I think the reality is, that one of the threads on here put noses out of joint. Commenting about the dreadful nature of the debates over there using decorators like festering, etc.

Everyone will have their own take, naturally... to me, PR's great strength was that heyday era where the sheer lunacy of the place (by that I mean the hilarity of smart people cutting loose) was funny enough to obscure the shitflinging from those who couldn't keep up. As that body of posters who provided the smarts slowly dwindled the volume from those either desperately trying to maintain a vibe they weren't a part of, or those with endless axes to grind and no levity to balance that... has taken over. The fun went out of the place. All spite no hustle.

Forums seem to have a shelf life, there was a lifeboat launched from the Guardian rugby comments section that began life as "The Haskell Diaries" before being renamed because someone else had used that line.

It was busy, fun, informative, then descended into rancour.

Similar things have happened to other online forums I've read, it's just the way it goes.

It wasn’t great for me before that change. Most of the time the adverts took up all of my phone screen. Scroll past loads of shite to get to the other shite. Haven’t been logged in there since moving here but used to lurk for the amusement factor. Probably won’t go back there again. Have been on there since early 2004 so it’s been a long time.
