great to see "Whipping Boy" making it on this thread ; band that really should have made it to the next level ; friend of mine was going out with the drummer in Seattle - he's still living there as far as I know.

As for Strung Out, I didn't love the most recent album but Transmission.Alpha.Delta had really solid tunes in Black Maps, Nowheresville, No Apologies and Westcoasttrendkill

Listened to Twisted by Design for the first time in ages after the discussion on here the other day. Definitely their high point for me and still an enjoyable listen.
A few more Fat, Lookout and Epitaph bands of a similar ilk I was listening to a lot to in the late 90s

Deathcore take on Billie Eilish
It's actually brilliant, kind of wish he'd done the whole song.
I'm also on a massive Rolo Tomassi kick at the moment. Injecting more and more post-rock into their mathcore is the best artistic decision. For those who don't know them, it's the same girl doing the clean and unclean vocals which is pretty impressive.

Having a fun week re-discovering some of my early 2000s metalcore favourites:

On the other end of the spectrum entirely stumbled upon this Aussie band. Seen them labelled as pop-punk, but I think that's just 'cause they have a female singer. The instrumentals aren't right for that, they lean closer to the lighter end of post-hardcore if anything. I really like some of the obvious Aus inflections in the singing, quite a lot of the vocalists from down under that I've heard basically sound Yank.
They contributed a fun cover of Shape of You to the last Punk Goes Pop compilation.

Funnily enough I was listening to them a few weeks back. The male vocal is a bit high and thin for them to get in my rotation regularly, but I do enjoy the ambient, dreamy quality of their instrumentals.

I've been trying to track down a N.African/ME Funk thing I heard a while ago and I have nothing to go on except a scrap of melody that I can just about remember - it's a frustrating pursuit.

The Tuareg guitar rock sound is excellent. There’s quite a few decent bands putting stuff out...
And good luck trying to track down that scrap of sound, I’ve been there and it can take years

Been checking out Spiritbox as I see them referenced all over the place at the moment. Their vocalist is an astonishingly good screamer and clean singer. I wasn't convinced this was a live take until the clean part kicked in (I actually prefer it to the official recording, multi-layering and auto-tuning of good voices irritates me).
