That late shot from Saints' 6 is one of the thickest things I've seen on a rugby pitch for a little while.

Macalou milking the penalty only high shot for all it's worth

Saints have had no answer to Stade's maul today. It's almost like watching Exeter of old where a kick to the corner was basically a formality - the try was all but guranteed.

Played well when he came on, but rather pathetic of him trying to milk a penalty and turn it into a card.

Sorry. I meant, why is he not serving a suspension?

Apropos to nothing, but the one player Biography that I might buy for myself instead of getting it as Christmas present, might be Tadhg Beirne's.

I'd love to hear from the man himself just how he had the crazy career path he did, & how he found himself in Wales, & what happened in Leinster that an organization that a lot of teams could only dream to emulate somehow missed such a good player ?

Always had the ability but was permanently injured and they had other players who could stay fit.

Compare it to Kilkenny in hurling (in their heyday), where you have a bad 35 minutes and you're gone forever because they have other players ready to go and the likes of Offaly who couldn't afford to discard any players with ability so they nurtured them.

Toulouse will be wondering if they would be able to beat a full strength Sharks. Thought Klinghorn was superb. Du Pont was meh but still better than Jayden. Well I guess we are out of the Championship Cup. Hopefully Eben can grace the Sharks with a match or 2. Now we can focus on the URC
You can still defend your Challenge Cup title. The Stormers have a mountain to climb the next two weeks in NH conditions against Racing and Leinster.

The Stormers always struggle up north because of their open gameplan. So not counting on anything. The have never lost to Leinster since the start of URC. But I agree Leinster is on another level since NieNaber joined them. He coached at the Stormers and know them inside out. It will be a good experience for those returning and youngsters like Roche, de Villiers ext. Yesterday they slot in nicely and give us a bit of depth. Libbok and Gelant is the secret.

Stormers have a great chance against Leinster in Dublin because of the neutral refs and TMOs.

Everyone's French now. Aside from a small handful of sides who can steamroller everyone else, home advantage is absurdly important and a lot of teams are clearly reassessing the value of this tournament to them

I'm not sure I'd call it home advantage when it's because the travelling team are choosing to send a weak side.

Everyone knows that they only need to win 2 games to get through to the knockout stage and are selecting accordingly.

Amen. Bring back a level of jeopardy and away teams will scrap to get at least a bonus point.

The weakness of the URC historically had allowed Leinster to field 2nd teams for the season, preserving their players for the HEC and intls. A gripe from the French and English which was partly responsible for the European schism.

The only value is the money. If that was marginal, I think plenty of teams would bail and I wouldn't blame them. The format is a sh*tfest.
