enough to differentiate between a box ticking excercise , and a box licking one

The Captain involved is English, Yeeb. Trained by the Royal Navy and migrated to NZ with her British wife in 2012.

You thought about trying to open the hatch before launching your torpedo, at all? Might save the messy stain on the front of your pants.

Harrogate-born Yvonne Gray trained as a teacher and once hoped to open her own restaurant. Instead she said she found her perfect niche as a naval officer, first in the Royal Navy and now in the Pacific with the Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN).

It is her first ship command in a naval career that started in the United Kingdom in 1993 as a warfare officer. Her service as a warfare officer ranged from working on aircraft carriers to frigates and mine hunters.

In 2012, Commander Gray and her wife Sharon moved to New Zealand after falling in love with the country during a campervan holiday.

I know she is, didn’t say she was a kiwi , you’ve just nicely set up the ‘so bad looking they had to import some’ punchline.
Her origins were in the link I posted , quite happy the RN didn’t give her a command.

Was she driving the boat when it hit the reef? I thought it was a more junior officer who didn't know they had to disengage the auto pilot to take back steering control.

Nah, been perma since some Irish twat who admitted abusing his kids, didn’t like it when I mocked him for abusing his kids via the means of quoting him where he admitted abusing his kids. Seems he could not take the craig and whinged like a bitch

That will undoubtedly be the case , very likely statistically a straight white man responsible for the fail too. The buck stops with the captain though , and it will be only her castigated and mocked for this incident.

It is quite a sad world that someone saw appropriate to mention her sexuality in the article title, am astounded the editor there thought it was ok or relevant. Joking aside this will annoy the bobble heads from both sides, the dinosaurs who beleive woman and gay women especially should have no place in a navy position of command , and the bobble heads on the other side of the spectrum who think it’s unreasonable to makes every joke under the sun for the multiple failures of command or get upset when it’s mentioned.

I also actually feel sorry for other women (gay or not) in the NZ armed forces , as this event does raise reasonable question marks of competence, promotion reasons, box ticking , and may be an inadvertent barrier to their own careers.

Maybe worth waiting for the results of the investigation before apportioning blame. Without knowing anything about the kiwi navy it doesn't seem that difficult to believe she might have been the best candidate available to them, despite being lesbian handicapped
