Do you get free Sky Sports or will you have to sneak out to a nearby pub to watch the game?

Any news on refs and weather?

Now that kiwis can get into oz are they doing 1 game nz ref 1 game Gardiner?

Really hope Mo'unga has a great game this week in general play and off the tee. When he runs he creates a lot of questions for defensive lines and his offloading at the line/in contact could be amazing with BB and Clarke

I must say, as nuts as the odd punter is on here (cough *comets^ cough ^crazyislander^) they pale in comparison to your average armchair selector on Farcebook or Twatter.

A wasteland of would be selectors throwing darts at a board as if deciding why the next new kid on the block should be making up a position, any position, in the All Black 23.

match day mofos!

Every match of Rugby I watch these days I deliberately focus on one or two players, following them on both sides of the ball, and watching them off the ball as well. I find it impossible to focus on more than one or two players without wrecking the match day experience. Today I going to focus on young Caleb Clarke in particular. I want to see how he positions himself in both attack and defense, and how hard he works when the AB's are with and without the ball. The man he has replaced George Bridge worked really hard to secure our own breakdown ball, so that will be another facet that I will be focusing on for Clarke.

I will also be focusing on our young no.8 who is making his run on team start, Hoskins Sotutu. Hoskins really excites me as a player because he has a complete skillset. I will be watching him very closely, and in particular his work defensively, at the breakdown and his support play, three areas in which Ardie Savea excels.

I'm really looking forward to this match.

PS- the SARU can eat a bag of dicks!

I'm excited about this game. Despite a few key outs the Wallabies will be desperately hungry to take this one at home.

The All Blacks have named a strong side but if they're even a little off their game the Wobs have enough talent to take it.

Hahahaha, I was just chatting with a guy on FB who reckons Ngani should be starting today because Goodhue has done sfa in the 12 jersey. I suggested that Ngani coming in off the bench is prolly a good idea given he hasn’t played in 2 months. Christ the rant he went on....

Whats the field kicking like of the wallabies new 10 and 12?

White kicked really well in wellington, if similar wet conditions he will out kick Smith, have to hope Smith actually passes it to mo'unga or either backline Barrett for the clearances

I’m actually a bit worried about this game, Rennie has got a habit of getting young greenhorn backline players doing special things and he’s got some pretty good ones in there today. Youthful exuberance can go a long way.

Yep, and if their young 10 and 12 fire it could be the start of a brave new era for the Wallabies.

I'm also bloody nervous about this one.

That's why some of us were so fraustrated with Hansen and Foster. They enjoyed a winning % of close to 90%, but still chopped and changed constantly between 2015 and 2019. There was no need to rotate as much as they did.
An apparent contradiction there. I'd have thought you'd be applauding the foresight of those rotations that resulted in such a win rate.
Strange post. Rotation is one thing, but despite 90% winning rate, Hansen and Foster chopped and changed so much between 2015 and 2019 that we went into last year's RWC without a settled front row, backrow, halves combination, midfield, back three and bench. The only settled part of our team was the locks.
Would you have settled for an 80% win rate and very little rotation ? I quite like the idea of testing up and comers to see how they fare - a lot easier to do when we have 12+ tests a year (not so much in the good old days)

There's a difference between giving the young guys a run against Tier 2 sides and rotating all the time in big Tier 1 tests.

It's no surprise we ended up getting done by England in the RWC because we had failed to land on a settled starting side.

I daresay the win rate would have been even higher with very little rotation, not lower.

Yep, there is zero evidence that Hansen's AB's would have lost more tests with a more stable, consistent selection policy. In fact, our success between 2011 and 2015 was based largely on the consistency of our selection. The team more or less picked itself. All Black squad announcement and selection threads, which used to be pretty argumentative, became a complete non event because we all knew what team would be picked.

Perhaps also a little simplistic. The ABs between 2015 and 2019 had also been found out a bit, the rest of the world was catching up and specifically targeting them and the successful game style of 2011 to 215. The coaches had to try something new.

Trying something different is fine. Changing teams week in week out just for the sake of it isn't. We went into the RWC with no settled combinations in our team aside from the locks. That's simply unforgivable, especially with an 87% winning record

Is there a sense of a grudging admission that if Foster keeps selections consistent, he might be an improvement on Hansen?

Fozzie already gaining the beginnings of respect is not what I had expected.

Perhaps with an 87% win record the coaches thought what they were doing worked ;)

I'm not disagreeing though. I remember Richie holding up his hand after Dan caught the ball deep in one game. Dan came flying through a crowd of players to be tackled just in front of Richie who was over the ball in a blink and the ball recycled immediately wide. You can't expect that kind of understanding from a cobbled-together team.
