Well lets see Fox crawl their way thru this river of shit, & be free.
Dominion Voting Systems Files $1.6 Billion Defamation Lawsuit Against Fox News

Dominion Voting Systems has filed a $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox News, saying the network spread false claims that the voting machine company was involved in voter fraud during the 2020 presidential election.

"Fox sold a false story of election fraud in order to serve its own commercial purposes, severely injuring Dominion in the process," according to the lawsuit filed Friday in Delaware. "If this case does not rise to the level of defamation by a broadcaster, then nothing does."

"Fox endorsed, repeated, and broadcast a series of verifiably false yet devastating lies about Dominion," the complaint says, including claims that the company's software manipulated the results of the 2020 vote.
Now lets look at how the other participants are responding to this case ....
Sidney Powell seeks dismissal of Dominion's $1.3B suit

Sidney Powell, the conservative legal firebrand who helped spearhead President Trump's court challenges to his 2020 defeat, is seeking to throw out a $1.3 billion defamation lawsuit against her from the election technology company Dominion Voting Systems.

In a motion submitted in federal district court in D.C. on Monday, Powell argued through her attorneys that the case should be dismissed because it was filed in the wrong jurisdiction and that the claims she made about Dominion were protected under the First Amendment.

Her attorneys argued that "reasonable people would not accept such statements as fact but view them only as claims that await testing by the courts through the adversary process."
Uh oh .....
Despite the fact that he never provided ANY evidence to back up that claim -- and the fact that courts across the country roundly rejected lawsuits on the matter as specious (at best) -- Trump quite clearly convinced lots and lots of Republicans of his false view.
How many? Try 76% of self-identified Republicans in a new national Quinnipiac University poll. That's the number of Republicans who said they believe there was "widespread fraud in the 2020 election."

Yes, you read that right. Three in every four Republicans in the poll agreed with the idea that there was "widespread" wrongdoing in last November's election.
It seems like either Fox, (and other irrelevant defendants), concludes that 76% of Republicans are certifiable loons; or they concede that they're fucked.

You see; it's very difficult to be the same Network that had, & has polls that measured the effect of the bullshit you were propagating; & simultaneously; try selling the lie to a bunch of Judges; that you are some powerless entity; caught up in the tide of history.

That's quite the mental leap.

I just don’t wish anyone dead. I think of all the personal relationships, the people who love them and who will mourn them. I want them out of sight and that’s all.

Matt Gaetz is certainly going the extra mile to show the GOP, that he is the natural successor to #45.

I'm pretty sure that being an convicted felon would exclude him from political office.
Matt Gaetz Is Said to Face Justice Dept. Inquiry Over Sex With an Underage Girl

An inquiry into the Florida congressman was opened in the final months of the Trump administration, people briefed on it said.

Representative Matt Gaetz, Republican of Florida and a close ally of former President Donald J. Trump, is being investigated by the Justice Department over whether he had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old and paid for her to travel with him, according to three people briefed on the matter.

Investigators are examining whether Mr. Gaetz violated federal sex trafficking laws, the people said. A variety of federal statutes make it illegal to induce someone under 18 to travel over state lines to engage in sex in exchange for money or something of value. The Justice Department regularly prosecutes such cases, and offenders often receive severe sentences.

It was not clear how Mr. Gaetz met the girl, believed to be 17 at the time of encounters about two years ago that investigators are scrutinizing, according to two of the people.
Edit: But I will give him that his timing is impeccable

It's almost disappointing not to have Trump around for us to laugh at.

If you type "Trump" into the twitter search function, there are scores of tweets declaring that "Trump is still My President" and "Trump is the greatest President".

One wonders if these are Bots or if Americans really are that thick.

Just checking in here - looks like Joe has played a blinder so far - vaccine, infrastructure, common sense gun reform, environment, taxing the ultra rich, corps and such.

Despite his background as a centrist tough-on-crime dem looks like he has evolved and is listening to those on the progressive left.

Hair raising stuff about the possibility of Democracy being killed off in the US:
You can win the presidency even while getting blown out in both the popular vote and the Electoral College, provided your party:
  • Controls the House and Senate.
  • Constitutes a congressional majority in 26 states.
  • Has sufficient raw political will.

According to Politico, the idea of packing the Supreme Court will be going nowhere soon. The report says that a number of Democrat senators won’t go along with it.

Term limits, I imagine, will be an easier sell; they've been discussed forever, & ultimately, they're the longer term solution to the politicization of the most important Court in the land.

I think the Dems are doing what the GQP did to them while Trump was in office; overwhelm the media apparatus with so many stories that they can't really focus on what is actually passing while all this outrage is being generated.

The Republican base is easy to mobilise against a single cause if Fox/OAN/NewsMax and the online publications have one target...be it Obamacare or Hillary/Bengazi. But if you throw something new at them every couple of days the base will also get outrage fatigue like the Dem base did under Trump.

So between DC statehood and Supreme Court expansion and The Green New Deal and and and...The administration can try to get some other less controversial bills passed. Without all these Dead on Arrival Bills being front and center in the Right Wing Media ecosystem, they would focus all their energy on stonewalling the reasonable ones (Covid relief, infrastructure etc.)

If that's the strategy (and I'm not convinced that it is), then it's doomed to failure.

I doubt Trump's Base is likely to be able to distinguish between a specific grievance and a general one.

The wheels of Justice grind slowly; but they grind very fine !

