France with no Benmegal, Moustin, Fall or Bielle-Biarrey in the backs.

And that 3rd string backline waves Scotland through.

15 - 27 now in Treviso.
Italians have some serious units in the forwards, & they should just go ahead & start the U20s SH in the senior team

The comeback is on, Scotland in for a second try
Most of these guys will be available for us next year, and I think only one player, Rudi Brown, has made a professional appearance for his club, Edinburgh, when he was still at school

Remarkable advantage call there. Wales get a penalty just inside the England half, make two half breaks over a few excellent attacking phases, and put a dangerous grubber through that the England player contests on his own try line and the ref brings them back
Have you got the iplayer feed?
He does the Top14, spends most of his time laughing at the game, he's really fucking annoying.
Beattie Jnr is quite good
Against them on a tour when I was 18. Got invited to go back and play the season after for them and, in probably the biggest regret of my life, didn’t follow it up.

I played Mickey Mouse rugby in the Pyrenees for four years after leaving Edinburgh Accies - it was the most enjoyable time of my life in the sport, I really did play for the village, it got into my blood.

Why are there so many Welsh kids in Exeter? A lot of their academy go through the uni and when I was there remember West Country kids got some sort of discount/bursary for going to the uni, but I don't recall there being anything similar for Leekists.
I’m insanely jealous of that. Insanely.
I played for a local team on the outskirts of Paris for half a season which was great but always wished I’d gone to the South West - I had an invitation from a village team in that area as well that I didnt take up. Feeling a bit down thinking about it even now.
It’s my dream in the next 10 years to get a place down that way and try and get involved with the local team. Won’t be the same as playing obviously, but might go some way to ease my regrets

The game against Agen was men against boys - literally, as usual their U21’s turned up to play us U18’s. They absolutely pumped us but I scored a couple of tries and got the invite.
My rugby hero, Sella, gave us a coaching session before the game which remains one of my greatest rugby memories

There's nothing in that. Both players are bent 90 degrees. What is Fisilau supposed to do differently?

It's a very different culture, especially in the villages in the mountains. I feel privileged to have had that time - the apero was always epic, on away games we'd stop the bus home and get the BBQ out - sausages and 51 pastis - the whole plateau would turn out when we went on a good cup run - they got much bigger crowds than Accies did and they really meant it - the noise was great.

Yeah, I'm not sure what the coaching point would be there. They are both bent completely at the hipssockwithaticket wrote: ↑Fri Feb 24, 2023 8:53 pm There's nothing in that. Both players are bent 90 degrees. What is Fisilau supposed to do differently?

That is great - Sella is also one of my heroes - him and Charvet were a centre partnership from the gods

Funnily enough I’m heading down to Accies on Sunday for a bit of an old boys reunion and watch the game

Did you ever get a copy of that Brothers in Arms book? The insanely one eyed commenter actually shut up for a while after that, but has just cropped up again to blame England for the fight after the England try, somewhat ignoring the throttling of the try scorer by the tackler...sockwithaticket wrote: ↑Fri Feb 24, 2023 8:55 pmHappy to see that the ref agrees.Margin__Walker wrote: ↑Fri Feb 24, 2023 8:54 pmYeah, I'm not sure what the coaching point would be there. 27 - 44 FT in Treviso
If Italy sort out their discipline they showed more than enough to have won the game, & from what I've heard, that carries thru to their other games too.

Really down there with Shanklin for partisan Welsh commentary.JM2K6 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 24, 2023 9:01 pmThe insanely one eyed commenter actually shut up for a while after that, but has just cropped up again to blame England for the fight after the England try, somewhat ignoring the throttling of the try scorer by the tackler...sockwithaticket wrote: ↑Fri Feb 24, 2023 8:55 pmHappy to see that the ref agrees.Margin__Walker wrote: ↑Fri Feb 24, 2023 8:54 pm

That'll do nicely, few points left out there from the boot too.
Pretty cool that all our tries came from the backs.

Extraordinary player, Sella. Charvet has been at the foie gras in retirement. Not quite Bloato-esque though.Tichtheid wrote: ↑Fri Feb 24, 2023 8:57 pmSlick wrote: ↑Fri Feb 24, 2023 8:51 pmThe game against Agen was men against boys - literally, as usual their U21’s turned up to play us U18’s. I don't know what can be done, or if anything should be done, but this is not a meeting of equals - France have a team of young men who are involved with professional Top 14 teams, many of whom have played in that competition.
Scotland have a bunch of kids who play amateur rugby, some of them are semi pro, ie they are on about £3k per year, but not training full time.
Rudi Brown is the only one who has made an appearance in a professional game - once as a schoolboy for Edinburgh last year.

I am pleased that it means some of these lads are getting exposure at the highest level. Maybe the problem is Scotland's?Tichtheid wrote: ↑Fri Feb 24, 2023 9:18 pm I don't know what can be done, or if anything should be done, but this is not a meeting of equals - France have a team of young men who are involved with professional Top 14 teams, many of whom have played in that competition.

Problem or not a problem, I don't know, but let's not pretend it's a level playing field.

Drouet has had an absolute shocker tonight.
