Life of Brian is legitimate satire though. What's more, it isn't a critique of Christ or necessarily Christianity itself, but rather of Christian institutions and the misinterpretation and abuse of scripture/faith. It did inspire actual debate (quite famously of course).

The cartoon of Mohammad had one purpose and one purpose only - to stoke the flames in a clash of cultures.
