Hah. That was quality by Brizzle.
Mainly because they keep giving it away poorly on full speed offence.
Story of their season really. Continuing trying to play at warp speed even while their fundamentals are letting them down.Torquemada 1420 wrote: Sat Jan 22, 2022 6:05 pmMainly because they keep giving it away poorly on full speed offence.
Defo looks a case of overplaying your hands.sockwithaticket wrote: Sat Jan 22, 2022 6:07 pmStory of their season really. Especially poor given the way this game has been played.JM2K6 wrote: Sat Jan 22, 2022 6:42 pm Gloating in the face of a grounded player for a knock-on and tapping their head - class
I think the officials have had a good game here.sockwithaticket wrote: Sat Jan 22, 2022 6:53 pm Raynal seems to be one of the few enforcing (at least verbally) the start of season directive around jackallers needing to actually lift the ball.
Yeah, I know there's a lot of frothing about French refs from some quarters, but I think Ryanal is generally very good. The TMO for this game has also only made good contributions.Torquemada 1420 wrote: Sat Jan 22, 2022 6:56 pmI think the officials have had a good game here.sockwithaticket wrote: Sat Jan 22, 2022 6:53 pm Raynal seems to be one of the few enforcing (at least verbally) the start of season directive around jackallers needing to actually lift the ball.
Once it was yellow, it was going to be a pen try. At the moment of contact, there are basically 2 wide Briz players and no defenders.sockwithaticket wrote: Sat Jan 22, 2022 6:58 pm
That said, not entirely sure the penalty try was warranted in that situation. Yellow card definitely.
Crikey, last I looked it was 34-13 to Ulster, quite a fightback from ClermontJim Lahey wrote: Sat Jan 22, 2022 7:23 pm Ulster's bench completely outclassed by the intensity that Clermont's brought onto the pitch.
Enjoyable game to watch. Definitely never a dull moment watching Ulster play these days. I said after last week that our defence is not good enough yet to be at the big boy's table in Europe, I think tonight is another example that you can only out-attack a shite defence for only so long. We need a big improvement in that area in the knockouts.
Explains my observation about Ulster falling away in 2nd halfs.Jim Lahey wrote: Sat Jan 22, 2022 7:23 pm Ulster's bench completely outclassed by the intensity that Clermont's brought onto the pitch.

We're missing a shedload of players and that is having an impact on the 23. With some more players back (Henderson and one if Reidy or Murphy in particular) you all of a sudden have so much more quality on the pitch for 80mins.Jim Lahey wrote: Sat Jan 22, 2022 7:23 pm Ulster's bench completely outclassed by the intensity that Clermont's brought onto the pitch.

No is the answer. Tbh this years competition is as much of a joke as the Welsh teams.ASMO wrote: Sat Jan 22, 2022 7:32 pm Will a Welsh side actually win a single game in Europe this year? (Except by default)...all hopes pinned on the pisspreys tomorrow i guess

Both the maul and Priso being stopped from scoring by a blatant offside could have been pen tries. He's bottled it.Torquemada 1420 wrote: Sat Jan 22, 2022 8:07 pm Dickheadson cons LaR out of the most blatant pen try you''ll see.
Raynaud was appalling today as well. The standard of officiating is terrible.Torquemada 1420 wrote: Sat Jan 22, 2022 8:07 pm Dickheadson cons LaR out of the most blatant pen try you''ll see.

NZ has a conveyor of quality SHs and FHs so you figure LaR had to work real hard to recruit the 2 sh*t ones.sockwithaticket wrote: Sat Jan 22, 2022 8:24 pm Good reach from Rhule. Really should have scored earlier, though. Kerr-Barlow just had to give the ball before he got tackled on the break.
At least West has only made it as far as the bench for this game.Torquemada 1420 wrote: Sat Jan 22, 2022 8:27 pmNZ has a conveyor of SHs and FHs so you figure LaR had to work real hard to recruit the 2 sh*t ones.sockwithaticket wrote: Sat Jan 22, 2022 8:24 pm Good reach from Rhule.
