Wigan go into administration. Terrible due diligence by the new owners, who took over only four weeks ago.

Get in Hammers
Nice to see you again Frank.

Be interesting to see who gets brought in this summer.
I'm not sure Sancho is the right signing as theres plenty of attacking options already. Think I'd rather see a defensive mid, left back or maybe a centre back.

I'faith, nuncle, we have won a mighty triumph against those who are liveried in blue and sustained by the petrochemical tears of orphans.
WINNING!

So has Turnbull who set up the second goal: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53270948
a bit of a head scratcher as they both played such important roles in getting us promoted, but I guess the situation is tough for clubs right now, having to pay the players but not collecting any gate receipts

Manchester United have some serious firepower.
Apols if this is already well-known, read about it yesterday and couldn’t believe it... although, at the same time, totally not surprised.Hal Jordan wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2020 1:31 pm Wigan go into administration. Terrible due diligence by the new owners, who took over only four weeks ago.
United's problem is they are a Fernandez injury away from being ordinary again. He knits it all together.
Need to buy a centre half and another attacking midfielder

Yeah they will definitely have to get another midfielder with a creative streak. Pogba and Fernandez looks fantastic together, but Pogba seem to be injury prone and Fernandez will not play every game in a season either .
But their current first choice XI looks very exciting, and they seem to now be able to unlock those defenses that sit back and load the box. Just about all the teams they have had in this run in were teams that they struggled to score against in the first half of the season and the last few seasons. I think Greenwood could turn into a nightmare for defenders, both his feet seem equally strong, makes it a lot more difficult for a defender.
They need a speedy central defender, next to Macguire, right now all their central defenders looks slow and can definitely be caught on the counter. Macguire is a bit like Vidic for me... the muscle, so they need a fast guy next to him that can keep up with the speedy forwards when they play a high line.
Then a creative midfielder, that will be willing to sit on the bench most the time if there is no injuries. and one more decent forward.
The difficult part is getting hold of decent players that will be willing to be backup for most of the time. The current 2nd XI is just not good enough across the park to hold their own if there are a bunch of injuries. They are most likely 3-4 players short of being serious contenders next season.. Possibly a couple of seasons off being real title challengers. Then again, the league has had some unpredictable outcomes in the last 8 years so who knows.
For me it is just nice to watch a MU team that actually goes out to play attacking football to win a match instead of going out to try not lose a game.
Ever since Ferguson the team lacked an identity:bok_viking wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 10:22 amYeah they will definitely have to get another midfielder with a creative streak. Moyes: The team moved the ball left, crossed the ball, if that didn't work they moved it right, crossed the ball again. Game had moved on
Van Gaal: It was like the old Ajax, but too slow and no cutting edge. He had a good record against Liverpool mind. They could keep the ball against most teams except City but had no real punch
Mourinho: This was the real deterioration. He destroys teams. Look at Spurs now. They were better under Poch. Under Jose, United sat back, didn't tackle and hit long balls to Lukaku who only scored against rubbish teams.
Ole: Tried to get United back to 1990s counter attacking ( Giggs/Kanchelskis era) due to the midfield being unable to keep the ball. Worked for a few games but confidence dropped. I was advocating Ole leaving but looks like this signing of Fernandez has put together the game he wants United to play along with the correct personalities ( Still not sure about Pogba. Think he could still disrupt) They are now able to keep the ball as the shape is right. Matic sits back, Fernandez plays in an attacking midfield role and Pogba plays between them.
You're right . We're 4 players short from being able to challenge Liverpool

Think on this, Manchester United fans; a few more judicious acquisitions and Phil Jones will seem but the fevered dreams of a slumbering farmhand.
