Your question is kinda answered by the post you quoted. When it's bouncing that much, LBW is less likely, getting caught close in is much more likely. Can't play it down / get your hands out of the way if you press forward. Stokes is doing the right thing. One player needs to take the chance of pinch hitting and 5-10 overs of luck could decide the game.
