You have a good cut of steak on the braai and then you squeeze lemon juice on it? Supposedly to keep
it tender? Perhaps you need to stop when it gets to medium and take it off....

Ah who cares! It’s your braai. Do what you want to. Even you Sauce.

I am not fond of sweet food.......unless a decent Sweet and sour sauce or sweet chilli sauce that tastes proper.

I was so dissapointed in the Asian food we had tried over the weekend....
Supposedly a good Eatery and the Pork was dry and the sweet chilli sauce looked more tomato sauce than Sweet Chilli....

Tried another eatery later in the weekend , got proper food but the sweetchilli sauce was the same....

I don't know whether they are using the same supplier but I cannot imagine anything worse....I almost never eat Tomato sauce unless on a hot dog.
Where did you eat?

Make your own sweet chilli.
Blitz 🌶 chilles in a blender.
Make a simple syrup with sugar and water on the stove.
Add chillies, a bit of coriander and a splash of lemon juice.

It was 2 local Asian eateries.......I suspect they have the same supplier...it was horrible.....

Did a sausage braai on Saturday for a change. Just a variety of sausages and served with mustard mash. Ace.

But why? I mean it's your wors and you can have it suur poes style if you want too but wors if cooked right has it's own sauce, perhaps some relish if its going on a bun but it's good as is if not.

A fine example of the wealthy trampling on the poor. Telling us how lucky we are that we have what we have because, well it could have been worse, we could have nothing. Funny thing, it's always a guy with money that tells us poor sods that money is not everything.

In other news, Oom has decided to stop making and distributing Heinz Tomato Sauce in South Africa.

No HP sauce. No Heinz Tomato sauce.

I suppose that Wellington makes a crappy sweet Tomato sauce

I roasted a pork belly last night.
Ate it with Colemans Hit English Mustard.

I remember it as being pretty hot. Last night I had to use tons of it to get a nice bite to cut through the fattiness of the pork.

It was so disappointing that the Mustard has been watered down.

What if none of these sauces Chilli is tasting are actually changing and they're all the same recipe they've always been. What if instead Chilli just has a brain tumour and the sauces are still totally fine.

It is a known fact that taste receptacles deteriorate with age. Perhaps offer some of your pork to someone younger and see how they react.

I only will put Hellmans mayonnaise and tomato sauce ( all gold ) on a hot dog with some chopped chilli. Or Hellmans on a chicken breast burger. Other than that I use chopped Chilli as a sauce for everything else. No tomato sauce for anything else. Kids love it...I don't. HEINZ is awful. Won't touch it. Mustard must have a tang or what's the point. Might put Mustard on a seeded loaf sandwich with sliced pork left overs. Don't like apple sauce at all. Sweetens the meat too much

Some of the local supermarkets here have started doing wors rolls at the entrance to the shops. Must a a Saffer in management. You can smell them from the carpark and you've got to queue to buy one for 100 bob (R14). A nice reminder of home.

Mayonnaise in the uk is generally terrible for me. Hellmans is this bland white shit with no flavour whatsoever. And people go on about it like it's fucking amazing... if you grew up on the tangy safa sort then its no good, so we get the SA brand one at a saffa shop along with all gold.

Also, indian food here isn't as great as brits want to believe, I've yet to have a biryani here that's close to some of those back home.

Jacket potatoes ffs. Its just a baked aartappel with weird shit on it like tuna or beans.

Something else that's interesting is the size of chickens in supermarkets, they're fucking huge in this country compared to SA.

I miss blue label Marie biscuits though. Tea biscuits are kinda similar but not quite the same.

Have uet to find a place that sells skaapkop :(

There's surely a local abattoir close by. Every town in SA has one and most of them sell oval from their "factory shop".
