If ever there was a deserving centre that never got a look in it is Robert Ebersohn.
What happened to Saffer?OomStruisbaai wrote: Wed Sep 09, 2020 10:58 am Thought Saffer brought the worst out of Sards. Now he is even far below what he was

He seems to only post when South African rugby is active. But he is on Facebook (I’m not) so those who know him could ask.handyman wrote: Wed Sep 09, 2020 11:27 amWhat happened to Saffer?OomStruisbaai wrote: Wed Sep 09, 2020 10:58 am Thought Saffer brought the worst out of Sards. I think it is a combination of growing tired of the incessant rinse-repeat arguments on here with sards about rugby and everybody else about Trump, and the fact that he is a principal at a school and managing all his teachers while they are adapting to Covid has been a massive challenge keeping him very busy.
Ja look, he was mainly on here to chat rugby, and sards tried to, but as we know sards does not rugby. Also, saffer's job is a noble one, and I for one respect it if he wants to devote more time to it.Blake wrote: Wed Sep 09, 2020 9:23 pmI think it is a combination of growing tired of the incessant rinse-repeat arguments on here with sards about rugby and everybody else about Trump, and the fact that he is a principal at a school and managing all his teachers while they are adapting to Covid has been a massive challenge keeping him very busy.

Now you are just looking for an argument!assfly wrote: Thu Sep 10, 2020 6:47 am
Also Juan de Jongh is playing very good rugby at the moment for Wasps.
Loved how he pulled sards' chain. Like a puppet on a string.Chilli wrote: Thu Sep 10, 2020 7:50 amYank is a typical soft cock WP Supporter.handyman wrote: Thu Sep 10, 2020 6:45 amJa look, he was mainly on here to chat rugby, and sards tried to, but as we know sards does not rugby. Either the Northern Hemisphere style of rugby suites our players better. Or they are getting better coaching and management in the NH as oposedto what they got here in SA.assfly wrote: Thu Sep 10, 2020 9:15 amI'm serious. Amazing to see so many Saffa players who left under the radar and end up having fantastic careers overseas. I was even watching Anton Bresler and he's a different player.
Coaching is the big difference for me. There are way to many 'mediocre' players doing well there.Chilli wrote: Thu Sep 10, 2020 9:24 am Either the Northern Hemisphere style of rugby suites our players better. Is this the same Juan de Jongh who can't get in the team and has managed one appearance in Wasps' last 8 matches?assfly wrote: Thu Sep 10, 2020 9:15 amI'm serious. I saw him play a few days ago. Looked in good form to me.JM2K6 wrote: Thu Sep 10, 2020 9:36 am

Fair enough, I saw it differently.JM2K6 wrote: Thu Sep 10, 2020 9:41 am He had a run-out for the reserves and barely did a thing in comparison to virtually all his outside back teammates. And it's been his only appearance for a very long time. Because he's 2nd XV fodder now. [edit: he's made 3 starts for them in all competitions in 2020]
What I'm saying is: you're massively over-egging the concept of form and "having fantastic careers overseas" if this is your standard!
You'll be pleased to know Andre Esterhuizen made his first appearance off the bench for Quins. Looked a bit slow in attack but threw a couple of decent passes and put in two bone crunching hits.
To be fair, he is playing behind a few decent enough players.JM2K6 wrote: Thu Sep 10, 2020 9:36 amIs this the same Juan de Jongh who can't get in the team and has managed one appearance in Wasps' last 8 matches?assfly wrote: Thu Sep 10, 2020 9:15 amI'm serious. Yeah, it's certainly not the 19 to 1 exchange rate.assfly wrote: Thu Sep 10, 2020 9:31 am
Watching the premiership, I wouldn't say there is a distinct style of play as each team have their own style. Perhaps that is what attracts our players, each club offers something different by way of coaching, culture and style.
There's only Feikitoa you'd realistically expect to be ahead of him in the pecking order and yet we played Michael Le Bourgeois (ex-championship player, primarily a 12) at 13 ahead of him, which doesn't speak much for de Jongh's value in the team at the moment. In yesterday's game the outside back replacement who came on at 13 was an academy guy making his Prem debut.Chilli wrote: Thu Sep 10, 2020 10:14 amTo be fair, he is playing behind a few decent enough players.JM2K6 wrote: Thu Sep 10, 2020 9:36 amIs this the same Juan de Jongh who can't get in the team and has managed one appearance in Wasps' last 8 matches?assfly wrote: Thu Sep 10, 2020 9:15 am

He was never really a standout player here in SA.sockwithaticket wrote: Thu Sep 10, 2020 11:28 am I will certainly be surprised if his contract is renewed after the current one expires.

97 games for the Stormers and 59 for WP. Somebody must have liked him.
His defence has always been immense, almost never missed a tackle. However he was also a terrible crowbar who never passed the fcuking ball.
Our centres for 2015, who would you have played : Damian de Allende, Juan de Jongh, Pat Howard, Huw Jones, Johnny Kotze, Jaco Taute, EW Viljoen.
World cup winner De Allende and Scotland superstar Huw Jones. Obviously.handyman wrote: Thu Sep 10, 2020 12:23 pm Our centres for 2015, who would you have played : Damian de Allende, Juan de Jongh, Pat Howard, Huw Jones, Johnny Kotze, Jaco Taute, EW Viljoen.
Except both were babies and didn't have the incriminating pictures of Fleck that Taute obviously did.
Why are you talking about Beach Muscles?Sandstorm wrote: Thu Sep 10, 2020 12:18 pmHis defence has always been immense, almost never missed a tackle. However he was also a terrible crowbar who never passed the fcuking ball.
Will the Springboks be back to using the reliable Jantjies?
FFS...Hopefully all these injured world cup stars will be ready for the Lions next year.
