Rumoured broken cheekbone, jaw and nose for Taylor. Should be a fairly lengthy ban, first contact is head to head, extremely reckless.
Never saw the game, as I will not give them the money, that looks a bloody sore one

All those posters who seemed to see Duncan Weir as the great forgotten hope will get their way.

Russell out of the Autumn games, Hastings out until after the 2021 6N....

You’re not bloody wrong. Other countries have players out for a game or two. Ours get ruled out for months at a time, and it’s always the most important ones.

I’m happy for Weir to get a shot, but I’d have liked to have at least one of the others available.

That Scarlets fud has been given 5 weeks for that "tackle" on Taylor.

Taylor will be out for around twice as long, and that is if he has no lingering effects from the serious concussion he suffered.

The authorities really aren't taking head injuries seriously at all.

re flyhalves, Duncan Weir has suddenly become our most important player. We have 4 internationals coming up where he is the sole stand-off in the squad, if he goes down injured in the first 20 minutes in Italy what then? We are Scotland remember, whenever we take a little risk in the selection - no cover for centre or a 6-2 split on the bench - you can guarantee we get the most inconvenient injury in the first 20 minutes or so.

I suspect we will be reminded what it was about Weir that made Finn Russell's arrival as a professional #10 such a relief. I'd love to be proved wrong and discover that we actually have 3 good options at stand off now.

I think there is a good chance that the new game plan will suit Weir and he'll do a good job. He's playing well and confidently and is a much more decisive decision-maker than Hastings which might help shape our attack.

He got 5 weeks, reduced from 10 due to mitigating circumstances. Fking joke imho

C&P from the Beeb

Under World Rugby guidelines Helps' dangerous tackle on Edinburgh wing George Taylor warranted a 10-week ban.

However, Irish judicial officer John Carroll cited mitigating circumstances that led to a five-week ban.

Helps' red was Scarlets' third in successive games for a lock after red cards for Sam Lousi and Morgan Jones.

Carroll ruled Helps' previous clean record, "acceptance of his actions, co-operation and his apology" meant a five-week ban was appropriate.

Scarlets accepted the verdict, adding: "We have spoken to Josh at length about the incident and he fully accepts he got his tackle technique wrong and the coaches are working with him on that.

"We would also like to make it clear that after the match Josh went into the medical room to check on George and to apologise.

"We have also spoken to Edinburgh about putting Josh in touch with George once he recovers."

As a player you say, "okay mate, it's done".

But Taylor could be facing months maybe over a year of problems from this, any further knock this season will exacerbate the aftermath of the concussion he suffered.

I've no beef with Helps, no more than the fact that tackle was extremely reckless, he could have gone low if he'd chosen to do so.

Five weeks is no real deterrent to others.

Weir is a player I thought got a bit of a raw deal at Test level, due mainly to the emergence of Russell. He was supposed to be the golden boy to save us from the era of Parks and transplanted Laidlaw, and he couldn’t really live up to that hype, particularly with a fairly indifferent set of backs behind him. He’s a good player and is our one stand-off with a decent kicking game, which may well suit the more defensive game plan. I’m happy he is getting another shot, but I’d have preferred it wasn’t as the sole remaining option.

I sort of hate to say this (as I thought he was awful at 10) but could Pete Horne be in line for a recall?

As Toony said, Meatball is playing the best rugby of his career at the moment. It's up to him now to show he can carry that form in to international games, it's a huge chance for the lad, assuming he gets picked.

Definitely. There is a bit of same-same with the Russell / Hastings combo that could maybe do with another option. Going into the last 10 vs. Wales last week we did all the right things - we kicked to the corners and played territory. That is Weir's game and he could be the perfect foil for the opening 60 minutes of chaos that is Finn.

As a side point, I was a bit disappointed to see the Edinburgh and Glasgow games or on simultaneously this week on Monday night. I'm not sure I ever remember being able to watch only one game before? Premier Sports don't allow more than one log-in simultaneously so there is no way to watch both.

The Dragon's Round 5 fixture against Connacht and Round 6 fixture against Glasgow Warriors have both postponed.

Edinburgh's Round 7 fixture against Dragons at Rodney Parade is under review as the Welsh Rugby Union and Dragons Rugby have collaboratively and proactively taken the decision to close the Region for a fortnight following the latest results of the COVID-19 testing programme.

The Dragons returned seven new positive COVID-19 tests this week as part of the Welsh Rugby’s weekly testing programme. Working closely with and supported by Public Health Wales the decision has been made to close the Region for a fortnight, with no training or games to take place during this time.

I have no interest in spending the kind of cash required to have sky TV with sports. What is it now, like £40 per month just for TV with sports and well over £100 if you go the full shebang (phone, line rental etc.).

£80 per year for Premier Player does just fine 99.9% of the time (except Monday night, apparently).
