Hurricanes v Highlanders : MATCH THREAD : Sun 12th Jul
I'm not sure the Canes have scored enough with the win. Too many instances of poor impatience and general poor execution on attack, not least being on the last foray when Kerife should have either let it go and backed up or kept hold of the pill.
TJ is slightly ahead of Smith in the cheeky arse stakes, but otherwise even in general halfback play.
Blackwell, *spit* is having one of his better games. Good to see young Flanders putting his shoulder to the wheel.

What a frustrating watch as a Highlanders supporter at the ground. Started well, but then the try gets disallowed only for the referee to be desperate to give a try to the Canes despite more obvious obstruction than the Highlanders non-try. Luckily the TMO saw sense on that one.
After that, we were barely in it, only staying in touch by the Canes not being able to finish their chances. And the three lost lineouts in a row after penalties was the ultimate reminder we are nowhere near a good all-round team.
Now, for the fucking music. My God - it's been irritating enough in recent years at various venues, but the fuckwit behind the fader insisted on playing music (which he seems to have compiled from the worst tracks on all the Now That's What I Call Music compilations) well into the resumption of play. You can blame that on one person, yes, but then we had "flex cam" continuing on into the last 5-10 minutes and while play was going on. Then, as the Highlanders have a scrum in front of the Canes post, the complete idiots in charge at Canes HQ started up the "Mexicano" Wave. Wait, what? We're encouraging Mexican waves now? And at a vital point in the game?
Lots of people are losing their jobs due to Covid, but the Canes marketing department should be on the block for completely ruining an afternoon at the rugby.

String the the useless baggage up, but not so high that we cant' kick the foetid carcass.Ghost-Of-Nepia wrote: ↑Sun Jul 12, 2020 6:16 am What a frustrating watch as a Highlanders supporter at the ground. Not the primary reason, but a tipping point as to why I did not renew my 2 season tickets this year. The Canes/Sky Stadium hierarchy are completely tone deaf fuckwits.
Was just at my local, trying to drum up an uber down the hill. But no one could be arsed.
I was half glad tbh. I feel like I should support the canes however (backing up volties post) they just put on such a shit package.
Overpriced shit beer, overpriced shit food, crappy music etc...
We should organise a cabal though. Been a while.

I can cop a few songs during genuine stoppages (injury/scrum resets/post-conversion etc) but it almost felt like the DJ was put out by there being a game of rugby going on during his set.Ted. wrote: ↑Sun Jul 12, 2020 6:24 amString the the useless baggage up, but not so high that we cant' kick the foetid carcass.Ghost-Of-Nepia wrote: ↑Sun Jul 12, 2020 6:16 am What a frustrating watch as a Highlanders supporter at the ground. Now that is a plan I can ascribe to.-RB. wrote: ↑Sun Jul 12, 2020 6:27 amWas just at my local, trying to drum up an uber down the hill. But no one could be arsed.

GOTN, I hear you, loud and clear. Why don't you throw you hat in the ring? Not as the DJ, but as the PR man and event planner. Surely it would only be a part time, after hours, job. A bit of a lark! You're first task, sack the fucking DJ and the useless prick who comers up with the inane entertainment package..... nay throw them, naked and smeared in shit, to the baying crowd (all six of them).

Ted,
I'm sure you will appreciate my perspective when I say I have absolutely no interest in helping Wellington or Hurricanes rugby in any way, shape or form.
