They have to make money available for good signings. So it all makes sense. Wondering who they would look at on the wingassfly wrote: Tue Jun 04, 2024 11:14 amI believe there are actually more going too. I hear Nevaldo Fleurs and Diego Appolis are also going. But yes, we needed to clear out the dead weight after that season.Sards wrote: Tue Jun 04, 2024 11:00 am None of those bar Werner will be missed. Who will replace Werner on the wing.........?
There were too many passengers anyway
We've got Marnus Potgieter, Eduan Keyter and Muller du Plessis on the wing but there is not much pedigree there so I assume we'll need to make some signings. The only incoming I've heard of is AE.
With Trevor and Jason Jenkins coming our forwards look good. But definitely a bit thin in the backs.
$hark$ 2023 and beyond

The Lions won't release Hendrikse before December.
It's not like we are the only side spending sponsors money.assfly wrote: Thu Jun 06, 2024 5:28 am Our wage bill has definitely decreased.
We're not the big money-spenders anymore.
I wonder if it's time to retire the $ from the $harks name.
After all the pontificating from the " we don't need money " sides , Leinster has shown some incredible clout from that point of view. We are the poor cousins tbh
No man. Too much noise

Am jumping ship
He's 30, had a hard time with injuries and has lost his Bok jersey to Kriel. Can't blame the guy, I hope he gets a good contract.
Geez man he has done his bit. Loyal Sharks player.assfly wrote: Mon Aug 19, 2024 5:52 amHe's 30, had a hard time with injuries and has lost his Bok jersey to Kriel. Can't blame the guy, I hope he gets a good contract.
With the Boogie man cleaning up in the Currie Cup there's a good chance he will make the URC squad. So we are sorted .
Hope he gets a decent retirement salary
Japan or France. I know which one is better for not getting injured.....assfly wrote: Mon Aug 19, 2024 5:52 amHe's 30, had a hard time with injuries and has lost his Bok jersey to Kriel. Can't blame the guy, I hope he gets a good contract.

He have a lot to offer. Sadly the Sharks could not kept him. For me , he is still our best 13.
That Currie cup team is starting to look great. Pity Hendricks didn't get a run instead of oupa at 10.assfly wrote: Mon Aug 19, 2024 1:41 pm Jaden Hendrikse looked very good in the CC game. Back to his attritional best, good tackles and a couple of turnovers.
Would love to have seen him in action
I don't understand your thoughts.OomStruisbaai wrote: Mon Aug 19, 2024 2:12 pmHe have a lot to offer. Sadly the Sharks could not kept him. For me , he is still our best 13.
Sharks don't keep anyone against their will.
If anything the Sharks is the gateway to lucrative international contracts for the players. They always come back in some role or other.
Go worry about your youth structures and mostly go worry about that funding you are supposed to have. From my understanding a family trust is finite.

Edit: I see he spent some time playing in Waikato.
There is so much happening at the Sharks lately. The URC players are with Plumtree and we don't see them. Andre Esterhuizen has been a Shark again since May I think. Haven't seen anything of him. Jordan Hendricks too. Masuka.......who is he. Peterson is doing a great job with the development players.

Am has been fantastic, deserves a shot at making some greater change whilst broadening his horizons, hope he smashes it and stays available for the Boks.

Kolisi will have to pay his transfer fee of R17 million to Racing. The Sharks don't want to pay up.
I don't think it's a matter of not wanting to pay. My understanding of the situation was that they agreed to the fee but asked if it can be spread over 3 years, which seems reasonable enough to me. But Racing have apparently declined this.OomStruisbaai wrote: Thu Aug 22, 2024 4:20 pm Kolisi will have to pay his transfer fee of R17 million to Racing. The Sharks don't want to pay up.
I love Kolisi, but I don't think we should bankrupt ourselves trying to get him back when he'll only play half the season. Perhaps our wealth neighbours in the Cape can lure him back.

Agreed, resources much better spent elsewhere, even if we could split out any comp.assfly wrote: Fri Aug 23, 2024 11:01 am I love Kolisi, but I don't think we should bankrupt ourselves trying to get him back when he'll only play half the season.
WP just got Kitshoff back. That would have hurtassfly wrote: Fri Aug 23, 2024 11:01 amI don't think it's a matter of not wanting to pay. Would have preferred loaning a youngster from the non URC unions. Has Scarra played this season?
He is a solid player. Probably what the $harks need. Wont be called up to the Boks.

We'll see if we can get him to tackle and give away less ruck penalties. Might develop a decent Bomb-squad player out of him for you.assfly wrote: Tue Mar 04, 2025 1:19 pm Mchunu leaves for the Stormers.
It's such a shame, I thought he was developing into a great prop. Gametime seems a strange excuse, as Ox is usually on Bok duty.
