Speaking of Edinburgh coaches, anyone any thoughts on who might be next in the Ejection seat? I'm hoping it's not Steve Diamond as it was pointedly called a consultancy when he started.
I can't say I have an opinion on who it should be, but I agree it should not be Diamond.

Diamond seems to be spending all his time of the Worcester consortium he is fronting in any case with them seemingly moving into pole position to take on the club I think there is no move on either side to make this happen.

Staying in the capital.

Scrum-half Charlie Shiel has penned a one-year extension with his boyhood club!
I am surprised to see that.
I just do not understand what is happening with him. He does not get much game time, but gets kept on. Having said that, I think he should be getting more game time. He has spoilt a few performances with daft errors, but to me it looks like he just needs a run of games to sort that out and get a better understanding of what refs will / will not allow.
It's a shame Edinburgh has not had a decent SH on the coaching ticket for a wahile.
I like the look of Shiel - good pass and box kick and he's rapid - so would really have preferred to see more of him the last couple of years. But then in his last start for us (I forget who it was against, our poor performances have blended together a bit in my memory) he had an absolute mare.

Yeah the quotes from coaches last week, and the news about Worcester this week very much suggest he's finished with Edinburgh - who's available though?

The only other publicly rumoured name that I'm aware of is Lee Blackett whose contract at Scarlets is up at the end of the season.
Hopefully the Diamond thing is indeed fizzling out and the SRU are casting the net more widely than one of Mark Dodson's mates. Franco Smith for Glasgow was unexpected and has turned out to be an excellent piece of recruitment.

I suspect this was lined up for a while - regular game time for him would be excellent for him and Scotland.

I managed to take advantage yesterday of a £59 deal with Viaplay for the next year. It's available until Sunday in case any of you wants to as well.

Great deal, messaged them yesterday unfortunately can't be loaded on to an existing subscription. Mine's not up until September.
The E-mail from the weeg forum says that they have got 23-24 URC and T14.

I am tempted. Not sure whether to sign up with Sky or with Viaplay themselves. If you do the latter, how does it work? Do you watch via an app? If so then I might do that as I’m more likely to watch games on my iPad.

Do it via Sky and you get the app/web login thrown in anyway for no additional (unless they have changed that from previous years). Normally says in the blurb, all you need is the number off your sky card in your box.

So back in the day of Premier Sport , if you signed up for access via Sky , you also got access on their app as well
Thre is a couple of reasons that I would go via Sky ,
1 , I've heard the Viaplay app is not the greatest (neither was the premier Sport App ) , but othewr people would be in a better position to confirm
2. I also believe that the matches are not held that long for the app , however if you just record them on the Sky box , then they will always be there recorded until you delete them .

1) The app has been hugely improved from Premier but last week it was absolutely shite and I ended up turning it off, hope that was just a one off
2) Not sure to be honest, they have always been there when I've gone looking since it became Via

I've just done the same -it's a real steal of a price considering the cost of a match ticket thes days
I went for the Sky option as well , and you do also get Viaplayer access - for mobile devices - the app really hasn't improved on the Premier Player app.
I had a quick look on the Viaplayer app , and I can't see any full games , only highlights, looking at the Viaplay support details, they have this "replay" option
Replay (48 hours)
With our replay function you have the opportunity to watch all of our sport broadcasts for up to 48 hours afterwards. Select the event from the sport section and start watching. You can start the broadcast 48 hours after the end of the broadcast, after that it will disappear from the schedule.
So if I'm correct , they only have the full games up for 48 hours - whereas with Sky , if you series link it - you will never miss anything - just make sure you have enough space , and delete your wife's "Grey's Anatomy" if you don't
(PS - don't delete your wifes favouite programme - you will never hear the end of it - speaking from experiance )

The advantage of Sky nowadays (plus full fibre) is that you can generally download things if you do delete them!

The App and web login was rank last week, (first time ever) during the Saffer game and then the Embra v Connacht if I remember correctly. So much so the Sky Go app was better. As we say, hopefully just a one off.

Well, I’ve signed up for the year (hard not to at that price!) and it’s working on both Sky and the App. Happy days. Now I need to remember not to let it roll over next year at three times the price! (Knowing my luck, Embra will have a great season next time out, and my sub will run out right before the playoffs)

You can cancel your autorenewal in a few days time and it counts down until your subscription lapses but you still have full access. Just go to your account page.

Glasgow Team for Scarlets out
Pretty much what most people would see as a first choice 15 , apart from Huw Jones , and Fagerson Junior being on the bench ( but a pretty decent bench option to bring on after 50 minutes
The big fillip is having Sebo back on the wing , which is good as there are not many other fit options - Miotti not on the bench, but I susoect that this is just part of Franco's rotation system
Game is on S4C for those not making it to Parc y Scarlets
Glasgow Warriors
15 Ollie Smith
14 Sebastian Cancelliere
13 Sione Tuipulotu
12 Stafford McDowall
11 Kyle Steyn (Captain)
10 Tom Jordan
9 George Horne
1 Jamie Bhattie
2 George Turner
3 Zander Fagerson
4 Scott Cummings
5 Richie Gray
6 Rory Darge
7 Sione Vailanu
8 Jack Dempsey
Substitutes
16 Johnny Matthews
17 Nathan McBeth
18 Simon Berghan
19 JP du Preez
20 Lewis Bean
21 Matt Fagerson
22 Ali Price
23 Duncan Weir

Jones is not listed as injured/unavailable for selection , so he probably could have played.
May just be 'Horses for Coures' , and with the number of games at the pointed end of the season coming thick and fast , probably good to give Jones a rest
I'm sure he will probaly be involved in the Quater final against Munster in two weeks.

Aye, I thought that he must be being rested, he's only missed a couple of games since the turn of the year.

I appreciate it's "only" the European challenge cup but if the SRU are in the business of resting players for semi finals they really have these rest rules wrong. This is a huge game.

McDowall is a pretty decent substitute , and as Robmatic has mentioned Shuggie took a bit of a hit inthe Connacht game

Big Staff, as I'm going to call him, has been terrific this season. There were concerns about Shuggie right enough, he took a bang to the head, there is no harm in letting him sit this one out, he's not going to be the lineout monster that McDowall is anyway.

Presumably better than Brown is now as he's had about 4 years of pro rugby (was in the same 20s team as Graham, Matt Fagerson, Kinghorn) but he's never made much impact. I really don't understand dropping Brown and signing Dodd. Diamond did play Dodd quite a bit fwiw.
