Presumably Scotland aren’t going to be releasing players back into the pro squads for the weekend’s games as they would have to isolate each time they transition between pro team / Scotland squad?

On that note, I’d be very careful integrating Maitland back in were I them. A representative squad from all over the place spending the week getting hammered together before the babas match, no doubt with no limitations placed on the players by management as that is the culture. A disaster waiting to happen that is.

Congrats to Duhan van der Merwe making his debut for Scotland. I knew since his school days at Kwaggas he will be a Springbok. He and Gelant made the Kwaggas the best in SA in schoolboy rugby. Duhan is the younger Boet of Akker who plays for the UK Sharks.

I hope my prediction doesn't turn out to be incorrect but thanks for him :)

Worldly player at the 'burgh, really hope he has what it takes at int'l level, I'm going to put my neck out on the line and say he'll be a great international. And it's McMerwe now; Following in the great footsteps of William MacNeil at prop!
And on the 7th day, the Lord said "Let there be Finn Russell".

Hell of a scrumager and at precisely the time we needed a player of his skillset.

It's interesting how well South Africans seem to settle in Scotland. It can't be for the weather obviously, but even away from rugby South Africans seem to settle very quickly and are happy to set up home.

One Glasgow player positive and two others self-isolating.

We really should expect to thrash Georgia and we should seek to put down a serious marker we can all point to when the inevitable relegation from the 6N chat makes its annual resurgence.
Won't work. We're barely filling the squad because of covid. You'll have to make arguments based on beating Georgia B. And most of them haven't played a proper game since March. I'm shocked that we're going to the november tournament at all.

I presume your 'we' is Georgia? I think you are seriously overestimating the knowledge of the kind of fan who raises the point. If most of them can name a single rugby player beyond Jonny Wilkinson I'd be generally surprised. They would't know a Georgia B team from Adam.

A Glasgow Warriors player has tested positive for coronavirus and two others are also self-isolating.

The club cancelled training on Tuesday as a precaution, but insist Saturday's Pro14 match against Ospreys in Swansea will go ahead.

Following the unnamed player's positive result, two further squad members were quarantined after being identified as close contacts by NHS tracing.

Glasgow say they have adhered to an "extensive" Covid-19 mitigation plan.

So Maitland out of Barabarians game due to leaving the bubble. Would think Scotland would be very cautious about bringing him in quickly so may not be available for next week.

Means Maitland can start self isolating sooner and be re-integrated earlier.

Just trying to look on the bright side.

Is this not the second time Maitland has broken lockdown rules? Seem to recall a bunch of Saracens players doing something stupid earlier in the summer. I really like him as a player, but worried about his judgement off the pitch, and you have to think Townsend would be under some pressure to drop him pour encourager les autres.

Was just tweeting about this. Maitland wasn’t representing Scotland or the SRU, so Toony won’t feel obliged to take public action in the same way, but I expect he will be pretty pissed off all the same. Doubt we’ll see Maitland start any games this autumn.

Aye, they've done some silly things but just the small little things have gone against them very frequently as well.

Some excellentlent work from the Georgian props that deserved a few more calls

To be fair i think the whole inside 3 have been poor. Who thinks Lang is international quality except Townsend.
