Pakistan against South Africa.

South Africa have won the toss and are batting. Clearly Pakistan are not as good at sleight-of-hand as the Indians as I think we lost every toss in a five match series when we were there last.

I'll be interested to see how many times England end up batting last on a bunsen when they tour in a week or so.

Markram departs early.

It's astonishing that a batsman who oozes class as Markram does can be out so often and so cheaply.

Gotta be really good at sleight-of-hand if they manage to get the umpire (who does the toss) to do it for them, I suppose...

Little tonk from Rabada at the end gets us to 210. Bit low, but let's see if Pakistan can prevent running themselves out in their innings too.

Edit: hang on, it's a six. Only 9 down

I'm not being serious.

It's just that the amount of times the Indians win the toss at home seems improbable. That said, if these things do average out, India are due to have a long sequence losing the toss starting with the England games.

They tend to prepare the pitches to take exaggerated turn after the first session which makes the fourth innings a treacherous endeavour, so it's important to bat first.

In the last decade they've played 43 Tests at home, and won the toss in 22 of them. Almost a perfect 50%.

I’ll have my calculator out. Really looking forward to the series, especially after an enjoyable and encouraging Sri Lanka series. It"s soooooo good to have live sport to watch.

Well, I think you'll find that I suggested that, if we were to have the sort of redress that the laws of probability dictate, then there will be a streak of toss-losing, probably starting with the England games.

We'll find out soon enough.

I found you suggested that "the amount of times the Indians win the toss at home seems improbable", when in fact the last decade suggests absolutely nothing of the sort. You could just admit you made it up!
