Another career ruined by the Sharks.
I like the kid, but never seemed to make the step up and struggled with injuries.
Good luck to him at EP. Are they going to be included in the Franchise Cup? Seems ludicrious to let them in and not Griquas and the Pumas.

I see Jurie Roux in the news again. How is this guy still in charge after the Maties scandal? No wonder Stellenbosch built such a good rugby program, they had R37 million diverted to them by crooked Jurie. Money is the reason behind the Boland schools success too. Paul Roos, Paarl boys and Paarl Gim must spend a fortune on rugby.
We live for rugby in the Western Cape, that's why we are the biggest and best in Africa.FalseBayFC wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 10:45 am I see Jurie Roux in the news again. They probably don't spend a lot more than say Waterkloof or Garsfontein. Waterkloof "buys" students from the Cape regions. Even offering free board and lodge as part of the deal.
He just doesn't have it to play senior rugby.assfly wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 7:51 amhardly.Chilli wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 7:48 am https://www.news24.com/sport/rugby/pete ... ke83Qs6pGQ

They should include all the Unions in good financial standing.

Kak story. Paul Roos, Paarl Gim and Boishaai give the same sponsorships as Bishops, Wynberg, Rondebosch or Sacs or any other big SA rugby school.FalseBayFC wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 10:45 am I see Jurie Roux in the news again. They all give free boarding and school fees at most.
Its the provinces that gave the schoolboy contracts. Pollard got R200,000 pa while in grade 11 at Paarl Gym from the Bulls. Now with Corvid I suppose everything fell flat.

Grey College. They skip the provinces and get theirs from Mont Pellier, France. They sponsor them a French teacher.average joe wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 11:26 am They probably don't spend a lot more than say Waterkloof or Garsfontein. Biggest problem up here for schools is the quotas. There's not many POC's up here interested in rugby so the schools end up having to import from the Cape.OomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 11:50 amGrey College. My own opinion is that this will change in the new Corvid world. Provinces like the Sharks will buy senior players like Ox and the lot from EP Kings.

I have a feeling some of the schools go beyond scholarships and pay the parents under the counter. Maties rugby has been exposed as a professional rugby club funded illicitly by Jurie Roux and his brus. Wouldnt be surprised if some of the bigger rugby schools employed the same tactics.
Come on boet. You're talking here about the best university in South Africa. If you want to throw mud, you need to have the facts to prove it.FalseBayFC wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 1:11 pm I have a feeling some of the schools go beyond scholarships and pay the parents under the counter. There has been lots of rumours of Boishaai. Wynberg boycotted them a year or so ago because of poaching. Then the kid playing hockey iso rugby. Scouting is important for the Boland schools. They scout far and wide.FalseBayFC wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 1:11 pm I have a feeling some of the schools go beyond scholarships and pay the parents under the counter. Put yourself in the boots of the parent. They want the best for their kid. Cant blame them.

Not throwing mud Handyman. Jurie has been caught red handed. My daughter studies medicine at Maties. I pay tuition and it would seem that Jurie has been channelling funds without sign off. Corruption. Just like Zuma. Factshandyman wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 1:27 pmCome on boet. You're talking here about the best university in South Africa. So, Kolisi's contract with the WP comes to an end in after the Lions tour it seems.
His agent and benefactor owns the Sharks. Why would this benefactor not want his star rugby signing playing for his team?
Also, it looks like the Sharks are going to use some of their new found wealth to increase their poaching operations in the Eastern Cape.
Kolisi will be the lead figure for this. Already they have Am,
Fassi,
Ward,
Penxe,
Notshe,
Bholi,
Mona,
Fortuin,
Libbok,
Volmink,
Mtembu,
Mvovo,
Koster, [to name but a few] who all hail from the Eastern Cape / Overburg. Now expect even more to be poached.
In fact the smart thing to do would to relocate the whole franchise to Port Elizabeth.
I wouldn't be surprised if they hold the team talk in Xhosa these days.

Haha. What do you expect? How many of the Man U squad or Liverpool are UK born? How many of the Dallas Mav's are from Texas? This is pro sport, Doc Craven and die Broederbond no longer control rugby.Chilli wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 6:42 am So, Kolisi's contract with the WP comes to an end in after the Lions tour it seems.

Where do you want these players to go, Chilli? EP rugby is a joke. Sharks is the next best option.
I've heard the Sharks are going to set up an academy in EP with their new found wealth. Makes perfect sense to me, otherwise the "breeding ground of black rugby" will continue to be ignored.

When fit he is an EXCELLENT player.NEWS: French rugby publication Midi Olympique is reporting that Springbok Johan Goosen is on the verge of signing a contract to return home to play with Jake White’s Bulls.
Netwerk24 had previously reported that Goosen was weighing up between the Cheetahs and the Bulls, but it appears that the Bulls have solidified as the preferred option according to South African sources.
The Cheetahs being exiled from the Pro16 in favour of the Bulls may have been a factor in the decision, despite Goosen’s previous history with the Cheetahs.
Goosen’s move from Montpellier back to the Bulls would complete a merry-go-round trip for the former Springbok, having retired while at Racing 92 to return back to South Africa, only to unretire to sign with Montpellier.
The move sparked a contract dispute between the French clubs who settled over a contract buyout arrangement.
The 28-year-old flyhalf played 29 games for Montpellier across two and a half seasons with only one appearance this season. His time at the club coincided with the arrival of All Black Aaron Cruden, and as recently as last year, Springbok flyhalf Handre Pollard. All three flyhalves have had troubles staying healthy and on the pitch for prolonged periods of time.
The coup by the Bulls would be complemented by the signing of another Springbok halfback in Francois Hougaard, who is set to leave Worcester.

To me the poaching thing is a bit of a moot point. It reminds me of when I was courting my wife. Her mom was always preaching to us and chaperoning when I come over but was recently divorced and was hitting the dating scene big time herself, so one day at dinner I just blurted out that I don't get why she should always be on my case about sex when both me and her daughter were responsible adults and everyone was doing it except us. Suffice to say after dinner I took her daughter to her room and rode her like a wild thing whilst the old hag was sitting alone watching the bold and the beautiful down stairs. The Cheetahs is probably the hardest cry babies when it comes to the issue of poaching but for years they bled the Griquas and Griffins dry. You don't get to preach when "everyone's doing it" including you.
