Truss's mate and-author of 'Britannia Unchanied' Skidmore on Politics Live on BBC2 the day she gets PM job. No great surprise! Also 'dark money' funded IEA representative there as well.

So who do I vote for next time that'll put cannabis legalisation or at least decriminalisation on the agenda?

Or is that a pipe dream?

It's a complete and utter irrelevance given the state of our services, the economy and rampant wealth inequality.

Seriously, it could hardly be a less important political issue.

Trussnomics looks like tax cuts mostly for people who don't need them, which will increase the UK's deficit, but this doesn't matter because there'll be growth somehow to mitigate it whilst also pursuing a hard Brexit. This alone is madness, but there's more.

She's also going to spend £100bn (and some say it'll end up more like £200bn) to freeze energy prices, which will be set by government/Truss.

In the first part of these 12 years of the Tories being in power there was austerity to reduce the UK's deficit, it was their explicit policy to not increase UK national debt when interest rates were at a historic low and it was free money. Government services were closed, infrastructure not built etc. Now when debt is becoming more expensive again the "libertarian" wing of the Tory party is committing the UK to pushing its national debt well past 100% of GDP, really just to fund consumption, because they know they cannot get elected again without doing this. No hard truths from Truss about austerity being stupid, and it would've been better in the early 2010s to spend £100bn+ on power/water infrastructure than doing this now. Truss did say she wants the UK to be like Japan, seems like she just meant having a huge debt to GDP ratio, can't see much else Japan-esque.

Still polling at 30%+ are they?

The shite she trotted out about "This country was built by people with the strength and determination ... to get us through all the storms we face" made me feel we're going to get another (checks calendar) 27 months of tired old bollocks harking back to a fantasy version of WW2 now only maintained in the minds of boomers who watch The Dambusters every weekend.

Mind you she had just met the Queen, so who knows. Maybe Liz suggested she put that bit in.

If that can be maintained it's a landslide Tory defeat.

I'm in two minds. On the one hand Tory core support is very large (I've posted about this before, the short version is, for many English people supporting the Tories is core to their identity, this isn't as true with Labour for example under Corbyn they sunk to 20%-ish in polls), so they could add a few % and then have half a chance in a GE. On the other hand opposition is very entrenched against the Tories now, Sunak throwing money everywhere didn't really boost Tory support after mid-2020, Labour support started growing from mid-2021 and the Tories declined.

I don't think we should fat shame her.

We should shame her for being an utterly uncaring person who suppressed multiple reports (9?) into the effect of Tory benefits policy causing hardship up to and including death of claimants, and generally being a terrible human being.

I was struck by her saying she was going to; "get Britain working again.”.

It's just such a staggeringly moronic thing to say on so many levels.

Doesn't she know you have what Economists consider Full Employment, & that those same Economists, & Business leaders of every type are struggling to recruit people, & there are hundreds, & hundreds of thousands of Vacancies ?

Does she realize that any promises to fix the NHS, or invest in infrastructure are totally fucking meaningless, if there's no-one to fill positions in the NHS, or drive rock trucks, or lay bricks, etc, etc.

And if she gives a shit about leveling up, or helping people out of poverty; then the problem isn't that people aren't working; it's that the people who are working aren't getting a living wage, or there isn't enough people with the skills to fill the vacancies; & these people don't exist, because the Tories have done a shit job at delivering training, & education; & have let the economy rely on foreign labour, & then gone for the hardest possible Brexit, & fucked businesses.

Her name suggests she is of strong Irish Catholic stock, the anti abortion and anti same sex equality stances aren't surprising, if repugnant.

Catholicism doesn't have exclusive rights on the bigotry, of course

Hopefully they try it. The tide has turned in the US against Republicans in a number of states because of these policies and the Tories could mobilise the female vote for labour with going after abortion.

Looks like we have a very right wing, idealogically Gov driven by ERG and some pretty dodgy fundamentalists then. The most worrying thing to me is the appointment of economic advisors from Taxpayers Alliance and Institute of Economic Affairs. We know these guys are going to follow the Britannia Unchained philosophy and their disaster capitalist model as outlined by JRM's father. Both TA and IEA keep their funding sources close to their chests but it is widely expected that some very dark and dodgy money from extreme right wing US players is involved probably including the likes of Theil et al, who by the way was a great admirer of JRM Snr's books. With the likes of Truss as PM and her author buddy Kwarteng as Chancellor advised by IEA and TA advisors the coup is now complete. Expect tax cuts, decimated public services, destruction of the civil service leadership, selling off of NHS, trade war with EU, deregulation on a massive scale, inflation, interest rates raises which will cause of housing collapse, recession and then a depression and mass unemployment. They have put in place the zealots and the compliant idiots who will do as they are told and who will happily drive through the disaster. To these guys all these things are necessary for the 'green roots' of true capitalism to sprout and grow and for the Sovereign Individual to flourish, although there will be some 'collateral damage' ie most of us, along the way.

The Blonde Bumblecunt was the useless idiot who they used to gain power and get the foothold in Gov. Once it was clear he wasn't going to deliver much more than he had and probably was a bit reluctant to lead the country into the planned disaster (it would have harmed his legacy which was his key objective) then they got rid of him. He was expendable in the wider master plan. However I suspect his reference to Cincinnatus was more about having to come back and rescue the Tory party from these zealots, his reference to the change in the rules was again a reference to him being shafted by his right wing colleagues who broke their promises and ditched him to get the more pliable and driven Truss in power. Even he recognises they will go too far and cause irreparable damage to the UK and he will get dragged into the resulting turmoil.

We have a very very dangerous couple of years to navigate, this winter will be a struggle, and once again we are depending upon the saner and more responsible Tories, are their any left, in parliament to control this bunch of economic and social terrorists. I don't hold out much hope for them rising to the challenge. The nutters are following the plan as described in the Sovereign Individual and Britannia Unchained, don't say you weren't warned. Buckle up!

Yup. Pointed out on FB that she's the ideal candidate for Health Sec
a) She's totally unhealthy.
b) She's a hardcore Catholic who does not believe in abortion and voted against abortion rights in NI. She thinks anyone seeing a GP for multiple abortions should have mandatory referral to mental health and the abortion window cut to 12 weeks. And she's now in charge of the nation's womens' health? I assume Gary Glitter is pencilled in for head of child welfare?

She isn't though - if she wanted to make changes to abortion law it would be in an act of parliament and that would either be voted down or electorally very punishing. So it just won't happen...

From what I can gather Walker's Pie character appeared on Russia Today for several months in early 2016.

He's described himself as being naïve because RT offered him total control of his content where others didn't. He said it was a bit like Steve Coogan working for Sky

He appeared on RT six years ago so he can't criticise the Tories.
