Had to watch it twice as I was falling asleep through it. Not the best endorsement for it but it was a great episode when I managed to stay awake.

The first feature length part of Steve McQueen's new Small Axe anthology series is outstanding. Can't wait for the rest.

I’m really struggling to find Mandalorian good.

And especially the episodes of this season, which are boringly repetitive. Not to mention how short they are, and even shorter once you remove the final credits of the episode. Take the little rubber yoda to a planet. Get ship fixed, help the locals with killing something, fuck off again. Rinse and repeat.

I know, I don’t have to watch it. But everyone else seems to love the next episodes, and wonder so I keep watching it. I even got Disney+ just to watch it.

Just watched American Horror Story. Season - Apocalypse.

Very bizarre story, but entertaining twists.
Spoiler

Nuclear war and apocalypse

Stephen King like story falsely trapped with murders (appropriately with Kathy Bates).
Becomes

All seasons different, which are the recommended ones if any?

Season 1 (Ghost House), Season 2 (Asylum) and the first 2/3s of Season 3 (Coven) are good.

First 2/3s of Season 9 (1984) are decent.

Everything else is middling to poor. I've usually lost interest and stopped watching by the halfway point. There are generally some good ideas floating around, but they're diluted across too great a running time.

Mileage may vary depending on how much and what kind of horror fan you are. I tend to be a creature feature, slasher and oppressive atmosphere enthusiast, none of which particularly feature in AHS.

I'm enjoying it still but your criticism is valid. They need to start moving the story on a bit.

Episode 2 of Small Axe is pretty much a typical 1980s Notting Hill house party featuring a killer soundtrack. The Kung Fu Fighting and Kunta Kinte Dub scenes are awesome. I found the stark contrast to the first episode a bit jarring at first, but ended up enjoying this one probably more.

The Queen's Gambit is excellent...

I see mixed reviews on Gangs of London on here. I watched it all, but felt like it was trying way too hard... Peaky Blinders does it with less cost and does it far better...

Keep meaning to watch peaky blinders. Stalled halfway through the first season. I’m assuming it’s worth persevering with.

I loved Peaky Blinders, but may not be to everyone's taste. For me it was classy, engrossing and humorous...

Peaky Blinders was outstanding, one of the best British shows imo. Cillian Murphy in the role of a lifetime, Arthur was a tremendous character acted perfectly by Paul Anderson... Fantastic guest turns by Tom Hardy, Sam Neill... can't wait for the next season.

You trolling me? It’s part good, part terrible. Episode 4 of Season 2 was a real low point. No surprise this b grade actor directed it...

Image

An utterly lame siege on an Imperial base. Why must they make Mando look like a rank amateur come combat time? Let alone the incredibly weak supporting cast of a non acting wrestler and a bloke that had his arm blown off early in Predator and had previously directed an episode of Renegade starring Lorenzo Lamas. Only good bit was the speeder bikes descending the mountainside.

Littlest Hobo Mando, helping strangers on his quest to deliver “the child”.

So I'm currently watching the original series of Utopia, not the remake. Only about 4 episodes in and talk about predicting the future (albeit in a conspiracy theory way...).

Yeah, the british one. I read a review on the new one that said the original was better. Now I've seen the original is on Prime, so I've started it. How many series are there? There's 2 on prime at the moment.

Yes, I have. It's a very good series with excellent actors and strong characters.

As period crime dramas go I enjoyed it more than I do Peaky Blinders.

Yeah, the writing is leagues ahead of PB, although it does push the slow burn thing a bit and I never felt Buscemi quite fitted the lead role. Enjoyed S3 the best with Gyp Rosetti as the chief antagonist (that actor would have made a great ‘Nucky’ Thompson IMO)

So a bit to watch

- new season of expanse. Like the series despite a few annoying characters.

- new season of vikings. Not too excited but will watch it as get the feeling it will be wrapped up soon.

But drum roll ...

- new season of cobra Kai. Pretty much finished it already. Love the show, brilliant main character in Johnny and a huge huge dash of 80’s cheese to boot.

Enjoying the expanse. Vikings has been good so far too, not quite finished it yet though. Just started Hannibal (first season done), and really enjoying it.

Any Das Boot watchers? I did the first series a few months ago and am nearly halfway through the second. A bit slow going - though short series creators all seem to want to stretch to 10 when they could do the story in 6-8. The second series' main plot is a bit more fantastical than the first, but I'm still enjoying it.

I'm not sure who I'd like to punch in the face more: Forster, Wrangel, Greenwood or this new French twat, Anatole. But that means the actors are doing a good job at being baddies/dubious!

I was a bit surprised by the amount of cars/people/detail in the NYC scenes, and read something that suggests they were filmed in Manchester! Not bad!

Probably the most annoying is the croaky voice lady politician.

Chrisjen avasarala.

But yes, other than that it’s most of the belters including Naomi. Excluding the tidy bird with dark eye make up.

I don’t know what I am most looking forward to: seeing if The Watch is as bad as everyone claims it will be, or watching the Pratchett fans froth themselves to death over it.

The trailers don’t look completely terrible...

Finished Vikings. I loved this line:

Finished Das Boot, series 2. Not a bad job of "kinda" tying things off but also leaving it open for a 3rd series. There's enough hanging that they definitely WANT to do more, but my mind has also filled in the blanks if the money people said no.

Series 2 also ended up being much better than I thought 3 eps in. (Warning: lots of dong on show midway through! )

Has anyone watched Brittania or Strange Empire? Worth a look? CBC has them free for streaming and the intros caught my eye.

Still watching through Hannibal, guess I'm halfway through season 2 now. Loving it so far. As someone who really enjoyed the books (well, not Hannibal, but that read like a movie script), I'm loving the cameo's, the similar storylines (albeit sometimes spread over a few characters) etc. Very much enjoying Hannibal himself.
