Glasgow were in Durban the week before Ulster. A South African mate elsewhere tells me that seemingly both squads had been swimming in the sea.

I won't go into the detail he did, but seemingly it's an open toilet
Ah, it’s the sharks that are sick as well - that makes much more sense. I had seen it reported as Ulster and Glasgow cancel matches and assumed it was those teams driving it.

You’d think what you posted was complex. Ulster were also swimming in the sea in Durban. Jeez, it’s the end of a long week! Finally with you

Chris Dean has been absolutely sensational today so far. These delayed passes are absolutely perfect.

Yeah he's at 12 but playing as their primary playmaker it seems.

Enjoy the game today!

Poor second half from us, we went badly off the boil, a lot of that will be down to the game being won very early in the second perod and a lot of it will be down to the number of changes for this game, but you want these guys champing at the heels if the first team.

I’m still not convinced by DeBruin, for a huge man he doesn’t pull his considerable weight in the tight, Williams did better.
Harrison was good apart from one lost lineout
Currie looks the part
I’d like to see Goosen in the full team, but he’s up and running

Shiel was decent

Just picked off an intercept try - I'd say to cap off a decent win but I'm sure Bath can still feck it up from here.

As a semi regular Saints viewer they don't look close to as effective in attack without Hutchinson as they look with him.

For me Hutch's omission is just as unfathomable as Finn's, I'm a huge fan.

I'd love Dingwall to come over to us too.

Edinburgh manage to disappoint even with a BP win. 17-0 up and with a man advantage after 23 minutes, and somehow leak three tries in the second half and only win 38-19.

meh, the game was never in doubt, we did better than Leinster, Sharks and Stormers over there with a second string lineup.

5 points in the bag, onwards.

and the comms said that Zebre had rested players last week to target this game.

We should have done better, we took our foot off the gas and that has to change.

We are away to Cardiff next; we will have another depleted team and they are coming off the back of a very good win against the Stormers.

I want our reserve guys to be fucking tearing up trees to get into the first team, Dean, Sheil and Currie had good games today. Goosen took his try well, there is more to come from him, but the pack has to get right into it next week

Anyone heard anything on Kyle Rowe's fitness/when he's going to return?

What's our winger pool?

Graham, vdMerwe, Rowe, McLean, Steyn, Hoyland, then academy guys, plus Kinghorn I guess. Smith, but he's probably our second choice fullback now

It's not the deepest of pools, the guys who are there are good, but a few injuries and we are not so well off.

Not heard anything official from the club, but with an ACL rupture, I wouldn't expect to see him playing before the spring.

I watched the Racing 92 game last night. Finn made some errors, but also set up three tries. He was making kicks from all over the pitch, including inside his own half and ended up with 7/8 and18 points.

I have seen him play better, but he was good. Being dropped by GT has obviously had the desired effect and made him raise his game  .

Edit. He was also working hard defensively. Both making tackles and hitting rucks.

I don't hold the antipathy towards Chris Harris that some seem to, but at some point I'd like to see Price, Kinghorn, van der Merwe, Redpath, Bennett, Graham & Hogg given a run.

This isn't an anti Kinghorn post. Both Jim Hamilton and Barclay were saying at the weekend that with Fin not there Toony is looking to start Kinghorn in every game over this series. I hope that's not correct, I'd like to see Hastings starting at least 2 of them including either NZ or Argentina.

That would be a lot of fun for sure. I would be a bit worried about the defence though, Harris covers a lot of cracks and that line up would have a few.

I remember reading somewhere that the reason Hastings has missed out in recent squads is down to his defence. On Friday he did miss a couple of easy-looking (from here at my desk) tackles.

Whether it's Hastings or Kinghorn at 10, we're weaker defensively than with Russell.

Say what you like about Finn's attacking game, he really gets in about it defensively and always looks like he loves a tackle.

You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. I'm not pointing out any weaknesses any anyone's game here as I honestly don't have sufficient understanding in the defensive system to comment, but just making obvious tackles clearly isn't enough to say you are defensively sound. If the system used means you should be in a position to make a tackle and you miss it, that is presumably better than not being in position at all. Which of our tens is best defensively in the system we employ? No idea, but it could well be that Toonie is right and Hastings is weakest.

Can't say I've ever really noticed Hastings defence being an issue, but maybe it is. Kinghorn's positioning in defence has improved massively since last season - I think a lot down to his focus on keeping his concentration throughout matches, which again he has really improved. He still does get bumped a lot for such a lump though.

I agree but I suspect there'll be one of Redpath/Bennett and one of Tuipolotu/Harris. That backline with the exception of Duhan is maybe a wee bit lightweight when the focus is on Ireland and SA.
