Just rumour at the moment, but the injuries are a concern. He missed the AIs, came back and got injured very early against Castes at home and hasn't played since.
I suppose this makes it look more likely with Ashman coming in and Harrison progressing nicely.

McInally is a legend but at this point swapping him out for Ashman would probably be a good result for Edinburgh. He's started more matches than I would have guessed (20 league games in the last 4 seasons as well as another 9 European games with involvement in 35 games overall plus Scotland appearances) but even that workload looks like it might be unsustainable for him at this point. With Cherry now habitually involved with Scotland it means Edinburgh are relying on McBurney and Cruse too often - I think Ashman can comfortably be a first choice URC level player to take one of those spots. If Rambo has more in the tank though, my preference would be for him to be the veteran covering injuries for a season or two and Cruse moving on.

I remember reading somewhere that Cruse is only with us until after the Sharks game, which is a week on Saturday.

Unless he has something else lined up he may be able to stay on until the end of the season. I don't know the status of McBurney's injury, but without Cruse we have Harrison and Harri Morris for the Scarlets game, but I think Morris is still with Ldn Scottish .

Ah, I didn’t know that was the case but I had wondered the impact when announced. That’s a great position for Glasgow now.

OK, I have just read an interview with McConnochie and I actually kind of want him to get a cap now.

He basically says ‘my childhood dream was to play for Scotland but they never showed much interest in me, and it broke my dad’s heart that I played for England’

Even if it is true he was always going to say that to try and get fans on side.

Definitely. The Challenge cup coverage and Scotland football games viaplay have been a nice little bonus on top of the URC. Still not sure I will re-subscribe next year though if the rumoured price increase is true.

Yeah players will say anythingy. He isn't going to say when picked by England "this sucks I'm here because Scotland didn't want me". Like Dempsey won't say "yeah I rejected Scotland when Australia wanted me but now they don't here I am". This is the way of the world.

Good for McCallum but what are Edinburgh doing at prop next year? Nel is probably going to be done post world cup (sadly he's going back to SA rather than staying and coaching), de Bruin is crap, Williams is crap, Gamble isn't young anymore, the academy is a lot of question marks. Oh dear.

Yeah, I'd be disappointed if de Bruin gets a new contract as he's not up to much. I'd put money on Sebastian finding his way up to Edinburgh now that he's a Scottish international and a regular in the Scotland squad although I think that still leaves us without enough quality on that side of the scrum when you need two solid options in the matchday 23 for the big games. The chequebook will have to come out I imagine. Williams is fine as someone cheap who will be 3rd/4th choice for the academy lads to battle past.

Better looking team. I do wonder if Goosen isn't fully fut if he's not starting though. Although, as someone else queried, it could be getting Kinghorn time on the wing for the 6N.

In the region of £180-200 / year, although it will be less if you pay monthly (around £12-14 / month). No option expected to take sport only and not the shit Nordic TV and nordic movie option.

Premier sports was around £80 per year so over 100% increase for no significant additional content (Scotland football was announced while still Premier Sports, challenge cup is new but they don't show all games and missed the last Glasgow one).

Impressive from the BBC who have managed to get both their 'what do they need' European articles wrong.

In this one they claim Edinburgh can only make the top 4 teams if they surpass Exeter's result "[...] fifth-placed Edinburgh needing to better their [Exeter] result when they face Saracens - or match it but win by a more convincing margin - to overhaul them."

Of course the truth is a 5 point win over Sarries or a 4 point win without a sarries LBP would be enough to move above Sarries.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/64320983

In this one they actually get the Edinburgh requirement correct but claim Glasgow, who are in 5th (actually 4th) "...need a handsome victory at home to Bath on Friday to secure that scenario."

As pointed out up thread, Glasgow need only a point to guarantee a top 4 place with 5 points currently separating them and Bristol due to the points deduction.

Only 25 so would qualify with a few years of top level rugby.

If I could ask the SRU any one question it would be what is your prop strategy?

Normally you'd bet heavily in favour of Wee Duncy getting that last kick.

Glasgow were the better side, but they also managed to shot themselves in the foot, too many dropped balls and easy turnovers with the likes of squint throw ins.

Still haven't defrosted from last night.

First of all Bath were worth the draw, in many ways played the smarter rugby, and the Bath Supporters who came up were a great bunch of Lads / Lasses

Still , in some ways "mission accomplished” - Home Draw next round
Not going to single out any specific player , but not many warriors scrapped a pass mark last night, but good to see some of the less experienced players like Ferrie & Samuel get more game time in a big match

In some ways this may not be a bad result – Glasgow by no means the finished article , and perhaps Bath have done Glasgow a favour in providing a dose of reality , on where we are , and where we need to improve to be become a team challenging , rather than a mediocre mid table side.

Hopefully Ross Thompson will becoming closer to coming off the injured list – Jordan needs support , and sorry – Weir is just isn't it nowadays.

I thought Jordan did pretty well - the service he was getting from Price was pretty laboured all night - and his big tackle was a highlight! Tuipolotu was solid again and Fagerson was feisty.

A big worry was the front row with 4 or 5 internationals getting bullied most of the night
