So first coverage away from sky and the rain delay footage is people giving Cairns a standing ovation in last ever game with lou Vincent as wicket keeper in the bowl off. Brave move Cotton

Sure Baz in commentary loved it...

Bennett and Neesham end up going 0/82 combined in 4 overs. Talk about letting the team down.

180 is a steep ask in 16 overs with no Munro, KW or CDG.

Congratulations to the half cut punter in the crowd by the name of "H Bennett" who won the raffle to join the Black Cups XI and have a bowl.

What has happened to Phillips there? He’s done a violent Richardson and nearly collapsed onto his stumps.

Edit: turns out his kneecap popped out and back in.

It may still be November but a Ross Taylor run out heralds the start of summer for me.

Top notch cricketing.

Ferguson must get MOTM.

Sitting here in the UK seeing the crowd having a brilliant time at a large gathering sport event is hard to watch.

Game 2 on today -looking at 2.15 start with slight weather delay.

Both bowling lineups will be looking to improve, lot of extras in the last game. Should be another good game, looking forward to seeing Pollard again

Phillips gets a 50 making international batting look easy.

Not a fan of batsman being able to switch stance like he did to the spinner but geez it must take some skill

Phillips benefits from a beamer - and he's now on 99 off 44

An amazing innings that dwarfed a fine contribution from Conway.

The remarkable thing about that innings is that he hardly played "slog" at all - just decent cricket shots.

And Jamieson gets King with his first ball. 10-1 in the 2nd over

Phillips can do no wrong - he has affected a very slick runout, and has just taken a diving catch on the boundary. Give that man the key to the Basin

Comment from Cricinfo
They are trying to bounce Paul out
In an over from Southee.

Black Caps bowl with more rain around. Kuggeleijn, Bennet, and Mitchell in for Taylor, Jamieson, and Southee.

Hell of a lot harder to support the team with Kuggeleijn in it. Would rather play with 10. Hoping he gets tonked and out for a golden, but the Black Caps still win.

Yep. He’s an individual that NZ cricket would be better off forgetting about entirely.

Watling in doubt for tomorrow's first test, with Blundell set to take the gloves and move down the order, and Will Young in line for a much deserved debut.

Excited to see how Young goes. 3 tons in his last 5 first class games, ave of 45 in appearances for NZA (coming off a ton against WI last week), and an ave of 56 in List A games for NZA. Glad he's finally getting his opportunity, after being in line for a debut in the cancelled Bangladesh test.

So nice to actually be in a position with a bit of depth where Conway can't get into the team, even with CDG and Ajaz Patel out too. Will be interesting to see the make up of the bowlers between Boult/Southee/Wagner/Jamieson/Ferguson/Henry. I'd be happy enough with:

1. Latham
2. Young
3. KW
4. Taylor
5. Nicholls
6. Blundell (wk)
7. Mitchell
8. Santner/Jamieson
9. Southee
10. Wagner
11. Boult

Just depends what the pitch looks like/whether spin is likely. Would like to make room for Ferguson, but you can't really break up the Southee/Boult/Wagner combo.

Nicholls under pressure to perform, no 50s in his last 12 innings and Conway breathing down his neck.

Nicholls is gash. Better to throw Conway straight in. He has huge potential, Southee needs to be dumped as well. He shits the bed all the time. Lockie is the man.

Don't conflate Southee's ODI form - which has been crap - with his Test form. Last 3 years in tests he has 29 wickets @ 19, 33 wickets @ 29, 14 wickets @ 13 (so far). Take it a bit further and under Kane as captain it's 118 wickets @ 24 in 25 tests. For comparison Boult has 115 wickets @ 26 in 27 tests under Kane. Southee isn't going anywhere, and nor should he.

The start will be delayed for sure. It is very misty drizzle but enough to keep the covers on and require a drying period for the outfield.

11.15 am It's getting brighter in Hamilton. The people going out into the ground are doing so without umbrellas. So we're seeing good signs for a resumption sometime soon.
