Be interesting to find out what Genge said to set off Jon Welsh.

Welch was a semi-pro heavyweight boxer. He'd comfortably knock the Leicester gobshite out.

Ahh, that's a disappointment. I heard them mention in to Brett Deacon during the match chat but I thought they said John WELLS. That would have been more fun.

Also probably the guy who thought he saw a clear grounding on that try (I think he probably scored it, but there's absolutely no chance the AR saw it)
He's the one who looks like Gollum
I look forward to him falling into a fucking volcano, in that case
Sinckler admitted to Danny Care after the game that he was miles short of the line for the final try. The AR really did just make it up entirely. Not a good look considering his other howlers; I can forgive a bad error but he just invented it and cost Quins the win. I suspect he might be having a little holiday from his duties for a while.

Haven't listened to the most recent one yet, but presumably that's on the BBC rugby pod?

Not great really, especially if it gets out into the public arena.

In other news John inverdale will no longer be on our screens for rugby programming. However, before anyone celebrates too hard, that's because he's been made part of the RFU council.

Full range of emotions upon hearing this news: :wtf:

Sad news......
Club Statement: Saints legend Frank Packman passes away
Wednesday 31 March, 2021
The family of former Northampton Saints player Frank Packman have confirmed that he died suddenly at the age of 57 on Tuesday 30 March.

A prolific try-scorer, Frank became Saint #1519 on making his debut in 1983 and the winger would go on to cross the whitewash some 178 times in his 323 appearances in Black, Green and Gold – putting him fifth in Northampton's all-time try-scoring records.

Frank, who enjoyed an illustrious career as a player and coached the youth game, had a far-reaching reputation for playing and promoting the sport. He died while out cycling with two of his sons in Bedfordshire.

The rugby world and colleagues in Northamptonshire Police, where he served 15 years as a police officer, have been shocked by the news.

His wife Rachel – who only recently retired from police service herself – and his family, say they are devastated at his tragic death and are asking for privacy at this difficult time.

Frank was a dedicated and loving father to four sons and a daughter. After his police career, his energy and focus helped him become a very successful and highly-regarded businessman. He was director of an international healthcare logistics company, based in Northampton, where he also lived.

Details of funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.

That is very sad news, no age either. Fond memories of him flying down the wing, Harvey Thorneycroft on the other.

I caught the tail end of his career - my first visit to the Gardens was back in the early 90s. Club legend, as as you say, absolutely no age.

Teams for LI v Cardiff in the Challenge Cup later (17.30 KO). Pretty stacked Cardiff team, so LI will do well to get close.

Well, fuck.

And in other depressing Wasps news, here's our team to get beaten by Clermont.

On paper it's a very strong team and Clermont are prone to letting teams back into a contest they should be dominating, but I can't see anything other than a beating incoming.

It's Champions Cup knockout game FFS. You can't rotate for that.

Just pick a prem game in the next few weeks to go second string and give a few players a rest

Saying all that, you're bound to win the game now. I'm off to stick a few quid on it.

No Barbeary :eh:

Judging by the way we've playing recently, it'd need a huge turnaround in form, to pull of a win tomorrow. And a loss, effectively, ends any hopes of achieving anything this season. Very disappointing after our form at the end of last season.

Irish have scored magnificent tries that the officials have scoured for reasons to chalk off. Superb win against the odds.

Very enjoyable finish. Irish are pretty damn decent at running the ball. If this was post pandemic I could have got a 10 minute bus ride to watch it at the stadium.

Never in doubt.

Our attack is really clicking. Still vulnerable against teams that keep it tighter, but this game definitely suited us.

Brainless to go for that drop goal too. Gave Irish enough time to score, and the penalty was an easy one and would've eaten up almost all the remaining time.

Tbf that can also be described as the difference between a fairly fresh 21 year old and a 33 year old with more than a decade of conditioning under their belt.

Haskell was also one of the biggest back rows out there at the end, the most extreme example. Hardly a fair comparison for everyone across the board.

Mike Brown officially leaving Quins at the end of the season. Probably for the best, but no less sad for that.

The rumour is there's a coaching gig being added onto it.

Sorry to see him go; before we binned off Gustard I would've been fine with Brown leaving because he frankly has been disappointing for much of the last couple of seasons - so many mistakes and nowhere near his usual level of threat. He's completely turned it around though, he still has something to offer at this level. Will be interesting to see where the money goes.

Not sure if the Nick David signing has been confirmed, but I'm sure there's still room in the cap after that anyway.

Will be a shame if he, like Robshaw, ends his Quins career with no fans allowed at the ground.

Could the upturn have started once he had that new offer? Coming to the end you can get worried about what's next, if he's secured something, it may have helped release a bit of stress etc.

It's possible, but the rumour about him going to Newcastle happened before his form improved (and before we binned Gustard) so the timing is tricky.

Tis comical how many players get tapped up before they're supposed to, mind
