I think the reality is, that one of the threads on here put noses out of joint. Commenting about the dreadful nature of the debates over there using decorators like festering, etc.

Everyone will have their own take, naturally... to me, PR's great strength was that heyday era where the sheer lunacy of the place (by that I mean the hilarity of smart people cutting loose) was funny enough to obscure the shitflinging from those who couldn't keep up. As that body of posters who provided the smarts slowly dwindled the volume from those either desperately trying to maintain a vibe they weren't a part of, or those with endless axes to grind and no levity to balance that... has taken over. The fun went out of the place. All spite no hustle.

Forums seem to have a shelf life, there was a lifeboat launched from the Guardian rugby comments section that began life as "The Haskell Diaries" before being renamed because someone else had used that line.
It was busy, fun, informative, then descended into rancour.

So here it is. After c20 years of lurking on da other board ( one or 2 memorable slips whilst posting drunk when a certain Kiki who lived near a hole in the ground Opel mine particularly got my goat ) I find myself cut off from the PR forum and posting ( relatively sober ) on the NPL forum
I’ll save you some time (assuming you are interested ) - I am a cu#t of the first water, I’m neither here nor there having spent most of my adult life in many places on this lovely globe - an optimist by nature and a cynic by experience. I’ve seen them all come and go on PR and I’ve actually learned many things and been drawn into many discussions and red herrings ( without commenting ) on both forums . Why? Frankly, while I am a huge advocate of differing opinion I always reasoned that forums like this create binary opinion - black/ white, worst/best , you are a cunt / im always right and witnessing these over the years I know this is just the nature of the beast … sitting on the sideline was always a way to both learn and gauge opinion while I came to my own conclusion. In that respect, you have all been very useful - well done

It wasn’t great for me before that change. Most of the time the adverts took up all of my phone screen. Scroll past loads of shite to get to the other shite. Haven’t been logged in there since moving here but used to lurk for the amusement factor. Probably won’t go back there again. Have been on there since early 2004 so it’s been a long time.
