Yes the tackled player is supposed to immediately make the ball available. Refs give some leeway but when a player is tackled and rolls like that they ping them.

Not specifically, but he fell with the ball trapped on the Italian side and was unable to immediately present it, so he made a very obvious second movement which highlighted he hadn't released.

Decent game all in all.
Fair enough. Given that players are freely allowed to move forward on hands and knees after being tackled though, seems a bit pernickety.

We don’t need to win from your POV. We just need to not lose by 21 points, or deny France a try BP

I still want Scotland to win, unless they're playing Wales I always want Scotland to win.

So having seen all the other games completed are there any different views now on the tournament? I think my view is softening a little from post-Ireland and, regardless of the France result it is probably an ok tournament on the whole. We gave England a bit of a shoeing, spanked Italy, pushed a Wales team who were a bawhair from a grand slam to the final play despite a red card and could have beaten an Ireland team that themselves comfortably despatched England and should have done likewise with Wales.
I think Ireland was the only game we really played badly, and we stayed in it. Against Wales we had 20 bad minutes, unfortunately that was enough to lose the game. We actually played around 110 minutes of consistently good rugby across the England and then Wales games which is more than our usual 40...progress?

Just perusing this thread and this caught my eye. We’re just in the process of selling up in Somerset and have just had an offer accepted for a house in Colwyn Bay. Good to know there is fellow Scotland rugby fans up that way now I’m leaving the Somerset counterparts behindYr Alban wrote: ↑Sat Mar 13, 2021 11:21 am I’ve just found out that the U20s beat Wales 52-17 in Colwyn Bay a year ago. I’m 15 mins West of Colwyn Bay - my boys actually go to school there. What brings you up here?

Cracking, I’m always up for a beer or two
Move came about when my Brother in law suggested a career change for me and offered me a job in his timber business. Bit of a homecoming for the Mrs as she grew up in Llandudno.
Lovely part of the country, have spent a lot of time up there with the in laws all being up that way.

My word, that is just pure filth. Reminds me of Hogg beating half the Ireland team in Dublin.
It’s on the GW Twitter feed for anyone who is curious.

Looks like Glasgow are about as good at holding onto a lead against a Welsh team as Scotland .

So frustrating. Glasgow were just brainless in the last 20, and particularly in the last 10. They wasted at least 5 minutes of their own time when chasing the game.

I can live with a non-distributing 13. Especially if he's more slippery than an eel in olive oil. There is no other Scotland player that can ghost through defences like he has done time and again, including both last week and yesterday.Blackmac wrote: ↑Sun Mar 21, 2021 9:03 amUntil he tries to make any pass over 6 feet.clydecloggie wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 7:14 pm God but I have missed Huw Jones in full flow.

Worrying for Glasgow how poor they are.
Dobie, McLean and Thomson are good prospects but such a poor side. Wilson and Harley are obviously legends but I can do without seeing them beaten in contact every game.

Aye - it's been 110 minutes of the best rugby Scotland has played since the '90's, followed by 110 minutes of pish in which they still ran Ireland close, followed by a clinical demolition of Italy.KingBlairhorn wrote: ↑Sun Mar 21, 2021 2:16 pm So having seen all the other games completed are there any different views now on the tournament? Without the old-school second-half panic against Wales, we would be having our own Grand Slam decider against France on Friday, methinks. The Ireland game reeked of a hangover a wee bit.

If we beat France it's been a good tournament because we won 3 games of which 2 were away. If we lose to France it's been a bad tournament.KingBlairhorn wrote: ↑Sun Mar 21, 2021 2:16 pm So having seen all the other games completed are there any different views now on the tournament? Not sure 11-8 is a shoeing though. And the performances against Wales and Ireland are nothing to be proud of. To almost win when not playing well is not an achievement. Playing well is the achievement.
I think that's about right. Although if we beat France my overriding emotion would be frustration given how we closed the game in both losses.I like neeps wrote: ↑Sun Mar 21, 2021 5:16 pmIf we beat France it's been a good tournament because we won 3 games of which 2 were away. Agree. But I'm already frustrated! The performance against Wales from 30-50 was unforgivable. You lose the Championship minutes and you lose the game. And to surrender them with Powerpuff sh*te penalties. Won't get over that in a hurry.Big D wrote: ↑Sun Mar 21, 2021 5:21 pmI think that's about right. Oh, the England game was a shoeing, no question. We weren’t ruthless enough to make it show on the scoreboard, but I don’t believe I have ever seen a Scotland side dominate a game quite so utterly in the 6N era (save a few times v Italy). We dominated possession, territory and metres gained. England made far more tackles than we did, and our discipline was far superior. We hammered them, we just didn’t finish well enough.I like neeps wrote: ↑Sun Mar 21, 2021 5:16 pmIf we beat France it's been a good tournament because we won 3 games of which 2 were away. I agree it was as dominant as I've seen Scotland against anyone except Italy. However it was a close match... England just needed a penalty for a draw or one try and had chances.Yr Alban wrote: ↑Sun Mar 21, 2021 8:22 pmOh, the England game was a shoeing, no question. For me Scotland have been shoed many a time and the opposition scores waves of points and it's totally demoralising. That's my definition of a shoeing and this wasn't that.
Agreed although that would put us closer to a very important milestone: would have beaten every 6N home and away in last 5 years (Ireland in Dublin the only absence) which surely must mean something in the context of player confidence.Big D wrote: ↑Sun Mar 21, 2021 5:21 pmI think that's about right. On another note, I'd like to say how much I've enjoyed watching Sean maitland this year. Utterly consistent in defence and attack. I don't think he's ever really had the appreciation his performances deserve

So, Friday - I say fuck it, let's have a blast, Jones at 13, Graham, VdM and Hogg the back 3. Let's entertain. In the pack I think Cherry proved he should go again, and Craig might be worth a start. SH an issue. Price, even after all this time, is far too prone to mad shit decisions. WTF happened to Horne, I thought he'd have displaced Price completely by now, always looked the better player to me.
