Two democrat-affiliated politicians shot, one fatally, by someone impersonating a police officer.

As ever it's all projection and accusing the other side of things they would do/actually do.Uncle fester wrote: Mon Jun 16, 2025 7:16 am Also LOL at the right's attempt to paint him as "antifa" before the blood had even dried.
Besides the storied history of state actors infiltrating and attempting to discredit protest movements, the BLM protests threw up numerous cases of MAGAs attempting to false flag and escalate things to paint the other side in a negative light.
Safest way to travel in USA now with roving gangs of ICE agents everywhere.Uncle fester wrote: Mon Jun 16, 2025 10:27 am His wife had guns and passports in her car when she was pulled over.

I've just seen an update on this and am correcting the recordsockwithaticket wrote: Sun Jun 15, 2025 10:59 am Someone opened fire on a No Kings protest in Salt Lake City, 4 injured.
Reddit has some footage circulating of a suspect being arrested trying to hide in the crowd.
A bystander notices something weird about the guy's backpack, grabs it and walks off with it while pointing the guy out to the police. As you can hear from the clip, the bag had a rifle inside it.
It turns out that the guy seen being arrested in the footage I posted was not the shooter.
He had a rifle on him because he was exercising his legal right to open carry (Utah is one of those states) and was hiding after having been shot at, apparently unprovoked, by a member of security staff at the protest who missed him and wounded other protestors. The most seriously injured has now died.
So what looked like one American gun problem (armed lunatics) is a different American gun problem (legal open carry putting everyone on edge and at risk).

It's not like he's only recently spoken in such manner, he's who B.A. Baracus was talking about back in the 80s, and not just because Trump wanted to execute some innocent black kids because some people who weren't him were raping women

Meanwhile, FIFA does what it does second best (after rampant corruption) and caves in to remove its anti-racism and anti-discriminatuon messages from the Club World Cash Grab Cup to avoid angering a would be tyrant.
Point of Information: It was Klubber Lang that was offering pity to fools, not B.A. Baracus

it may've originated in Rocky, I can't speak to that, but it was certainly featured in A-Team, I watched a lot of A-Team aged 7 or so. also, I always assumed it was Clubber Lang, so I've perhaps got that wrong tooPornDog wrote: Tue Jun 17, 2025 1:26 pmPoint of Information: It was Klubber Lang that was offering pity to fools, not B.A. Baracus
Mandela effect. Pretty sure it was never in The A-Team. But just like "Play it again Sam" it has been falsely referenced countless times and since become FACT!Rhubarb & Custard wrote: Tue Jun 17, 2025 4:13 pmit may've originated in Rocky, I can't speak to that, but it was certainly featured in A-Team, I watched a lot of A-Team aged 7 or so. also, I always assumed it was Clubber Lang, so I've perhaps got that wrong tooPornDog wrote: Tue Jun 17, 2025 1:26 pmPoint of Information: It was Klubber Lang that was offering pity to fools, not B.A. Baracus

ICE (or allegedly ICE since this was another group of men without any formal means of identification) arrested the current New York comptroller and mayoral candidate yesterday at an immi for 'assaulting an officer' after he had the temerity to ask them for their warrant.
The current New York comptroller and NYC mayoral candidatewas at an immigration court yesterday, apparently assisting in these cases is a routine part of his duties, and was arrested for 'assaulting an officer' by ICE* agents for having the temerity to ask for their warrant as they attempted to cart off a migrant.
*or people claiming to be ICE agents, it was just another band of guys in a plain/pseudo military clothes with no formal identification.

It’s hard to get past the shouty extreme enthusiasm/near hysteria style of Stewart. I got about 20 seconds into that and couldn’t watch any more.
The material's ok and he's pretty good value on pods but agree.ScarfaceClaw wrote: Wed Jun 18, 2025 10:50 amIt’s hard to get past the shouty extreme enthusiasm/near hysteria style of Stewart. I got about 20 seconds into that and couldn’t watch any more.
The convulsed, incredulous face; crowbarred anticipatory pause and audience whoop whoop punchline ages very fast. I miss Jerry.
I'm with you. His rage is my rage too.
There are so many people in positions of power being cunts.
Amazing to see some MAGA hardcores on the side of the radical left ... calling for no wars.

... oh, but now I see the clips of those same people calling for the takeover over American cities to roust out the socialist liberal scourge.

Too much to hope for a full on rift in MAGA, there's been too many golden chances now that haven't planned out...Niegs wrote: Wed Jun 18, 2025 7:32 pmI'm with you. His rage is my rage too.

I like The Daily Show too, although I do think that piece, while good, is a bit misjudged at times. In the past Stewart has struck a balance of knowing when to play it completely straight for a whole segment, even allowing righteous indignation to flow for an apparopriate issue and I think this one, despite its absurdity, is serious enough that it warranted that treatment, not interruption with gags. Doing so undercuts the very real and dangerous attempt being made to usher in authoritarian rule.

There will be nothing in this I'm sure, but it is blackly funny that Kristi Noem visited a biohazard lab with RFK a day before being hospitalised for an allergic reaction.
Also, fuck the frozen-faced ICE queen. I hope whatever it is hurts.

Something we all probably missed because of, well, everything, is the recent testimony by the Fed Chair to the Senate Banking committee.
He said that because of climate change, in the form of increased storms and forest fires, there are entirely areas of the USA where you will not be able to get a mortgage in 10 to 15 years time.

Aren't there some places in Florida where homeowners can not get insurance because of rising sea levels?Biffer wrote: Wed Jun 18, 2025 9:56 pm Something we all probably missed because of, well, everything, is the recent testimony by the Fed Chair to the Senate Banking committee.

Yes. But I think it’s more hurricanes than sea levels.Kiwias wrote: Thu Jun 19, 2025 7:09 amAren't there some places in Florida where homeowners can not get insurance because of rising sea levels?Biffer wrote: Wed Jun 18, 2025 9:56 pm Something we all probably missed because of, well, everything, is the recent testimony by the Fed Chair to the Senate Banking committee.

This, ultimately, is the problem with climate change. Nature doesn't care about your anti-Net Zero grift, or your continual watering down of standards, or Facebook posts. It just gets on with reacting to us making the planet more uninhabitable for ourselves.Kiwias wrote: Thu Jun 19, 2025 7:09 amAren't there some places in Florida where homeowners can not get insurance because of rising sea levels?Biffer wrote: Wed Jun 18, 2025 9:56 pm Something we all probably missed because of, well, everything, is the recent testimony by the Fed Chair to the Senate Banking committee.

And the actuaries don't care,.either. They crunch the numbers and quietly inform financial institutions that it's going to cost them money, and they react accordingly.
But the rich will build bunkers so they're OK....
Fair point but I think it is climate change that is causing the increased frequency and intensity of hurricanes.Biffer wrote: Thu Jun 19, 2025 7:21 amYes. Intensity, so far as I understand it is likely. Frequency the science is not quite as definite and in fact there may be a decrease in number. There's likely to be an increased frequency further away from the equator though. Cyclone science and its interaction with climate change is really complex and still has a huge amount to understand.Kiwias wrote: Thu Jun 19, 2025 8:01 amFair point but I think it is climate change that is causing the increased frequency and intensity of hurricanes.