Cohen has spent hours with the SDNY DAs, & has passed over a bunch of documents.

Weisleberg (sp?), his, 'fixer', is under intense focus, & the SDNY has questioned his ex-DIL, & son; & made it abundantly clear, that if he doesn't cooperate; they've enough evidence to sling his son in prison for a few years.

The defamation case by the woman who accused him of rape; & who kept the dress with the DNA; has resumed progress; now he can't hide behind being POTUS; & the next logical step is a demand for his DNA.

The Tax records are with the Congress, & he lost that case too; so his record of losing every case is going the same direction of all his cases against the legitimate election.

There's also the minor matter of him interfering in the election in Georgia, & doing so on tape, & in the way that a five year old can tell what was happening !

All of these are State charges; so there's no pardon incoming; even if the GOP were in power !

[Edit] Oh, and then there must be fifty of these lawsuits; where the shitgibbon, welched on debts his campaign owed to cities around the country; for his fluffer events.

Can’t wait for all those to really kick off.

It just another bunch of shiny things for the right wing media ecosystem to focus on and distract the MAGA base while the Dems move forward with their agenda.

The majority of cases are against the org itself, & its officers; & his campaign; so all his kids & SiL are roped in, & Eric, & Ivanka have both been deposed in NY.

The Matt Gaetz story gets sleazier, & deeper every day; & unless he has evidence that will put the shitgibbon himself inside for a few years; he has to be looking at spending at least the next decade inside.

His "wingman", aka procurer; has had the number of charges he faces reduced by three quarters; which means he's been singing like a canary; & the only person he has to sing about is Gaetz.

The Daily beast finally nailed down witnesses to one of the, "parties"; & we now know, that in return for fucking the gruesome twosome; one of the young women involved, got a, "no-show", job in local Government offices, courtesy of the Florida tax payers. She also snorted coke off a bathroom counter with Matt; & big spender Matt, put the whole thing down as a campaign expense ......

And, in a shock move, the GOP torpedoes the enquiry into the insurrection.

If it were them with the majorities, the filibuster would be dead and the enquiry would be hauling people in for waterboarding by now. But it's the Democrats, who are just shit at displays of unity and strength.

I have this terrible.... no strike that; I have this wonderful feeling that Matty boy; & possibly his dear old Dad; might have added another decade or so worth of charges to the rap sheet.

Florida congressman Matt Gaetz, who has blamed extortionists for his slew of sex scandals, now says “malicious actors” stole more than $150,000 from him as he tried to buy a boat.

A spokesperson for Mr Gaetz told WFLA that a large amount of money “went missing” after the congressman and his fiancee, Ginger Luckey, attempted to buy a $155,000 yacht named Ol Pappy.

...
So he was facing a slew of charges; which depended on witnesses corroborating each others accounts (because just the testimony of a co-conspirator won't cut it), & after he became aware that he was in deep shit; he withdrew a shit load of money, & it; "disappeared" .....

Witness tampering in Federal cases has a 20 year sentencing guideline, & the accompanying Obstruction charge will probably get you another decade for free.

I hope he does every day of it; if only as an example to the other GOP shitstains.

No "Biden bounce" of improved perceptions of the US in Germany and France according to poll.

I wonder if the US will ever reclaim the sort of prestige it enjoyed on the world stage prior to 2016? I think the antics of Trump coupled with the revelation of the US spying on Germany some years earlier and the gun violence/BLM stuff have permanently damaged worldwide perceptions of the US.

https://www.reuters.com/world/us/no-bid ... 021-06-07/
The United States' reputation as the leading global power has suffered in France and Germany because of Washington's handling of the COVID-19 pandemic that has killed nearly 600,000 Americans, a poll showed on Monday.

On the eve of President Joe Biden's trip to Europe, the survey by the German Marshall Fund and the Bertelsmann Foundation said he had not won back the standing of the United States as it was before COVID-19 struck. China's reputation had risen slightly.

According to U.S. research papers released on March 26, the United States under Biden's predecessor Donald Trump could have avoided nearly 400,000 deaths with a more effective strategy.

"The first three months of the Biden administration have not affected French and German views of U.S. influence in the world," the study of views in 11 countries said.

"These numbers are in line with the results of the 2020 survey, which had fallen by about 10 points from the pre-pandemic numbers, to the advantage of China."

That compares with the perception within the United States that U.S. influence abroad has risen, the survey found.

Biden embarks on his first European tour as president on Wednesday to attend G7, NATO and European Union summits. He faces the challenge of repairing transatlantic ties damaged by Trump, whose withdrawal from international agreements and sharp criticism of NATO undermined European faith in Washington.

Only 51% of Germans see the United States as a reliable partner, rising to 60% in France, 67% in Britain and 76% in Poland. Fewer than a quarter of Turks trust the United States. Most Americans regard the European Union as a reliable partner, the study said.

A majority of respondents surveyed still think that the United States should be involved in the defence and security of Europe, except in Sweden, where views are divided, and Turkey.

Conducted online between March 29 and April 13, the survey sampled 1,000 adults in each of the 11 countries - Canada, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Perception of the US won't improve significantly, while there is a stinking turd in the corner, claiming that the largest Election the Country ever held; was rigged; & is supported by a depressing percentage of the population.

The rest of the world knows that they could revert back to the dumpster fire mode at any moment; & now we all know that the; "Checks & Balances"; don't exist !
