Are you claiming 201 people died in 3 days in August as you’ve stated above?
I'm not 'claiming' anything, I'm reporting the numbers published by the Government.
What part of "first 3 days of this week" confused you? I've linked to the Govt stats. have a look.
here's a screenshot of the data.If you're too lazy.

naa it's 193 according to the official government statistics, but what is 8 lives between friends huh?
193 is for England, not the UK.

Technically those deaths are not likely to have actually occurred in the three days they were reported.

I'm reporting, not claiming, the number of the deaths reported this week in the UK as per the official Government published numbers.
That total is 201.

I'm reporting, not claiming, the number of the deaths reported this week in the UK as per the official Government published numbers.
That total is 201.
There are now two VERY different stats being published for the UK (the difference being England specifically)
Stat 1 - The revised stat for the whole of the UK. This has brought England into line with Scotland/Wales/NI, in that a death is now only reported as COVID if it occurs within 28 days of a positive test. By that number, the total number of deaths in the UK from COVID is around 5,000 lower than previously reported, and the 7 day average is around 12 deaths per day
Stat 2 -For England ONLY, the previous stat that PHE were using will continue to be published separately - which is within 60 days of a positive COVID test. No other region of the UK has ever published this stat, and you shouldn't see a UK published statthat incorporates England's 60 days with everyone else's 28 days, as that simply wouldn't make sense
Most of the rest of the world appears to be publishing a variation of Stat 1, but it's very hard to find details
Then of course you can add in the ONS Excess deaths stat for good measure

Just checking, that's the same reliable ONS that states the COVID death count total is
51,120 as of 31 July 2020 (published 11 Aug)? [Deaths where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate (ICD-10 U07.1 and U07.2)]
Compared to the Governments official published count(PHE) for 31 July being 46,124 (not sure if either excluded the now revised 5000 odd or not)
Now, exclude the ~5000 revision from the ONS figures then they are 0.0008% different (4) to the understated Govt numbers? (as per their def below ONS seems to include any mention on COVID)
OR are the Govt(PHE) the unrealiable overstated numbers, in which case the gap is ~10,000?

If you're going to call the PHE numbers into question then you HAVE to question the Welsh and Scottish numbers. They've been working to the 28 day standard throughout, so you would expect the difference to the ONS numbers to largely be there.
What this whole thing really exposes is
1 - We're actually really crap as a country in collating and reporting these stats rapidly, and whatever your views on devolution, there needs to be a UK-wide standard for what is reported - even if collation and reporting remains independent
2 - We've been far more open at admitting that fact. We've publically reported a bunch of different stats that contradict each other, with even explained why they do.
The real coverup would have been not to publish the differing stats

minus the ~5000 revision and the UK remains the 5th worst in both total deaths and death/million population

I also wonder what's suddenly happened with Spain's numbers, there was a big hoohaa about how they're changing how they're recording deaths now, and since then, very very few recorded. Sweden too, highest case numbers (OK, more testing I'm sure), mid to late June, and yet no increase in deaths.
I don't think any of this will be clear, and the numbers will never be complete for most countries.

I thought with Spain they siad they'd only now report a death if it had happened inside the previous 24 hours? So if it had taken them 4 days to get the data to the authorities that someone had died, and it was confirmed COVID, they weren't going to report it as they were only bothered about the "trend", and legacy data distorts that

A trial of the English coronavirus app is getting under way.
It will be limited to residents in the Isle of Wight, the London Borough of Newham and NHS volunteer responders to begin with.

That was news to me... I had no idea we were supposed to be trialing a new app. Saw on community facebook groups that it came to a shock to a lot of island residents.

Reported deaths for the first 4 days of last week 212
Reported deaths for the first 4 days of this week 271
A week on week comparison for all 4 days (eg Monday 3rd & Monday 10th) shows a rise on all 4 days consecutively.
This is the first week since peak that the weekly count has gone up. So far a rather significant 27% rise.
Little wonder the Govt has mid week sought to revise the numbers downwards.
