Are conditions hard for ODI cricket or is this a touring side not adjusted vs a bowling unit that goes alright at the moment

And Boult finishes them off, well within the 50 overs. BCs need 132.

I don’t think that these are 131 all out conditions. Bangladesh have never been great tourists and perhaps isolation has played a part too.

Is anyone else’s Spark audio about 10 seconds behind the footage?

Clearly it was the latter. BCs are 119/1 after 18 overs, cruising to an easy victory.

Bangladesh are putting up more of a fight.

Having just watched a replay of Jamieson’s “catch” (admittedly on my phone) it looked out. It will be interesting to get a proper look.

It looked out on the tv, as he had taken it cleanly in both hands and was still gripping the ball firmly in his right hand when he landed on the ground. Here is one explanation of why the catch was not allowed.

Agreed - not out.

I remember having a huge spat with the opposing team when I ruled like that against their side (and in favour of mine).

I took delight in proving the case when they lodged a complaint with the controlling body (Taupo Cricket). They even admitted that the ball hit the ground which made it so easy when I read out that piece of the laws.

Jamieson had to land with the back of the hand on the ground.

EDIT: COnway run out with a beautiful direct hit.

Where’s Bill Lawry when you need an “it’s all happening”. That run out has sparked some loose play.

After a couple of simple dropped chances you are waiting for someone to hold a screamer.

There was nearly a screamer at gully off Latham a few overs earlier and Latham now gets his ton in his 100th ODI.

He scores the winning runs too. A very fine innings from 53/3.

Black Caps score 318/6 off their 50 overs, with Conway and Mitchell both getting tons.

Great to see a full house at the Basin.

Mitchell getting his off the last ball of the innings, running a second run when there was really only one. He really kicked into gear once Conway had gone.

The plucky Blackcaps have done it again - this time topping the ODI rankings on the back of a stellar one ODI series victory in the past 12 months.

Think that could be the highest NZ has ever been across all 3 formats.

Tests = 2nd
ODI = 1st
T20 = 3rd

Can’t help but feel we are punching well above our weight but at the same time I reckon the crappers have worked really hard and deserve to be up there. :clap:

Conway is set to debut. Like most, I approve of this decision.

Yep. Unfortunately, it also looks like Santner is going to play, which I don't approve of.

You don’t see a spin bowler bowling variations of straight as the way forward?

It's less that than the fact that Santner's just not tight enough for test cricket. He's fine in limited overs stuff, particularly 20-20, where batsmen have to force things and he has enough variation to keep them guessing. But in test cricket, they can just wait for the one long hop or wide ball per over. Vettori was never a particularly big spinner of the ball, but he had such immaculate command of line and length that test batsmen still found him a handful. Santer, unfortunately, has shown no evidence of being able to emulate that.

Hopefully he'll prove me wrong in this test.

The other ‘official’ thread probably makes more sense to accommodate English posters too.

All they are doing is going on and on about how many Welshmen have played cricket for England. I'm not even sure any of them are watching the actual play.
