When it happened I thought pad then bat but replay showed the inside edge. Mind you, given the third umpire efforts in this series I wouldn’t have been surprised if that was reviewed for stumped and still given out.

Not convinced replay conclusive showed anything but created enough doubt to give BOTD. Both sides will take what luck they can get on this.

Stokes gone there. That’s missing leg at first glance on the replay?

Would like to see another replay rather than a drinks break.

Pope won't last 12 balls playing like that.

Umpire's call. Marginal, but the umpire gave it out, so there you are.

Pope is a dead man walking. Can't help but feel we may as well have sent up Joff or someone to have a swipe and soften the ball.

That was just clipping leg. Umpires call. Another mm and it’d have been a not out call I think.

Well, that looked unplayable. Root gone LBW. Explodes the dirt and turns the other way if anything.

Pfft. Even 60 would be something to bowl at.

FM. I know the wicket is doing a ton but playing from the crease is a retard strategy.

Spin on the ball should have gone left or straightened. That’s kicked right off the pitch.

Given how often the ball's beaten the bat, leaving the crease sounds like a guaranteed stumping. I don't think there is a 'right way' here, particularly against Axar who bowls at pace.

Get to the damned pitch of the ball. Hey: if it beats the bat, it's doing so much, a chance Pant will miss it too. This strategy is simply waiting to die.

Play for the straight one and assume it will turn past the bat.

Again, it's a lot harder to get to the pitch of the ball when the bowler is bowling them at pace.

I do think there's some merit to e.g. Pope doing that - he's just been bowled - as he's light on his feet and could potentially get there quickly enough, but it's still a high risk approach. They are all high risks approaches, it's a ridiculous wicket.

Pope forward back and playing down the wrong line by a mile. Off stick gets a how’s-your-father from the ball.

Not a lot to be done about that. Finished in two days, maybe even the BCCI will be a little embarrassed about that. May as well go down swinging now.

People will go "oh it didn't turn" but that's the point. They've often turned and bounced a mile. He stretched forward to sweep one earlier and it practically bounced over his head. The sheer inconsistency of it is destorying batsmen.

There is no wrong line. They're all wrong lines. Ashwin bowls that one again and maybe slip catches it at head height.

I can't recall a wicket taking this much turn so early since back when they were uncovered. Struggling to think of a Test one at all. Bradman and reversing batting orders...!

Even if that went on with the arm he’d likely have missed it.

The BCCI are incapable of being embarrassed. This will simply be a reflection of how great Indian cricket is.

Erm, that’s out. A feeble sweep to go with his feeble waft at the ball in his first innings.
