Edinburgh need a 10,12 & 13 so plenty opportunity for him at all 3 spots.

Might be a bit of pragmatism there. Love him or hate him, Pete Horne is a Glasgow legend and a big part of that was his ability to play to a good, sometimes great, standard in multiple midfield positions. If that is what Edinburgh are buying it is a worthwhile investment IMO.I like neeps wrote: ↑Thu Dec 31, 2020 6:43 pmEdinburgh need a 10,12 & 13 so plenty opportunity for him at all 3 spots.
Had the same concerns but actually very good, less Billy thinking too much, more of his best stuff

Just saw this. No Fraser Brown, George Horne or Alex Allan for the 6N.
Allan wasn’t likely to make the squad, but I was hoping for Hornito to get some more game time. Brown is a blow - have to hope Rambo stays fit.

It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom - for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.
I hope Turner gets a chance during the 6Ns - I really rate him. He brings a bit of aggression and hard edge to the game and is worth a start or two. I rate him higher than Rambo.Yr Alban wrote: ↑Fri Jan 01, 2021 12:58 pm https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/55503771

Once again the 1872 is of very low quality.
Brandon Thompson just missed another penalty directly in front of the posts. It’s just not good enough for professional rugby.

There's a pleasing physicality but this is poor quality

Aye, it's poor rugby. One really good break by Huw Jones and I like how Richie Gray is messing up Pyrgos. But slim pickings overall.I like neeps wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 3:47 pmSlick wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 3:38 pmThere is a lot of very stupid rugby but finding it quite entertainingKingBlairhorn wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 3:34 pm Once again the 1872 is of very low quality.

The game management has been atrocious too. Really brainless decision making.clydecloggie wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 3:50 pmAye, it's poor rugby. One really good break by Huw Jones and I like how Richie Gray is messing up Pyrgos. But slim pickings overall.I like neeps wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 3:47 pm

If he can play 15 can he play wing? Jones, Hogg, VdM... I'm okay with that.
I don’t see why not, harsh in Darcy though who has been decent today. I just love Jones, want him on the pitch, anywhere, for my teamI like neeps wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 3:57 pmIf he can play 15 can he play wing? Jones, Hogg, VdM... I'm okay with that.

If these are the best 4 half backs we have available for the 6N we are in big trouble. Price living off past glories for sure

I cant believe Weir was dropped completely for VDW to be capped.

Brandon Thomson is inexplicably bad for a professional.

I wouldn’t usually give an opinion like this, but he absolutely needs to be chucked. He just isn’t good enough, not even nearly. The fact Glasgow have been significantly better since Ross Thompson, a player with zero pro minutes of rugby to his name, came on tells the whole story.I like neeps wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 4:36 pm Brandon Thomson is inexplicably bad for a professional.

Indeed. Willemse as well, we need to stop signing low end South Africans and give time to Scottish players.KingBlairhorn wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 4:46 pmI wouldn’t usually give an opinion like this, but he absolutely needs to be chucked. Pretty much what I was coming back to say. It’s quite depressing how bare the cupboard is across the board but without the 3rd pro team we need to find a way of getting these guys more games. Ross made a difference when he came on but, like other young players, is in a queue behind a bunch of non SQ journeymen. I suppose we have to see if the Super 6 helps with all this.I like neeps wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 4:48 pmIndeed. Just a point on Edinburgh and Cockers. He has made a huge difference since he came but seems to be flatlining. There was almost 30 minutes in the first half of Edinburgh taking scrums at penalties and endless pick and drives, but you have the Scotland back 3 twiddling their thumbs outside. Duhan touched the ball twice in the second half.
Finally, too many players who walk into the international 23 need a rocket up their arse.

There should be a rule that only 3 NSQs can be picked and academy players need to play a certain number of hours per year or something.
Cockers' position is becoming troubling. To have VdM, Graham, and Kinghorn and to do nothing with them? Drastically poor.

WR were correct to change the rules but he'd be foolish to turn down a big money move.
Edit - also reading this was he sold?
however his performances have attracted a lot of attention this season and we’ve had to cut our cloth accordingly to stay competitive across the squad, with good news on that front coming soon.
Edinburgh only offered him contracts to that end. Hardly his fault.
He was either out of contract or sold. Either way the SRU have allowed it to happen.

Wing isn't a position we can have big money tied up in right now.
He didn't even come to Edinburgh as a project player. He was a gamble on an unproven and possibly injured player with physical potential.
If anything it's turned out to be good business for the SRU. I imagine his first contract was relatively cheap and he made a pretty much immediate playing impact, and then he ended up qualified.
